I affirm Resolved: The United States ought to promote democracy in the Middle East Democracy is a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, and is one with representative institutions and a rule of law. Observation 1: when we talk about promoting democracy, there are many ways to carry out this promotion. The United States is not obligated to take one course of action. Rather, the US can alter and adjust its approach to what is most suitable for that situation. Different tools might be appropriate at different points of time as well as differing based on the severity of the situation. The value is Justice, defined as giving each his due, for two reasons: 1) We are debating about what specifically nations and citizens within that nation, specifically those in the Middle East, are due and what they deserve. 2) The resolution specifically asks about the obligation of the US, and obligations stem from justice and giving each his due. The value criterion is protecting Liberty for two reasons: 1) Liberty is in inalienable right of each and every person, and is the pre-political concept that gives us intrinsic worth. 2) Freedom gives us the ability to choose our actions and take them accordingly, and we are debating the actions most appropriate for the US. Contention 1: Promoting democracy protects the liberty of the citizens of the Middle East and US Sub point A: Promoting democracy reduces terrorism Sam Choi from the
From the early 1840s to the present day, a democracy can be described as a flawed establishment which has been shaped by the power of wealth and control, complex social relations, and most importantly the people’s desire to live a fulfilling life. Throughout this time period the principles of democracy, such as equality, protection of the people’s interest, and promotion of human rights were shifting in order to increase the democracy efficiency. Therefore the continued importance of the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence, and Constitution remain significant since, in American today, democracy is a system that is continuously being shaped by the people within it.
Having freedom is what makes the people who they are as humans, and what they are meant to be. Freedom is simple as saying small and easy things, "Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows" (Orwell 84). Before anything else, freedom is the most important thing they can all have, because without it,
Democracy, as it is used today, means “ the people rule.” A democracy is a form of government ruled by the people of the country through elections and representation. A democracy is really a form of republic known as a democratic republic. A republic is a government where officials elected by a small group of people that make the important decisions.

The ideals of democracy have been crafted over a span of centuries, yet it is still not in its purest element. The strive to achieve true democracy is rooted in promotion of education and self-preservation of rights. To stimulate this progress, I must acknowledge my obligation as an American citizen before personal interests. I will use my power by informing others of
Democracy a universally recognized phenomenon refers to a government deriving its power from the people and being answerable to them (Fox 2008). President Abraham Lincoln (Gettysburg Address, 1863) said about democracy "...is a government of the people, by the people, and for the people, shall not vanish from this earth ‘ (Fox 2008). The foundations of democracy in America are found within, “The Declaration of Independence of 1776” and “The Constitution of 1789”, both products of the American Revolution where equality and the rights of man were the focus of their creation (Rodgers 2001). The first half of this paper discusses the notion that despite having the best institutional powers that uphold democratic functions within the American government, this doesn’t always translate into the perfect democratic election.
The United States is usually recognized as a liberal and ideal place to live by most people and countries because of their development of their single most powerful form of government, democracy. The very citizens of the United States believe that it is in their hands to influence all order and management of their beloved and praised country, however, the realism in this system has been blinded by their own people. The United States, though it may seem like a democracy because it emphasizes delegating popular sovereignty, is in no shape or form an absolute democracy where it gives the power to the people to make the decisions or influence law. The contribution of the people is in fact effective and needed, but it is not the citizens who

Since the beginning of American Democracy it has been morphed from the founder’s format. With all its changes, it still functions as a well-constructed form of democracy that supports our nation. American democracy has both strengths and weaknesses. Government spending or over-spending is a core issue facing our nation in these economically troubled times. There are many points to be addressed regarding American government today.
Democracy is the solitary example of a genuine political system in most of the world. According to the text, “Today, sixty-two percent of the countries in the world are democracies.” For example, if the United States did not have the power to spread democracy, it could not influence the International Community to the benefit of national interests. The national interest of the United States not to spend limited resources on warfare when it can be used in a more productive manor. The growth of democracy puts the United States in smaller amounts of positions causing them to make the decision to go to war. A democracy generally does not go to combat with another democracy. The United States is a greatly functioned democracy. Along with Democracy,
Democracy: A system of governance by which all members of a state exercise power directly or elect representatives to form part of a government. This is common method of control in today’s society.
A democracy is a government by the people, in which the power is vested in the people themselves. The people then elect representatives who conduct their power in a free electoral system. The Declaration of Independence, which says that all men are created equal, was written on the premise of a democracy.
A concept of freedom (or liberty) has been the foundation of the United States since its founding in 1776. After all, its Declaration of Independence states that every citizen deserves the rights to “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness”. However, “Liberty” doesn’t just mean a literal freedom from captivity, or the right to live independently from the rule of a monarch. The Constitution preserves multiple different types of Liberty, including the freedom of speech, freedom of expression, freedom of the press, and many more.
Democracy is a form of government in which all eligible citizens have an equal say in the decisions that affect their lives. Democracy allows eligible citizens to participate equally—either directly or through elected representatives—in the proposal, development, and creation of laws. It encompasses social, economic and cultural conditions that enable the free and equal practice of political self-determination.
Theoretically, democracy is a stable form of government where power is in the hands of the people. In a democracy, people have the liberty to elect officials that best represent their interests, and political institutions exist as a result: Benjamin Constant argues in The Liberty of the Ancients Compared with that of the Moderns that “true modern liberty is
