Expert Solution
Step 1

IR spectra deals results from the interaction of infrared radiation with matter by absorption. IR spectra uses the IR radiation for the excitation of a molecule and thereby generate the IR spectrum as a function of frequency or wavelength of light. IR spectra has been used as a finger print to identify chemical compounds or functional groups.

Mass spectrum is the technique used in analytical chemistry for the separation of ions based on the mass to charge ratio which basically ionizes chemical species in the ionization chamber of a mass spectrometer. Fragmentation is the breaking up of unstable molecular ions which is usually formed in the ionization chamber of a mass spectrometer. These fragments will cause a pattern in the mass spectrum.

Every nuclei will have spin and if an external magnetic field is applied, there will be an energy transfer which corresponds to radio frequencies. NMR shows different frequencies which corresponds to different kind of protons in an unknown organic compound.
