On the Friday the 6th of January, I was very disappointed to be to be told about a silly and dangerous where chairs were thrown from the top window of WD302. After finishing my meeting with Ferry and Natasha, I went to WD302 earlier eager to teach my class for my session between 2: 00 and 4:00. After being told about the incident by Anthony, I talked to all the students about the seriousness of the issue and I asked the way forward to tell the truth and I distributed papers for students to admit if they have done it. They all wrote their name and said “It was not me” At this point security and Desmond arrived, we all talked to them about the serious of the issue. The students who were identified not be in the room, were instructed to go
I excited that teaching in the DPP is about to become reality. Daniel and I have enjoyed meeting everyone over the past 3 months. I know Ms. Yates preferred Monday or Tuesday evening. I am going to contact Morgan Kirkland today about April’s Class zero or setting up another meeting time. I will send any updates I get from Ms. Kirkland.
Chace, W. M. (2012). A Question of Honor: Cheating on campus undermines the reputation of our universities and the value of their degrees. Now is the time for students themselves to stop it. (Cover story). American Scholar, 81(2), 20-32.
What most influenced my decision and interpretations in this case was the fact that the students could not be trusted with concealing the identities of the interviewees within the article, since it was proven that their identities were not fully hidden. The topics in the article were about teen pregnancy and criticism of parents, which can be controversial and thus distracting in a school environment. The principal of the school, upon observation, noticed the identities were not hidden well. With a deadline to meet, there was no way the students would have been able to revise the newspaper and reorganize the articles, so the principal took out the pages. In this case the principal made a responsible decision given the interests of the school
I was not at all conflicted with the choosing of my topic, feminism was something that I was previously passionate about and was excited to then further explore. Once my topic was selected, creating my hypothesis was something which caused me great turmoil. With such a broad topic the possibilities of what my focus would be on was endless. When my teacher asked me what my topic would be about, I made the decision to research ‘How society perceives feminism today.’
The doctor of nursing practice (DNP) professional, regarding care of the general population, must consider many situations that may alter the delivery of effective medical treatments. In the beginning of this class we reviewed many of those situations with greater focus on the vulnerability populations. Preventive care remains by far the best interventions for this group. The prepared DNP professional must be ready to assess and address effectively epidemiology and health as well as facilitating evidence-based further development of healthier people priority tasks.
Through my prior experiences, I have learned a large variety of skills, some of which include attention to detail, communication skills, and leadership. At UCSD Movement Disorders Center I was exposed to patient paperwork with sensitive information. Editing patient videos, I learned to recognized and distinguish small nuances in similar neurodegenerative diseases. I quickly learned the basics of the tests for neurodegenerative tests and why they do those tests. While the work was repetitive, I could develop ways to efficiently move through the work with precision. At UCSD I was learned how to speak up if I was unsure about what I was looking at, and by communicating with my supervisor in this way I learned much more than if I had stayed
And a student made a mistake on another student arm but his technique was not overly scrutinize, when this year I made not mistakes on anybody arm. And my friend was okay with sharing grades until the instructors made a huge deal out of it. Additionally, I missed lab and lecture for urinalysis and this effected my lab practical grade for urinalysis. The Associate Dean, charged with me indecent conduct but later on I appeal the decision because the charge was misleading and I called Ferpa for clarification. Asking for a student grade is not indecent, but this is consider a fact and not opinion and my friend and I would not discuss grades since this has become a problem with the instructors. And she stated: "The instructors were making a big deal out of it." I told the Associate Dean, this could effect future employment, phi theta kappa and permanent record. On March 21st and 22nd the instructors was reading private information that belong to me in front of other students. And making inappropriate comments and during the lab exam in urinalysis I had to use a different microscope and not the one I am use to using. And
I place a call to AL 199019 to schedule a LCDC an appointment with her. She had some time to thinking about our conservation and is unwilling to go residential treatment for 90 days. The client said I am willing to continue my LCDC services for a few more weeks only. She reported having an appointment with Dr. Lemiar a psychiatrist on July 27, 2015 at 10:00am at Legacy Clinic. The client said (“I trust him with my life”). The LCDC will continue to move client through the stage of change.
