Mona Shores district should not turn our schedule into year-round schooling. There are many negative affects about having to go to school year round. For example, students get jobs during summer and going to school year round would ruin that. Many students at Mona Shores have to get summer jobs, myself included. Us teenagers are going to be going to college soon and some of us have to come up with the money on our own. So on our two-month vacation off of school, we are able to get jobs and start saving money for college and other things like a car or sports equipment. Having traditional schooling gives kids the chance to spend time with some friends and family that they might not be able to see often. If our school was to switch to year-round schooling it would ruin our chance to be able to spend more time with friend and family. Many families leave for summer and go on some sort of trip so somewhere that they don’t go very often, but if year-round schooling was to take place then this would cut the amount of time we get to leave and spend time in places we have never been to or see family and friends we don’t see very often. Imagine a school year that never ends. A year without summer, relaxation, and vacations with family. Summer is the time of year that every student cannot wait arrive. But what if the playful time filled with friends, smiles, and laughter did not exist? What if school remained in session year-round? I think it's funny that the subject of year-round school is still a topic of debate. The reason is I just want to have good teachers and get a good education. I really don't care when and how the schedule is set up because I know my mom and dad will support me and get me to where and when I need to be. But, if I had a choice I would choose to have a schedule similar to what Nick Castellino writes about in his letter. I feel that of the two letters Nick wrote the one I agreed with more. Nick's letter, seemed to me, to be mainly about doing away with year-round school.

Although year-round school offers more time for learning more and less reviewing, there are many more benefits from the original school schedule.
Did you know many schools attend year round school? In my opinion I think that we shouldn’t have year round school. For instance, if you have a long distance family member, and you ant to visit them, how would you be able to do that? Also how are you going to go on vacation and spend more than a weekend there? You wouldn’t unless your parents were off and they took you out of school.

Schools across the country are switching to a year-round schedule. Little do they know many others are switching back to the traditional school calendar. Whether it's the parents, kids, or the teacher, change isn't easy on anyone. Many simply think of it as more school and no breaks but it's kind of the exact opposite. Ultimately switching to a year-round schedule would cause a rise in costs, and greatly affect kids who have summer jobs/vacations, thus creating a scheduling nightmare for kids, parents, and teachers alike.
Year round schooling is a topic that is emerging widely throughout the United States in this day and time. It is said that it is suppose to better the school systems and help students with their schoolwork. However, I think year round schooling could do more harm than good to students, families, as well as teachers. With year-round school, the budget will go up with the cost to provide food, utilities, and other things that are provided for the students. In order for the school to stay up and
