Marching Band College Application

I am currently involved in National Honors Society at my school. I am so grateful to be apart of this organization because it has taught me how to be mindful of my grades and how to maintain them. Doing community service within this group has informed me of how impactful helping others

I began playing the trumpet in the fifth grade. Back then, I loved playing the trumpet. We had band practice at the end of the school day every Tuesday and Thursday, and I looked forward to those rehearsals every single week. I loved it because in elementary school, the directors didn’t care about my tone quality. They didn’t care about how talented I was. They couldn’t care less whether or not I practiced. I loved it because it just gave me an opportunity to socialize with my friends more.

Outside of school, I am also active in my community. I am involved in many activities. For my church; Spring Baptist Klein Campus; I have been involved as a volunteer at Vacation Bible School for 2 years. I have volunteered for crafts both years because I like to be around children of

I have been involved with in our school and our community. In our school I was nominated for head of Prom committee this year. This position is quite stressful but I would not have it any other way. I enjoy being able to help and put my mark on it for our school. I brainstorm for fundraisers, activities, and small jobs our class can do to raise money. I also get to choose our revenue, theme for prom, and decorations. I do all of this within out tight budget. I

I spend a large amount of time helping out, sorting and copying music, and doing other things that are needed. I have dedicated almost all of my time to band this year, whether that be marching band, concert ensembles, Grand View Wind Ensemble, jazz band, or the honor bands I did this year. I changed my outlook on our program and knew it was the program I wanted to be the most involved in throughout high school.

I have been in a few school activities. One of the main activities that I have been involved in is Color guard. Since my sophomore year, I have been on the guard and participating in all of the competitions with the band. It is a great way to get involved, make new friends, and create new experiences. I am also in my school’s National Honor Society which is an organization that consists of the top academic scholars. We do volunteer work and do activities that display integrity. We have done blood drives as well as packaged food for Kids Against Hunger. That is another organization that people can do to help package food for children across seas that don’t have any source of nourishment. I am an active thespian which is a group of sorts that is dedicated to the fine arts. I have been one since my freshmen year and have been either stage manager or assistant stage manager for two plays and three musicals. My junior year as well as this year I was involved in National

Freshman year during my lunch period, I had decided to participate in technology squad to assist those unfamiliar with software applications such as PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and Google Docs. Also I was responsible to assign laptops out to students who needed them. When I heard of EMT Club, I automatically joined because I wanted to learn more on what it takes to become an EMT. I handed out candy grams to raise money for the ambulance corps and got to listen to current medical technicians that provided an overview of their responsibilities. In addition I attended a first aid class and got certified, so I can lend a helping hand in an emergency. Outside of school in the Fair Lawn Jewish Center Religious School, I helped students learn the hebrew alphabet and planned activities that would keep them engaged.

Between band practice, studying, and officer meetings, I find time to volunteer. Through my 3 clubs, I have completed over 250 hours of volunteer service. Many of my service hours have come from HOSA, where I can obtain clinical experience through volunteering at nursing homes, health fairs, or hospitals. Volunteering has been extremely important to me, and every experience is special. I can remember vividly my first volunteer experience at a soup kitchen where a man began to sing hymns. It was such a shock to me that I could be as much of a blessing to people. That experience inspired me to continue volunteering throughout high

So far this year, I have joined five clubs/ organizations and I find it to be extremely rewarding. I have not been able to be a part of many after school activities in past years because I was focused on keeping my grades up in Governor’s School, but now I have much more time to dedicate to other areas.

I am a member of National Honor Society. We volunteer and help people in anyway we can. So far I have about 20 hrs of community service. I helped my teacher moved everything in his class during the summer. I helped an old woman raked leaves in her backyard. I volunteered to assist my high school's registration. I lend a hand to elementary school children and basically played and watched them. I assisted a youth wrestling tournament. There are many more services in which I hoped to help out.

During my Junior year at Colfax High School, I was recruited into a new program called Link Crew which is a freshman transition program that welcomes incoming freshmen and makes them feel comfortable and supported throughout the first year of high school. This program was not only a club but also a class called Wings in which we would precisely plan Academic Follow Up's (AFU) for the freshmen, and organize events such as a Haunted House and a Blood Drive for the whole school. Also during my Junior year, I joined the Leo's Club which is a student run club that's purpose is to perform service projects within our school and community. I was able to become a certified volunteer of Colfax and Meadow Vista once I had not only met, but exceeded the minimum of 35 hours of volunteer work. Outside of school, I became interested in snowboarding which allowed me to get a seasonal job at a Ski

As a freshman in high school I got interested to get involved in the city as a youth commissioner. Being a youth commissioner gives you the chance to get some hours and help out with special occasions in the city. I put in a total of six hundred hours for three years. When I was finally old enough, I got hired for my first job in the city as a camp recreation leader for a summer camp. Now I only work at a fast food Mexican

I was part of a group that helped raise money and get school supplies that was for the student of the Judson school district who could not afford to get them, themselves. I am still active in community services, even though I am not as active as i once was I still do what i can and it is a big part of who i am and i love to help and offer my services for things that really help others and my community. I am a very diverse type of person, i like to be active in different things. In intermediate school my 6th grade year i played basketball for one year through BVYA. I was in band for three years, it was my 6th grade year to my 8th grade year i played the flute

I have volunteered with my hometown middle school choral program where I did mini voice lessons; this experience really helped me start working with males whose voices were changing. Another volunteer experience has been with the WCDA NextDirection event where I was a college chaperone for high school students. I worked with colleagues from other institutions to help high school students explore the possibility of pursuing a career in music. I also have had the opportunity to do long term teaching. I work on music literacy classes with the Badger State Girl Choir.

Many interests can affect people in different ways. My biggest interest is marching and pep band as well as band class. Band is where I made a lot of my friends and was able to be myself without feeling insecure. It’s one of the things I look forward to when I go to school. Band is also one of the things that made me fall in love with Purdue, especially the Purdue All-American Marching Band. Seeing them perform out on the field is amazing and just a sight to see what they can create. Their pep bands that perform for the basketball games are great to hear as well. Overall Purdue’s marching band and pep band are excellent at what they do and inspiring others to join. Challenges can be rough, but we can surpass them and achieve our goals. One
