The objective of this report was to analyze Vivint-Smart Home Solutions’ performance in terms of organisational culture, management and leadership styles and motivation and how organizations have been affected by them. In this report, we identified that Vivint has an association of Hierarchy and Market organisational culture, relationship-oriented and task-oriented leadership styles and servant leadership style. Moreover, it demonstrated that Vivint has intrinsic and extrinsic rewards. These resulted in successful and unsuccessful practices of Vivint based on the Undercover Boss TV series based on three aspects which have been mentioned above. In addition, this report critiqued the Undercover Boss method for discovering the problems within an organisation and recommended other processes for uncovering issues. The results showed that organisational culture, management and leadership styles as well as motivation played significant roles in Vivint’s performance. Recommendations have been made to improve the unsuccessful practices of Vivint such as training managers to be empathic problem solver, examining and updating the working condition regularly, bonus for employees who give feedback voluntarily on management processes and offering fund to employees who are in need of support.
Toshiba seemed to be a very successful company with high profits for about seven years in a row. However, during this time a scandal was occurring where the upper management team members pocketed millions of dollars. Toshiba practiced unlawful accounting practices and over estimated their future profits. This scandal is an example of improper use of internal control and the misuse of the path-goal theory by over stating goals, which management knew employees would not be able to accomplish without using some type of loophole to top management benefits.

I called the constituent and had a long phone conversation and this worker had a hard time following the constituent conversation because she changed back and forth topic, sometimes talking two different and unrelated topics at the same time. Ms Barbarito was very agitated trying to say many things at the same time and at times she was babbling and even stammering incomplete sentences. To make it even harder, it was a beep and constant sound emitted by her phone. I asked her if she is having issues with her phone, she said yes, and asked this worker to hold on please. It seemed like she was typing on her phone, she then said was trying to mute the alert beep, but she couldn’t. She asked this worker to call her again. I called her again but
As you know, our new contract year for 2017 is steadily approaching, which means as a team we need to focus on the effectiveness of our agency current organizational structure. The structure that is currently in place, has been around for the last several contract years, yet during this period, the needs of our community have changed, which means we need to have a higher standard of service. The structure of the agency itself does not seem to be the main problem, but it is more so those we have placed in the positions of power. Changing the employee structure will allow for our employees to be better suited for their job. This combination will give better service not only for our community but also enhance the successfulness of our agency.
Management comes with countless responsibilities in order for the business to run smoothly and successfully. In order to achieve the goals of the company as well as the managers own goals, it is essential to keep employees motivated, keep the customer satisfied, and increase profits. “Management is defined as the process of administering and coordinating resources effectively, efficiently, and in an effort to achieve the goals of the organization.” (Lewis, 5).
2. To what degree does the compensation philosophy align with corporate strategy, culture and organizational resources?
For managers to be effective in organizational management they must have experience and lead by example. Managers can set the example for their staff to emulate just by their physical presence in the job environment. The way a manager conducts day to day activities of management depends on their technical, leadership, and management skills. These skills are gained over time and managers continue to hone these skills constantly. Management theories are great teaching tools for managers since most of the them in some shape, form or fashion draw their management ideas from the theories of management which were developed and improved over the past centuries by earlier managers, theorist, and scholars.
Over the years, the idea of management has intrigued me in its applicability in many aspects of life, whether in social sciences or the sciences. Its versatility prompts me to take up this course. This course will help expand my knowledge in the different aspects business that can be then applied to my personal life and professional life
The field of management can be a very bleak field to venture into. It takes certain people to be managers. Management can be very tough, rigorous, demanding, and firm; yet it can be rewarding, bring unity a company, and can save time when used in the most effective way. In addition, anyone can be a manager only if you follow the (3) simple principles of the One Minute Manager.
We cannot leave our discussion of the value of studying management without looking at the rewards and challenges of being a manager. What does it mean to be a manager? Being a manager in today\ 's dynamic work place provides many challenge.
