Have you ever heard a child complain to someone about something happening at school or about them being too tired to do something because of at school or from not getting enough sleep? Kids now hardly get sleep because of after school activities ending too late, from staying up late to do homework, etc. I believe that if we cut back recess just a little that kids will have more time to get their homework, or classwork finished so they don’t have to worry about it later on. Recess is becoming a waste of time and there isn’t much time to be wasted! According to Valorie Delp, recess is good for kids because of the rate of obesity of ages ten-fifteen that has tripled over the years. That also tells that even after the years of having recess, that during recess some kids still don’t do any physical activity. Kids could get their exercise through physical educations programs and classes or after school sports. If recess is to work they should provide a teacher …show more content…
During recess we need to make the children aware of the levels of play that are allowed (Recess: Necessity or Nicety?). That means that all the bullying starts during recess, as Jay Mathews says, recess inspires fights and students getting teased. If teachers let behaviors go unnoticed it could increase the likelihood of further bad behaviors. During recess kids usually do their bullying when there isn’t any teachers around or when there is very poor supervision over them. Unstructured recess can lead to bullying issues, Alice Drinkworth tells that unstructured breaks avoid attention fatigue, regardless of the child’s age. Some people might be concerned about the strangers’ access to the children on school ground during recess or while they’re outside. They might be having situations where the people who are outside of the school and don’t attend the school have tried to talk and play with the kids while the person or teacher isn’t paying any
“ I'm so tired of sitting in those same boring classes with teachers talking the whole class period, I would like a break in between academic classes.” Schools should have a break in the day where students can have time to get away from all the teacher talking. With that said, students should have recess in schools, because minor movement at recess can alter the child's physical health, when at recess with their peers they can learn cooperation skills and negotiation skills, and children learn many things by playing at recess. Recess can also help students with their communication skills, brain development, and physical health.
Did you know that the human brain cooperates better when you have a longer break time? Whether or whether not you think students need a recess. Recess is very important, here is why: Students’ learning abilities increase, obesity and health problems have gotten better and more recess helps student cope and socialize better with other people.
Remember in elementary when everyone would burst through the doors when the recess bell rang, those were the good ole days. Let's bring that back. There are so many benefits to having recess in middle school. Students should have recess in middle school because students spend too much time on the computer, and its is like a big brain break instead of many small ones.
Kids need recess because when they are sitting down working for so long get tired and will wanna fall asleep. So that's also why i think kids should have recess and if they are
Middle School students should not have a 20 minute recess. One reason is that there is a prodigious amount of bullying occurring on the playground. This results in kids feeling left out or melancholy, problems like this could be stopped if there was no recess. Another reason is that time spent on recess could be spent on more mind challenging things like math or writing. More time being practiced on these skills would result in a better overall performance. Adding on, another reason is that kids
Recess helps create social and other developments. For example according to the American Heart Association they say, “Recess time has been championed as a way to help combat the notions childhood obesity problem. Studies also have shown that the free-play that comes with recess is crucial to a child’s cognitive, social and emotional development” (American Heart Association). This evidence proves
My first reason, Why I think we should have recess Is because It helps kids learn. By giving them a way to explore different things around them. Helps kids brains reset and it is also Scientifically tested. And last It helps kids improve their memberizion skills.
However schools should have recess because students can be less stressed. According to Pathway outside the classroom students can be loud and animated, they do not need to be stressed. This supports my claim because students only
The purpose of this research review is to look at how physical education, and recess can play a part in helping elementary students stay focused in class. Using reviews of five research studies that were written in academic, and peer reviewed journals that were found on the National University Virtual Library. The purpose of this paper is to summarize the process that was used to and to exam their findings.
Should students have recess or not? Many people say that kids should have recces… well manly kids but you get the idea (i am a kid but whatever). Now i have a several reasons as to why we should have recces, but i will only be telling you a few.
One of the main reasons I feel that having recess or free time is helpful to students is it can help them focus better when they get back in class. Having long periods back to back where all you do is read, type, discuss, and answer questions is very tiring and energy consuming. I feel that if we could put a time devoted for recess would help the students break up that time of schooling.
As children, the playground is a place they look forward to going. A place where they learn many important things while having fun. By playing with others that may be of the same age group, they are learning how to make friends, share, and interact with others. They are learning and developing their communication as well as social skills. Unfortunately, the playground is also a place where children learn and experience the concept of bullying. In the article the playground gets even tougher, Pamela Paul brings up the point that bullying is starting at an earlier age, as early as kindergarten. The article focused on the how often bullying occurred on school playgrounds. A group of kindergarten girls regularly picked on and harassed scarlett.
Yaaaaa, that is what fun sounds like!! Children are not really looking forward to recess to play, but mainly to get out of class. We need more playground equipment so children actually look forward to recess.
Bullying often occurs when a student is alone or picked out of a group. Encouraging teachers, monitors or parents to be out in the hallways before or after class, during breaks and lunch and after school will lower the risk of bullying at school. When I was in junior high, the altercation that ended with me being bullied was largely because of the lack of teachers out in the halls after class ended. Better ongoing focus leads to less bullying, safer school environments and more student confidence in the school system.
The Bully can be either a boy or girl big or small and tall or short . Also a Bully play the biggest role in a bullying situation because their the ones why the situation goes on if their wasn’t a bully their wouldn’t be a situation on bullying but bullying in preschool be minor incidents like for example: small little thing like seats, toys, and small little comments like “ youre not my friend” or “I don’t want to play with you”. When elementery school come around bullying come more serious of the fact that some people say harmful things and mean it for example: they make people give them their belongings and also they start showing physical hate toward other kids. They take kids belongs by sometimes saying “ give me you stuff before I
