Statement of Purpose
Environmental issues are not restricted to specific regions, but are global and this makes tackling them even more difficult. Problems such as rising pollution levels, climate change phenomena and resource depletion threaten to ruin our future if unchecked. Water, soil and air pollution have been responsible for many illnesses and fatalities all over the world. It has been estimated that approximately 12.6 million people died as a result of living or working in unhealthy environments. Access to safe and clean energy is another challenge the world is facing today. Many rural regions in India and many other countries still lack access to usable energy. Since my early days in college, I have made an attempt to gain a deeper understanding of these problems. My love and passion for the environment grew as I kept learning and as a student of engineering, I was determined to come up with solutions to these environmental challenges. This is what drove me towards the field of Environmental Engineering.
I chose to study Chemical

My primary research interest would be in achieving energy-efficient water treatment to produce safe drinking water. This is very important today in the scenario of clean water scarcity, especially in poor nations. Polluted water is a major problem in India where water-borne diseases contribute to around 22% of all illnesses. I am very interested in the research being conducted by Dr. Gary Amy in the field of water treatment. I am also interested in the research on sustainable water treatment being carried out by Dr. Sudeep Popat. I believe that using an inter-disciplinary approach is the key to solving environmental problems. I am keen on engaging with students and faculty across various disciplines such as chemistry, biology and geology to create a nexus of information. I would like to specialize in the area of Environmental
Every region of the world faces some form of serious environmental issues. Whether it be pollution, overpopulation, wildlife extinction, or the many other issues we are faced with; it is time for us to make a plan towards a future for our planet. With living in the United States, we often do not have exposure to the issues affecting many parts of the world except through television. However, we need to personally expose ourselves to other regions as their problems can lead to everyone’s problem.
In today’s society, environmental problems are a big problem that plague our world. These detrimental changes are creating astonishing problems for every living organism. Global warming is not a myth. Glaciers are rapidly melting, ecosystems are being destroyed, trees are being cut down for profit, and the globe is warming up and changing our normal climate. Everyone is a contributor to these changes, whether it is a big contribution or a small one. Big businesses and governments all around the world are contributing to the increase in pollution. Factories release chemical waste into our air, and oceans which over time causes holes in our ozone layer. This is not a small easily reversible problem. Chemical air pollution causes problems to not only our environment, but to all the species living on this earth.
Finally, I know that many remain unenlightened about the issues facing us today and in the future. By studying in college and working in the field of environmental engineering, I will become an expert on the problems and their solutions, and I aim to share that knowledge with the world. I want to be able to communicate to people the necessity for action and push for environmental policies. In order to make change people must understand why change is imperative. By spreading the word and calling for action I want to inspire change and leave a lasting impact upon our
Pollution has become a prevalent issue worldwide and has begun to affect the air used to breathe, the soil used to grow food, and the water used to drink. All of these effects result in commonly occurring destruction of health and wildlife that one may have seen on the news or heard from peers. In order to live, one needs food, water, clothing, and shelter. If the water and food that society consumes gets contaminated, a major component of life has been eradicated, which can only have negative consequences. If more people are educated as to what effects the environment, the world has a chance to counteract the effects of pollution. The main causes of pollution are the burning of fossil fuels such as with car exhausts, littering as a result of societal norms and laziness, and factory waste as a result of lax waste regulation, and can result in mass destruction of the environment and catastrophic effects on the everyday lives of contemporary people.
Global environmental problems of our time. Over the past millennium civilization and technology has made a significant leap forward in the development. The one thing in human life remains the same: all that civilization is able to gather in their barns, stored behind high fences special bases to stuff on the shelves, cupboards and refrigerators home - all this is taken from the environment. And all the rhythm of human life, as in the past era, and today is defined by one - the ability to access the certain natural resources. Over the years, this co-existence with nature, natural resources was considerably reduced. However, the very nature has taken care of to ensure that a person has inexhaustible
Preserving the environment is one of the most critical issues we are facing today. How we act now will determine the fate of future generations. What really inspired me to consider environmental engineering as a profession was my Advanced Placement Environmental Science class in high school – it opened my eyes to global issues such as overpopulation, loss of biodiversity, inefficient energy sources, irresponsible waste disposal, etc. - and it motivated me to want to do something about it. What I want to ultimately accomplish in this field of work is facilitate the growth of the use of renewable energy sources, support responsible population reduction initiatives, and develop agricultural practices that ensure food and water security for every single person on the planet.
“If you want to go beyond that small percentage of people who are already environmentally and scientifically aware, you have to make your work somehow link with a passion, interest, or profession of someone who isn 't interested in science or nature” (Nalini Nadkarni, n.d.). Like most who are not fully educated on a subject until they research it or take a course on it, I was not aware of the overall importance or impact that environmental science had on my everyday life and the world around me. One of the major things that have been brought to my attention in this course is environmental issues, and what I can do to help improve them.
“Marketing is not the art of finding clever ways to dispose of what you make. It is the art of creating genuine customer value.”
The natural environment that creates our basic standard for living is becoming more threatened by the human use. Not only the natural resources are being consumed to its limits, but also the procedures behind extracting those resources have a damaging effect on the environment.
Environmental problems are known to be a “Wicked problem” because there are so many sides one must please, and ultimately never solve. From power, transportation, food scarcity; each one of these face technological and government borders. The fact is it is hard to make people agree, it is truly remarkable that the United Nations still stands and operates today when so many earlier versions of it have failed. Still when countries are not at war together, their own country is not revolution, the topic of the environment takes center stage. Because events like global warming are not one country's problem, btu everyone's as humans are all connected by the same ocean. Brining in environmentally friendly buildings, to working with municipalities, schools, and communities to become more green. How the ever growing population leads to more problems, and above all how one teacher can make a difference in so many student's lives. The world is forever changing, which is why humans have to change with it, and what not better time to change when one leaves the comfort of their parents and embark of to their first grand adventure to university.
Learning knows no bounds; a keen desire to extend my knowledge and to learn from real-world learning experience has prompted me to pursue Master's degree in Information Systems (MSIS).
Environmental can includes the natural resources, concern in this area is shortage of raw material and increased pollution.
Environment issues are destructive effect from human activity on the nature. In the day ages, there are many types of environment issues in the Earth. Most countries focus on environment issues and there are more pressure when government solving these problems. Earth 's environment is an important factor in the survival of mankind and environmental issues that affect human life. Therefore, Protecting the environment is human responsibility. And Equal protection of the environment to protect ourselves. Global warming, shortage resources and ocean pollution are major environment issues and pressure around the world. The number of reasons and influence of these environment problems and pressures will be given.
Because of the increased population and urbanization, we have now stretched the environment to its limits. People are nowadays more familiar with the problem and it´s effect on human life and our planet. We live in a modern society where we consume more power than we can.
The environment has no replacement, and therefore, it is the role of the earth’s inhabitant to ensure it is handled correctly. International Environment Movements have stepped in to aid in the fight of saving the environment for the future generation. The key concerns identified by International
