A Vindication of the Rights of Women: One of the earliest books on women’s philosophy. 11. Laissez Faire: The theory that says that government should not intervene that much. 12. Adam Smith: Adam Smith was a Scottish philosopher who is best known for The Theory of Moral Sentiments and An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations. 13. Censorship: Censorship is examining books and taking bad parts out of them (like a publishing company). 14. Salons: A place where you go to, to look better or feel better. 15. Throughout this book, Montesquieu touched up on other governments and even earlier governments. He described ways a government should be made up, and he centered in on one idea. This idea was to create three branches of government which were the legislative, executive, and judicial. These were to be used for different causes and could check the others power so one branch doesn’t get too powerful and disrupt its citizens liberties. About 50 years later, these ideas would soon influence a growing nation’s government. Later social philosophe, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, believed that people are naturally good, but due to society, they become bad. In later years, Rousseau put all of his ideas and thoughts into The Social Contract. In this work, Rousseau states that society and government limit people’s behavior too much that in the end it creates a negative. He believed that people need some rules to act as guidelines and such, and that these rules should only be passed by freely elected governments to enable everyone’s
