The district needs to create more time in the schedule for the students to work collaboratively on projects and activities. Grade level teams of teachers need to be created. These teams will have a common schedule and common planning times which will allow for greater flexibility when creating lessons and activities. The team will also have the ability to meet regularly to deal with common issues, planning, and creating learning that differentiated to individual student needs (Brown & Knowles p. 77).
Practitioners should understand and observe each child’s development and learning, assess their progress and plan their next steps. Practitioners should always support babies and children to develop a positive sense of their own identity and culture. Practitioners should identify any support needed for additional needs. Practitioners need to keep all children safe. Practitioners should help children learn mathematics and literacy as children learn through different stages. My current role of Training Support Officer has a heavy workload and demands that I remain organised and plan weeks ahead of schedule to ensure that all student materials are readily available. In this role I plan and organise all course bookings for in house courses including the preparation and issue of student workbooks, attendance list, feedback forms, arrange catering and stocking of supplies. Furthermore, I coordinate and set up the venue for classes, including trainers presentation materials and audio visual equipment along with maintaining the students record of attendance and competency through PowerPro student management system.
Although the teacher and aides are assigned a grade level, the groups they are with rotate so everyone gets to work with every grade level throughout the day. Mrs. Whaley however, provides math instruction for every grade level (at different times in the afternoon), while Mrs. Beaver and Mrs. Jordan provide additional math help. For example, Mrs. Jordan is able to sit in during 3rd grade math instruction, but once the 3rd graders are done they go to a different table to work on accelerated math with Mrs. Beaver and Mrs. Jordan goes to a different table to provide students with math one-on-one. Often times, Mrs. Jordan works with individuals to improve their math fact fluency. I was not surprised to know that the aides do not leave the resource room at all throughout the day. Unless it is a Jr. Achievement Day, the aides are to remain in the room with the students at all times. For a Jr. Achievement Day, the students we have in the resource room are able to spend the entire day with their peers learning about business and economics. During this time the aides and teachers are going from room to room to check up on the students and make sure they are understanding and able to do the material they are being

As a student teacher, my role and responsibilities with my focus learner is to assist with assessment and program planning. Implementing the IEP goals in the lesson plans. Participate in transition meeting and activities with the focus learner. Promote student’s development in the areas language and literacy, motor development and social emotional development. Submit weekly lesson plans and activities to support UPK standards. Displaying the classroom with appropriately with student’s art work at eye level.
