The Article I used for this paper was “The Effects of Physical Exercise on Cognitive Functioning: A Metal -analysis” by Colcombe and Kramer (2003). The authors of the article used multiple regression to examine the relationship between physical exercise and cognitive functioning. They conducted a meta-analysis of studies that had investigated this relationship, and used multiple regression to control for various factors that could influence the relationship, such as age, gender, and the type of cognitive task used. I think that multiple aggression was an appropriate choice in this case, as it allowed the authors to examine the relationship between physical exercise and cognitive functioning while controlling for other variables that could potentially confound the relationship. By using multiple regression, the authors were able to statistically isolate the effect of physical exercise on cognitive functioning from other variables that might be related to both exercise and cognition. The authors displayed the data in the form of a forest plot, which showed the effect sizes and the confidence intervals for each study included in the meta-analysis. However, they did not display the raw data from each individual study. The results of the meta-analysis do stand alone, as they are based on many studies and the authors used rigorous methods to select and analyze the studies. However, it is important to note that meta-analysis is dependent on the quality and validity of the studies included and the authors did not report on the quality of the studies or any potential biases that might have affected the results. The authors did report effect sizes in the form of standardized mean difference (SMDs). These effect sizes provide a measure of the magnitude of the relationship between physical exercise and cognitive functioning and can be used to compare the strength of the relationship across different studies. The effect sizes reported by the authors were meaningful and consistent with previous research in this area, Overall, the research was well conducted meta-analysis that used appropriate methods to examine the relationship between physical exercise and cognitive functioning. However, it is important to consider the quality and validity of the studies included in the meta-analysis, as well as any potential biases that might have affected the results.
