We need to be a school district that prepares all students to be productive members of society. We need to expose our students to the real world and help them see that the world is bigger than our very small community. We need to ensure that all students have the opportunity to succeed and reach their goals. We need be a school with a pluralistic culture. Our students need to be culturally competent and have a good understanding of diversity. We need to promote the acceptance and celebration of people from all walks of life. We need to develop a supportive atmosphere where students feel they can express their beliefs freely without prejudice or judgment.

Our school aims to provide a healthy balance between recognition and consequences. Pupils should learn to expect recognition for positive behaviour and fair and consistently applied consequences for inappropriate behaviour.

Why? Your grades depict your future, for example, completing your classwork and homework is important because they are the main part of your grade; yes, assessments/projects weigh more, but before you get to assessments and projects you have to learn and practice the topic which is why you have homework and classwork all the time, to practice for your assessment. So if you do not complete the two, your grade will start to plummet. Not completing your work is a sign of laziness and a lack of commitment. When you start your school year off you usually have to take a pre-test, which is an assessment that measures what you already know on a course topic. Then at the end of the year, you have to undertake the post-test, which measures if/what you have learned anything throughout the school year. On the pre and post tests that I have received thus far, I would like to say that I have done well on them, on the College Readiness Rubric I have received a 3 out of 4. Other than the pre and post tests, there are two other assessments that are very important to take, they are the PSAT and the College Placement Test (ALEKS), these two assessments are important in life because you may have an opportunity to receive scholarships down the road, it’s a huge confidence booster, and if you do well on the PSAT then that can indicate how well you do on your SAT. Keeping my grades up will open new doors by expanding my job choices when I graduate high school and college. Also, having high grades will give me the opportunity to be on honor roll and high honor roll. Honor roll gives me a chance to be remembered for my academic abilities. Students should share their experiences to the benefit of their peers, demonstrate respect and tolerance of different viewpoints, and be able to effectively handle challenges to their own perspectives for an overall positive learning experience.

How do students and staff build upon school spirit? School spirit can be shown by wearing school colours, attending school functions, and being involved in school sports or clubs. School spirit helps facilitate ones’ attachment to the school eventually leading to higher application rates to graduate studies within the same university and more donations from alumni. “Spirit” is an important investment for the school to work on because it facilitates funds.

Finally, achieving a high grade in college is more difficult than in high school. In high school, grades are easier to achieve and there are greater opportunities for marks. Usually, a student is graded on many different areas, including; attendance, participation, effort, and organization. Also, students are graded on evaluations and assignments.