WLD 992 teaches me techniques on thesis writing, sources analysis, and evidence incorporation in writing. Now instead of wasting time on writing a long and complicated thesis statement, I learned how to convey my main idea through a simple but clear sentence with specific reasoning; this significantly decreases my time in writing the introduction during timed writes, and now knowing that I could write better thesis in less time greatly reduces my fear for the timed WLD 57 final. The group reviewing and revising for evidence and paragraph were especially useful as I observed how others incorporate and analyze a piece of evidence. Moreover, after weeks of learning about fake news, I no longer accept any news without doubting the credibility of
I would like to include my personal reflections about what I have learned from completing Assignment 3 in NURS 436. First, I choose the format of a journal because I felt this was the best way that I could display the information about what I had learned. When reflecting on this assignment, I realized the importance of treating the patient’s illness and the need to have a more holistic view of the individual as a whole as well as the family that they are a part of. This ideal relates to the patients, their families and how sometimes as healthcare providers we can do damage by making assumptions that may not be accurate. Looking at both sets of patients encouraged me to critically think of why or why I did not select certain individuals for
Upon arrival, I was greeted by the secretary of the program, Geraldine Jean-Baptiste. I informed her that this week concludes the WLG program. She stated that it was a pleasure working with me, DYCD and LaGuardia Community College. I collected the last timesheet for, Kristina Lang, which was free of any errors. The secretary also informed me that the participant was outstanding in terms of work duties and ethics. Overall, I was able to conclude that this worksite was in compliance with DYCD rules and regulations for all 25 weeks of the program.
The last option we had was to sue. It would cost us too much money if we lost and we had a high chance of losing because what student would tell on the person who determines whether they pass or not. We would lose both ways so we decided not to sue. Because they still got reported for it there were two or three teachers worried about their job. They were so worried that they had the confidence to call my mom and say they were sorry, but it didn’t show in
The students are being slightly discreet and do deserve the benefit of the doubt to correct their behavior before more formal action is necessary. I do not agree with Hugh’s mentality to record the students without their knowledge. Not only is it too extreme for this particular situation, but also can have major legal repercussions. Usually in situation such as this, word spreads and there is no need to retrieve actual physical evidence. There is no need for threats and Hugh’s approach could potentially have the opposite effect. Hugh is not in the position where he can make threats to expose the students. Coercion would not correct the behavior but only hide it from
As I continued to my lunch table I told my group of friends what I had discovered on my way there. What really surprised me the most is that everybody already knew about it and not even the principal was alarmed about it. Nobody in school was going to do anything because we were already so used to this kind of stuff. Everybody was talking about the girl as if she wasn’t there but in reality she really was there listening to everything everyone was
Technology is rapidly evolving and changing, and as a result of the increasing availability and propagation of several forms of technology, academic dishonesty cases in every college and university have greatly multiplied and become a global issue. The issue on cheating behaviors in students is so pervasive and uncontrollable that it is almost considered as commonplace (Arhin & Jones, 2009). One of the hardest challenges for educators is knowing how and when to discipline their students. In the given scenario, there are several issues to take into account; the first and foremost being the issue of academic dishonesty. Academic dishonesty is defined by the Webster dictionary as the intentional participation in deceptive practices regarding one’s academic work or the work of another (Faucher & Caves, 2009). Jones (2011) states that many institutions of higher education have adopted academic dishonesty policies, instituted academic integrity tutorial completion prerequisites for next term registration, and acquired plagiarism software detection tools. They go on to say that within the past few years, high-tech cheating is gradually replacing the simple cut-and-paste cheating, and educators must be proactive and develop instructional strategies that integrate all facets of appropriate digital citizenship, that is, digital ethics. By implementing these academic dishonesty and integrity policies and making them attainable to
