Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Analysis

A native Patersonian, Audrey McDowell is the daughter of the late Cornell and Laura Parker. Audrey received her early childhood education at Dale Avenue School, and Our Lady of Lourdes in Paterson. She is a graduate of Wayne Hills High School in Wayne. Audrey completed her post secondary education at William Paterson College in Wayne New Jersey graduating with honors with a BS degree in Community Health Education.

As I walked into the glittery ballroom once again, trying my hardest to remove the white cat hair from my black sweater, I noticed that almost everyone had heels on and ignored the Panhellenic letter that suggested we wear “church attire.” I was already nervous about having to wear an overly conservative dress that didn`t match my style for the second day of sorority recruitment, so seeing that everybody else looked like runway models only added to my nausea. However, when I looked around the room I saw many girls who were didn`t fit in, like me; some who opted for slacks, some who decided to wear no makeup, some who just didn’t look like everyone else. We all had similar demeanors: uncertain smiles, furrowed brows, and faces that were pointed straight down, as if we were being reprimanded.

The reason I would love to participate and actually be a contillionette of the Suffolk Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and Incorporation is because I think this would be a wonderful experience to take part in. I’ve been in two previous events of the same nature so it’s not like I don’t have any experience at all. Another reason is that I actually enjoyed my past experience and actually learned a lot. I wasn’t just there to get and take. I was very happy to be there and to receive and give anything that I could. I most definitely feel like this will be the same. I’m excited that I would come to enjoy my time in this organization, the experience that will be gained, and the knowledge that will be shared, and hopefully I’ll meet new

The organization that has been the most impactful since I started college has been Sigma Kappa sorority. Sigma Kappa was the first organization I joined when I got to K-State and in many ways I think it is the reason that I became even more involved throughout the last two years. Being a member of Sigma Kappa first exposed me to other opportunities on campus. One instance in particular is there is a member that is very involved in the Student Governing Association. She often would stand up during chapter dinner and describe different ways women in our sorority could get involved. Her passion for the SGA inspired me to make my own run for a senate seat. I thoroughly enjoyed this portfolio. I am a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Pi Chi Chapter here at Stockton University. This was not only a campus activity with my chapter, and the Stockton Community, but it was an international community service project for the sorority in itself, which has over 283,000 members. The community service project included all members of the sorority to turn in 1 backpack to the sorority to be donated to children who were unable to receive school supplies, for whatever issue, where their parents were unable to afford school supplies. I was fortunate enough to see one of the schools that Alpha Kappa Alpha donated to which was a school in Camden, and which is a place where poverty is extremely high. To turn in my backpack, my chapter and I attended North Atlantic Regional Round-Up where about 400 backpacks were collected and over 4,555 school supplies were collected. Not only did Alpha Kappa Alpha help increase the quality of a child’s education, but they donated in areas where poverty is also very high, so that students could have the resources that they needed to succeed in school, which made me feel like I

Chanting and screaming of sorority houses at Library Lawn, as new members take off running from all different directions to their new homes. If you stopped and took it all in, you could see all thirteen houses standing out around a stage in different themes, waiting for the new pledges. After months of preparation of recommendation letters, resumes and shopping for the perfect outfit to wear to each house event during recruitment, Bid Day was finally here. Today was the day that over 700 girls would run to their new home for the next four years and make bonds and friendships that would last a lifetime.

I feel as if every sorority is great in its own unique way. Not only did I do my research online, but I also did my research by looking at how the sisters interacted with one another and the way that they welcomed others. I feel as the way that the finer women of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. carries themselves, the way they interact and welcome others, and being a trailblazer stands out to me the most. Every time that I have had an interaction with the sisters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. it has always been positive. I do not feel as if I need to force myself to act in a particular manner to be accepted I can simply be myself and feel welcomed, opposed to other sororities. As an immigrant from Ghana, the Black diaspora is one that I hold close to my heart as I grew up around Black people from all ethnicities. I have always been interested in research and community initiatives that connects people. I believe that community engagement and connecting Black people across the diaspora is key to fighting for justice and the uplift of all Black people. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a sorority that has done this in more ways than one, both nationally and locally The sorority has taken their community engagement to a global level through many initiatives such as building a school in Haiti and a home for orphaned children in Swaziland.

Thank you for your support of Kappa Kappa Gamma. On behalf of Fraternity Council, I am writing to share an update regarding Zeta Eta Chapter at the University of California, Irvine.

I would like to be a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated because I relish, relate and appreciate the Foundation of which Zeta Phi Beta sorority, Incorporated was founded upon. The members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated are women who represent finer womanhood. They are kind, respectful and most of all professional. After being impressed with the Zetas on Bennett college campus, I decided to really take the time to learn more information about the organization. I went on the Internet, I visited the divine nine on various campuses and I fell in love with the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. One of the reasons I fell in love with the organization was because they were the only organization with the principal of Finer Womanhood.

I believe in the value of an education and that everyone should have access to it. I was fortunate enough to have parents who strongly believed in my dreams and encouraged me to pursue them as well as support them. During my college experience, my sorority has encouraged me to participate in philanthropic activities and I want to continue giving back to my community as a post-graduate. On of the main philanthropies my sorority focused on was CASA, which gives voices to children who were handed unfair circumstances in life. Due to the rising poverty levels in America, not every child has the means to pursue the education they deserve. I believe that an education has the ability to change someone's life and am extremely passionate about learning.

The thought was by working with children at an early age it would provide them with the tools and encouragement to embrace life and find meaning for their own lives. This is a worthy challenge, however now I see the need to seek an active role on the macro level. Assisting people in embracing and cultivating their personal skills and qualities is exciting but without equal access and fair opportunity these same children could be doomed to an inevitable fate of being stuck in the system. There must be a change in people’s mindset regarding genuine poverty and the true struggle of American citizens, from the forsaken Native American reservations to the old mining towns in rural areas of American to the impoverished citizens in both urban and suburban America. These changes will not manifest until policies and laws are changed. It can only happen when people unite with a solid strategy to dismantle the personal kingdoms created by corporate America and the government, replacing them with a commitment to implementing programs and services that eliminate some of the inequities of the

Emma, a senior at a southeastern university, was recorded having sex with a brother who passed the video around to the other brothers at his house (Robbins and Florsheim 146). After that event, Emma’s sorority sisters turned their backs on her (Robbins and Florsheim 146). Sororities lure freshmen in to give them a home base lifestyle and sense of belonging (Robbins and Florsheim 146). Many chapters are supposed to teach leadership skills and encourage community service, but some chapters become out of hand when dealing with initiating people (Robbins and Florsheim 146). Becky, a junior in a North Carolina sorority, admits, “It is the system of everyone having to keep up this image that they are the best, the prettiest, the most fun” (qtd.

Alpha Zeta is a professional organization of men and women whose educational and career objectives fall within the broadly defined field of agriculture and natural resources. Founded at The Ohio State University on November 4, 1897, it is the oldest fraternal society in agriculture.

While at my on-site orientation for tutoring at the Center for the Homeless in downtown South Bend, the volunteer coordinator made a point of bringing up the center’s Montessori preschool program. It is very unique, and she was very proud of it. She then went on to explain why the program is so important. She said that the younger kids have the greatest chance of changing their ways. The earlier they start turning their lives around, the better the chance that they will break old harmful habits and start making new helpful ones.
