Originating as a tradition of the Native Americans, practiced mostly on special occasions, smoking has gradually become a kind of mass addiction. Due to the efforts of tobacco companies seeking to increase their sales, people started smoking more and more often; the evolution of a more traditional pipe to a cigarette took some time, but eventually tobacco became more affordable and easier to use (you now simply need to light it up, instead of having to always carry a tobacco pouch, stuff a pipe, puff it, and so on). One of the largest and most problematic health issues in our society is smoking. Smoking is currently the leading cause of death in our country, due to its harmful and addicting contents, such as nicotine and tobacco. Statistics show that smoking is very harmful and affects our health. Some people smoke due to stress related issues, which can later become a habit. Others view smoking as a hobby when they’re with their peers. Statistics also show us that young people smoke because they want to look mature, or trying to fit in. Even though it is bad for our health some people can’t resist doing it. It is believed that once a person starts smoking the hardest thing to do is stop. we must realize that there is no right or wrong argument, everyone is entitled to their own opinion

Smoking is one of Australia's leading causes of death and illnesses. Smoking claimed 14,900 deaths in 2004-05 alone. Employers should ban employees from smoking during the working day both inside and outside the environment. Smoking is unhygienic, can effect job performance and cause illnesses. Smokers smoke because they enjoy the feeling and believe that it is their choice and nobody should take that away from them.

Smoking around other people is impolite, inconsiderate, and maybe even cause others to have health problems. A person who is say, allergic, to smoke or have some other problems with smoke may start losing breath, coughing, and may have to be taken to a hospital. It is also unfair to babies or children who can?t help that people are smoking around them.
