Chick-fil-A is part of the fast food industry and began distinguishing itself from its competitors through the use of Total Quality Management (TQM). TQM is a positive force which can help Chick-fil-A achieve its critical success factors (CSFs).
In comparison to competitors, Chick-fil-A distinguishes itself through its Christian, corporate purpose, “To glorify god by being a faithful steward to all which is entrusted to us. To have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A” (Chick-fil-A, 2014 (a)). Chick-fil-A is closed for business every Sunday to allow

Chick-fil-A shows its dedication to TQM by implementing quality beyond the food. The environment Chick-fil-A provides is family friendly as shown by Chick-fil-A’s providing crayons and Cheerios for free to its customers. This allows families to feed even the youngest of children and entertain children of all ages. Children can be entertained in the playground area and by coloring at the table so parents can relax and enjoy a meal. This returns to the quality of life that Chick-fil-A wants, not for its employees this time, but for its customers. This all goes to show how “Chick-fil-A exemplified the ‘dare to be different’ principle” (Berry, 2000, p. 131).

The company of restaurants started in 1946 when Truett Cathy opened his first restaurant in Georgia. They are credited with inventing the Chick-Fil-A’s boneless breast of chicken sandwich. In the 1960’s, he pioneered the opening of the restaurant in different malls in Atlanta. It has grown to become the largest quick service chicken restaurant chain in the United States based on their domestic annual sales and with over 1900 branches countrywide. The mission of the restaurant is to give identity and value to their clients and the vision is to be America’s best service quick restaurant.
According to the Chick-fil-A Team Member handbook, “... we strive to maintain an atmosphere of hospitality for all customers. We are hospitable to all customers.” Employees are specially trained to provide a favorable experience when handling visitors or long-time customers. Chick-fil-A began in 1946 in Hapeville, GA, when Truett Cathy opened his first restaurant, Dwarf Grill. The first Chick-fil-A restaurant opened in a mall in suburban Atlanta in 1967. Which is better, Chick-fil-a or Zaxby’s? This is a popular debate. Some people would argue that Zaxby’s is better because they have better chicken. Other people would argue that Chick-fil-a is better because they have better sauces. They both have their benefits, but which is better over all? In order to find this out we can’t go off of taste because everyone has different taste preferences. We must look at many aspects of both restaurants. Some aspects that can determine whether Chick-fil-a or Zaxby’s is better are drinks, desserts, sauces, prices, efficiency, cleanliness, and the attitudes of the workers.
Chick-fil-A, Inc. has grown into one of the most popular establishments in the United States offering exemplary customer service and delicious meals since it was first established in 1946. With the company 's success, Chick-fil-A has provided many communities with over a million dollars in food, programs, and donations.
In 1951, S. Truett Cathy made an outstanding discovery. After fifteen years of being in the greasy fast food business he found a pressure-fryer that could cook a delicious chicken sandwich in the same time as it would a hamburger patty (Chik-Fil-A.com). Cathy loved it. He decided to birth ‘The Chik-Fil-A.’ Because of the noteable all chicken menu and new way of making chicken sandwiches, Cathy came up with the slogan, “We did not invent the chicken, just the chicken sandwich.” Believe it or not Chik-Fil-A is half a century old. The first ever to open was at Greenbriar Mall in Atlanta. Throughout the seventies and eighties this franchise expanded their business by opening new restaurants in mall food courts. Finally in 1986 Chik-Fil-A opened their very first ever freestanding restaurant. Now as of 2015 there at approximately 1,900 locations in forty-two states (Chik-Fil-A.com). There are in fact twenty eight different Chik-Fil-A locations in the state of Arizona. But, in Vail, Arizona, there are zero of
With tons of beef fast food restaurants out there such as McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s and Hardee’s, Chick-fil-A is outnumbered. The majority of fast food places sell hamburgers as their primary food product. Chick-fil-A’s attraction is their chicken sandwich, a “healthier” alternative to the hamburger. Chick-fil-A’s position is as a preferred alternative in the burger-dominated fast food industry.
