The Use of Art by Those in Power

Darius the Great was a man who had great leadership, he was the first empire of a large kingdom a kingdom of 20 nation, kingdom of Rome. In the beginning Darius had an issue on figuring out how he will rule 20 nations without causing issues. So Darius came with a plan to outline a scripture of rules on the wall of peace and corruption but there was a flaw in his plan, the people spoke different languages in the nation. He then came up with making different way to rule them by images on the wall, it showed that Darius wants no war and that the people are happy to serve him. Ancient Egyptian art possessed a very specific propaganda function: to promote the divine origins and authority of the Pharaoh and thus a hierarchical social system.

An artist's job is to interpret, and express the aspects of life in a creative fashion. War has played a big part in shaping our human history, and many artists have portrayed their feelings about art through paintings, and even monuments. Whether it be to show; the joy of victory, the sorrow of defeat, or to educate the public on the gory realities of war. Art about war can also show us a great amount of history of the kinds of weapons that were used at the time. It is necessary for artists to interpret, and criticize all aspects of life; even ones as tragic as war, It can make the public more aware of what goes on in times of war.

Since time immemorial, art has been an integral tool in influencing a society, pushing forth ideas, expressing the general atmosphere amongst the party’s involved and fighting vices in the society. Art is fundamental in the transformation of any society through its ability to influence opinions and values. Through sound, vision any other form that art may take, communications is enhanced. Visual art, Music and poetry have always been the most used.

Art helps royalty and rulers spread their ideas and lets their people know the power of the leader, ruler, etc.

Art is a catalyst of change. It can confront both social and political issues as well as providing people with a creative outlet in which they can express their innermost thoughts and feelings - but what effect can art have on our society as a whole? Artists today have the unique ability to connect with people in a creative, innovative way that they can understand and interpret themselves. With this ability, artists are able to express their own views as well as influencing the views of others. Art is an immense part of our world – so much so that we barely even consider its impact upon us – but just how significant is the work of artists in our modern day society?

Art has always held an influential position in the social, economic, and political lives of humankind. I will be doing a creative project about political art with the intention of creating a portfolio which will capture the current state of American politics. I chose this topic because throughout the presidential election, I observed the way candidates and their supporters used visual images to to support their causes. When I participated in the Women’s March On Washington, I was blown away by the creative, funny, and powerful signs I saw. Throughout this year, I found that the one thing almost everyone in my life agrees on is that it was the we are living in an extremely polarized country and time. I want to take senior exploration as an opportunity to convey this intense political climate. I chose to use art, as opposed to writing or music, because I really enjoy it and do not think I will have the opportunity to do much art after high school.

Art is elusive as the use of colors shapes and the surface used adds a new dimension. Art portrays various ideas, feelings such as triumph, love, happiness, sorrow and boredom in loss to mention a few. Art is beauty and creativity. During man’s evolution art has progressed over in its most primitive state up to its most modernized versions today.
