Social media is a fast growing platform, which can be used to enhance the effectiveness of the way in which a large public service such as the NHS communicates with the population (Bashar, Ahmad and Wasiq, 2012). During this experience, I learned how successful the ALS Association really is. The ALS Association is currently trying to get speciality licenses plates made, but in order to do so there is a certain quota they have to meet. Their success is shown by them having almost met this quota. The more they sell, the more money they have for ALS research. Their success is also shown by how much money they have raised throughout the walks they have held this year. Over sixty-eight thousand dollars has been raised this year just at these
Social media (digital technology) platforms are defined as any form of digital communication through which users create online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages, and other content (such as videos). Over the last several years, the use of social media platforms such as blogs, text messaging, games, and Twitter, have had significant growth. Facebook, being the most popular, has over 24 million active users per day, which is 37.5% of the population. The beauty of social media is that users have an environment where they can share posts, photos, videos, and even music to people around the world instantly. Social media is evolving

Social media has been a huge way that companies get people to buy things or donate money. Social media can have huge impacts on people by showing the things that are going wrong; like how the elephants are dying by poachers. If people don't help the elephants they can become extinct and they will not be around any more. The way social media knows me is by knowing what kind of things that can catch my attention, they do this by showing my things that I can buy to donate to this charity. Ivory Ella catches my attention by showing me how the elephants are dying in the wild by poaching. A way that social media catches people's attention is by the way they can catch the reader's attention by the things that are going wrong. Most people know that the charities need help, but social media makes people want to donate to this charity. With social media doing this it will make people know that this organization need help to raise money. For example the social media sites may give you shirts or pictures to show that you have donated money to that charity. Some other social media sites try to get people more involved in

First and foremost, social media can be great health surveillance to the public since it often complement the information gathered by the professionals that provides a better understanding on healthcare and diseases. As what Gary W. Lawson mentions in his article, "social media plays a vital role during a health crisis because people are in search of the cure, the signs of symptoms, management, and all other information that they can learn to be better informed about a specific disease”. This set of online communication helps in not only encouraging healthy lifestyle, but it also function as a medium in providing information in the risk of a particular disease and steps of prevention. What set “Help Is In Our Blood” apart from the other teams was our community involvement and education. We wanted our community to hear us and want to participate. We rented out the Lido Theatre for a screening of “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” we had a wine-tasting event for adults, we held a GRIT Cycle “Karma Ride,” and we did a March Madness Basketball Tournament. Not every event was a big money raiser, but collectively the events reached our community and touched people. People wanted to support us. As the donations started rolling in and checks were being received in the mail, the money we raised increased and increased. It was only 2 weeks after our campaign launch and we surpassed our goal of $5,000. At our weekly meeting, our LLS advisor pushed us to bump our goal up to $15,000 and so we did. It was all very exciting and exhausting at the same
In today's general public, many individuals are presently taking an interest in beneficent acts like never before some time recently. This can be found in the renowned ALS test, or ice basin challenge, where individuals play out a test where they pour super cold water on themselves. Individuals do this to spread attention to the ALS ailment and in a way it can be viewed as a motivator beneficent act. Many individuals chose to be a piece of this test since it was considered amusing to do, I mean everybody messes around with water, and that as well as in the meantime they were spreading attention to the infection; now and again individuals would give cash too. Numerous foundations offer motivations for their gifts. It is even observed at
In this day and age, social media has become an integral part of our lives. It has created a platform for people to share information instantly and communicate with people all around the world. Facebook is the most outstanding example of successful social media network. According to the first quarter 2015 earnings announcement by Facebook, the site has achieved 1.44 billion active users per month, and 65% of which are daily active users. Other social networking sites such as Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn are also a powerful means of communication. With such a large audience, social networking sites provide ample opportunities to acquire information, network, and connect with friends.
Since we are given these incredible tools to communicate, we need to use them. An example of a time that social media was used for good was last year when the Stop Kony campaign was trending on twitter. At it’s most popular time, #StopKony was tweeted more 1200 times a minute. The Stop Kony marketing team created a video as an experiment, having no idea that they would change the
Social media is out there to help us every day. People can use it to research nearly everything, for example things like communication and even business marketing. There are many channels of social media. A few examples are Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube, just to name a few of the popular ones.
In the age of social media, the world is greatly capable of connecting with others globally, “According to estimates, the number of worldwide social media users reached 1.96 billion and is expected to grow to some 2.5 billion by 2018” (“Statista”). Whether or not these connections are meaningful, are debatable. Especially when the number of those with social media accounts don’t match up with the number of people at protests. When social issues are now more blatant than ever due to social networking, the idea of social change through the use of social media is being tested daily. However, that “assistance” from social media might be doing more harm than good and creating a platform where entropy is taking hold instead. Although social media acts as a great tool to spread news and gather people, it isn’t sufficient enough to be what solely powers social change. Especially when it isn’t being properly utilized to help society reach real change.