Chick-fil-A is one of the most successful fast food restaurant establishments in the country. With over 1,300 locations in 37 states in the Southern U.S., they continue to grow the brand by expanding to new territories (Chick-fil-A Company, 2009, para 1). In 2008 Chick-fil-A has seen a 12.17 percent sales increase over the chain’s 2007 performance and a same store sale increase of 4.59 percent (Chick-fil-A Company, 2009, para1). Throughout the years Chick-fil-A has come up with many innovative ideas to continue expanding business and satisfying their loyal customers. One of the ideas was to offer different types of restaurant set-ups to cater to customer’s needs. The different restaurant set-ups include mall/in
The originator of Chick-fil-A is Truett Cathy and his business has been effective. Truett Cathy was brought up in Atlanta built up a logic right on time in life. When Mr. Cathy went to the armed force and after serving in the armed force, Cathy opened the Dwarf Grill in Atlanta. When Cathy was working at the Dwarf Grill, he needed his business to extend so he starts to make a chicken sandwich call the "Chick-fil-A". Chick-fil-A began in Atlanta, Georgia and made it around the world. At the point when Mr. Cathy saw that individuals cherished his sustenance, he began to place them in shopping centers, healing facilities, and schools. In the wake of putting his sustenance into different organizations it revenue over $10 million. Chick-fil-A has made its stamp in the publicizing scene with its "Eat Mor Chikin" campaign. Chick-fil-A has stretched a long ways past and showing improvement over different eateries. (Starrs Chris,
Chick-fil-A is affected by numerous external forces which challenge upper management’s ability to make Chick-fil-A "America’s best quick-service restaurant". Through intense strategic planning, based upon the vision, mission and corporate values, Chick-fil-A has been able to establish a unique position in a very competitive industry. The corporate purpose of Chick-fil-A, "To glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us and to have a positive influence on all who come into contact witch Chick-fil-A", their commitment to family and the community, and their sound business decisions, have made Chick-fil-A one of the most profitable and fastest growing quick-service restaurants
Chick-Fil-A is a fast food restaurant that I love it got wide variety of foods including breakfast in the mornings, grilled chicken, and more healthier options. The drinks always have free refills It also is very child friendly has most restaurants where they even have a play land for the kids and have kids meals. The restaurant is always clean inside and the wait for all foods are less than 15-20 minutes. The employees look very clean they always have ironed clothes and is always wearing their full uniform. When I went to order I ordered a regular chicken sandwich meal with fries and a milk shake. The person who take my ordered smiled and was very polite, I have had always good service at Chick-Fil-A. When I got my food
Firstly, Chic Fil A operates mostly on weekends and is closed on Sundays. The majority of people usually go for picnics on weekends, especially on Sundays. Many people like to go out to eat after church on Sundays. Chick Fil A is missing out on this opportunity for making more revenues and money of its returns (Nelson, 2015). Secondly, the company lacks product differentiation. The menu consists pretty much all just chicken dishes and sandwiches. Thirdly, embracing of Christian-based values as the key business principles caused resentment and product boycotts from gays and lesbians (Sieczkowski, 2014). The majority of people in this group felt the company interfered with their rights. Such aspect is likely
According to Reed, Lemak, & Mero (2000), it has been discovered that more and more organizations employ the practice of Total Quality Management as a strategic foundation for generating a competitive advantage.

The Highways Agency was able to overcome many of the largest challenges to successfully implementing an organization-wide Total Quality Management (TQM) initiative by concentrating on change management and cross-department integration and coordination. The overall effect on the Highway Agency was a unified TQM framework that resonated with strong change management performance levels. "Best practices in TQM programs and strategies are predicated on and anchored in effective ongoing leadership of the programs that focus on knowledge sharing" (Oakland, 2011). All of these factors together led to a much greater level of coordination and synchronization across the Highway Agency which reduced resistance to change, fear of how the changes would impact individual status and roles, while infusing greater knowledge into the organization.
