Are Athletes getting paid too much? Some would say yes, some would say no. Athletes are paid based off their skills, talent and their work ethic. I believe it’s what drives kids and or students to strive to be their very best because they as student athletes can only dream of a life like this. One sport where people athletes are overpaid is Major League Baseball. Baseball players are given vasts sums of money based on their performance, however there are many other reasons that I personally feel qualifies them for high salaries other than performance. Do I think athletes are overpaid? In my mind, absolutely not. Giancarlo Stanton of the Miami Marlins was given a three hundred plus million dollar contract over thirteen years. A long time ago, the United States bought Alaska for seven point two million dollars.. Granted that money was probably way more valuable then it is now, but now it seems like millions of …show more content…
We're so caught up in the moment of their big game or play, that we become blown away with their talent. At that point, the amount of money they make doesn't even matter. I know when I go to games it's to have fun, hope for a win, and watch both teams compete with all the talent on the field. Football, Baseball, Basketball, it doesn't matter. Those players make things that are hard to us look easy for them. they wow us every single game day in and day out and that's what I think matters. I know personally speaking, that I have many great memories of attending baseball games throughout the span of my life. All levels of games, minor league here in Modesto, to the MLB in San Francisco. I’ve been lucky enough to meet a few professional ball players that have played or are still currently playing for the SF Giants. I can tell you that they have given me so much more in those meetings, than any amount I’ve paid for an actual ticket to a
People should think twice before assuming that professional athletes are overpaid. Looking further into the facts, stats, and emotions of the whole situation might give one insight before concluding that they 're overpaid athletes that just do a sport. One cannot say pro athletes are overpaid when there are others out
Athletes are overpaid by their couches and businesses just for playing in their team’s games and doing commercials. Even after they retire they still make more money than they work for. They are paid millions every year, Shaqeel Oneel made enough money that he could hire builders to make him a full sized basketball court in his basement. Furthermore, Peyton Manning makes about 700 thousand after he retired. Most athletes don’t know how to handle that much money a pro football player bought a Ferrari even though he didn’t know how to drive. Another pro NFL player spent 30 thousand dollars on earrings. Some pro athletes know how to spend money a few athletes invested their money in companies. Other athletes donated to charities and other organizations. Few athletes do
IF you don’t think athletes are overpaid your whole opinion about that will change after reading this. There is no reason a person should be paid over 20 million a year unless they discover something new like a disease or cure for cancer. You should be paid like 10 million per year not 150 on average.Normal people only get like 75000 a year but nba people get 50 million. Or there are most NFL players getting overpaid so its very bad on the payroll. The NFL and NBA need to get paid less with there association it is very bad with there system.
Do professional athletes get paid enough? No, because they do a lot of work and strength in their fields and they don’t get enough credit for what they do for the team & fans. Lots get injured or get suspended, but they don’t get paid enough for what they go through every game, fans and other people may think it is just easy to get in a field and boom, you can play like you’re playing a video game. Players on pro teams are tough and more difficult than it looks, and those players aren’t getting enough money for what they do. Most go to college, are unique players, & and lots are role models.
There are many reasons why athletes are not overpaid. For example, professional athletes deserve exorbitant salaries so that it can carry them for the short amount of time they can play. If an athlete only plays for five years, they would need to have money that could carry them for a protracted time. If athletes made what ordinary people made, then we would be seeing famous athletes on the streets
Athletes in the United States are overpaid. Do they really need that much money for just playing a sport? There are people who save lives such as firefighters or nurses who do not get paid nearly that.
Professional athletes are paid exactly what they deserve and they work harder and risk more than people think.Athletes put their blood sweat and tears into this. Also according to athletes earn what they deserve, athletes on average at the end of the career make 24 million just like the rest of the world.
Professional athletes today make entirely too much money. They make millions of dollars and some even make in the hundreds of millions over the life of the contract. Some will argue that these athletes are being paid according to their abilities and deserve to make this kind of money, however, I firmly disagree. Professional athletes are being overpaid today as compared to average people.
Ahletes get overpaid because as soon as they get the money they dont know what to do with it so they spend it on tings they dont nedd. One piece of eveedence is Knny Anderson complians about insurance on 8 cars. Another reason is, 79% of national football leauge players go bankrupt or in financal trouble within two years of retirment. The last reason is, many athletes dont know how to spend thier money wisley. Most athletes spend money on earings, cars, and houses.
Athletes have been entertaining the world for hundreds of years. The highest paid athlete in 2015 is Floyd Mayweather. Mayweather has an estimated net worth of $400 million dollars. Mayweather was paid $220 million to fight in the ring against Manny Pacquaio for only 36 minutes. $220 million for 36 minutes is outrageous (ESPN Par 6). Most people can’t get that amount of money in their lifetime. In my opinion athlete’s salaries are way too high for what they’re doing. They are just entertaining people around the world and should not get millions of dollars for it. There are a lot of people in this world that work harder than athletes and have jobs that benefit society and don’t get paid as much as athletes do. People who have jobs and make an impact on society should make more money than athletes that are just entertaining
In my opinion, actors/actresses and professional athletes are not overpaid. Their average in come is actually middle to low, the highest making performers and athletes are quite few, and we have a very skewed perception due to the media we are exposed to.
Have you ever wondered if athletes are actually overpaid? Do they need all the money they get? The answer is of course they need the money they get. I would imagine you would think why well it’s because athletes always are working hard for entertainment and for people. They dedicate all of their lives for a sport. They could get horrifically injured. But worst of all they don’t work that long in the sports they do and sometimes would never be able to work ever again at most sometimes 14 years.
Today 's professional athletes make ridiculous salaries and are only increasing year after year. Every year we hear how a professional athlete just signed a contract worth a record amount. Then about the same time next year we hear about another athlete is signing a new contract worth even more than the previous high. Professional athletes are making too much money in a society that salaries and wages are typically based on the value of ones work.
What are the reasons for Professional Athletes being overpaid? Athletes are paid millions of dollars each year to play a sport that was most likely played as a kid. Suddenly, they are now being paid extremely high salaries each year to perform on television. The reasons why Professional Athletes are being paid millions of dollars a year is because performing on national television, long-term financial and social consequences, and endorsements.
In essence, athletes are not overpaid because if we cut the average NFL salary to 500k, athletes could be paid 150k or less per year and would only be about 2 years worth for an average American citizen who’s paid about 81k per year. You may not believe this but if athletes were paid 150k, Brain surgeons are paid 4 times that much and already paid more than some nfl
