Question
Can someone go through the logistics behind this question?
For Compound X, all I know is that because it reacts with chromic acid, it would probably be a primary or secondary alcohol. However, I don't know what the Na+ is supposed to do or how the bromine and lucas reagents work.
For Compound Y, I was under the impression that it would be a tertiary alcohol because it does not react/oxidize, but the answer key says it is actually a cyclic compound.
