The Patriot. A person who is willing to fight for their country against enemies. The Patriot begins in the year 1776 in the colony of South Carolina. Mel Gibson plays a planation farmer who fought in the French-Indian war named Benjamin Martin. A War was about to begin and Benjamin wanted no share partaking in the soon-to-be American Revolutionary War. He was more concerned about his two eldest sons who wanted to fight under General George Washington. The beginning of the movie starts out with Benjamin Martin peacefully living with his kids whom no longer have a living mother. Benjamin’s oldest son, Gabriel, joins the war without permission from his father. As the rest of the family are at home one afternoon, Colonel William Travington burns the Martin Plantation to the ground and his second oldest son was killed immediately for interrupting Travington’s plan. Benjamin finds a way to seek revenge because of the rage he experiences after his family is hurt. He begins to realize that he needs to fight for his children and he will not do it alone. Both Benjamin and his oldest son, Gabriel, decide to join the militia as a way of showing what they are capable of. Throughout the film, Benjamin Martin becomes a soldier whom others respect and admire. He shows the militia what it means to truly care for not only his men, but also for his family. As the film progresses, a turn of events take place that show Benjamin’s continued want of revenge against General Charles Cornwallis. The Continentals and the militia soon commence the battle at Cowpens. This is when Benjamin Martin meets his enemy, Travington, who murdered his two eldest sons. After a drawn-out battle, Benjamin stabs Travington in the neck and kills him for the sake of his children. It is then that General Cornwallis retreats his forces and the rest celebrate. Even though some portions of The Patriot aren’t as accurate as we perceive, it is a film full of war and despair, but also a film that contributes to the importance of dignity and the love for one’s family. The Patriot attracts an audience who is interested in learning about generalized history, but also wanting to feel a sense of pride and enjoyment in the end as the United States of America is
1776 is a film about the path to American independence. Specifically the actions and conversations that the continental congress took part in. John Adams is the first character that is introduced in the movie. He has proposed the Idea of American independence before the congress 23 times and has been rejected every time because Adams is perceived as obnoxious and disliked within the congress. Adams goes to Benjamin Franklin for help getting congress to listen to him and Franklin suggests that they get Richard Henry Lee to propose Independence instead of Adams, because the congressmen like Lee more than Adams. Richard Lee then proceeds to go to his home colony of Virginia to get approval for the resolution. Lee comes back to Philadelphia
The Patriot also displays this during an assembly to decide whether South Carolina would help in the Revolutionary War by raising troops by levy. One reason presented in this scene is when a man says, “Our rights are being threatened by a tyrant three thousand miles away.” The “rights” this man is talking about is the natural rights they all believe
The movie, The Patriot, is the story of a South Carolina plantation owner, Benjamin Martin, who leads a local militia against British troops in the South during the beginning of the American Revolutionary War. Martin, who is a widower with six children and a veteran of the French and Indian War, wants nothing to do with the war until a brutal British Colonel, William Tavington, kills one of his sons and takes his eldest son, a member of the Continental Army, prisoner. Martin, who’s character is loosely based on Francis Marion, the Swamp Fox, uses guerrilla warfare to cut British supply lines and attack outposts in an attempt to slow General
The colonist were English natives so their tactics were the same as the British army. The Continental Regulars would line up like the British and mimic almost everything they would do. The British are more trained and accurate so they would win every battle. The colonists were going to lose the war if it wasn't for Benjamin Martin. Colonel Tavington shot the son of Benjamin Martin named Thomas Martin. That fired him up and what started the rebellion using the militia. The first sight of the guerilla warfare was when they attempted to take his oldest son. He and his two

Movies are made to be sold and not history to be perfectly told. If movies include a complete history, it wouldn't be known as a movie anymore. However, it would be called a documentary, which most people get fed up of. So interpretations, exaggerations and idealistic scenes are added to the movie to make it more interesting for the audience. "The Patriot" is a similar film made during the modern day time about a time period in which none of the experienced the real revolution. Politically, socially, and culturally, "The Patriot" attempts to give a sense of the scope of aspects involved in the American Revolution. Despite succeeding in this regard, it still lacks details that reveal the true complexity of the mixed sentiments present in
Movies that are based on a book are not always the same. In social studies class, we read a book called Our America. The book is about two boys named LeAlan jones and Lloyd Newman becoming reporters and interviewing people in their neighborhood to show people what it’s like in the ghetto life. The movie that went with the book was very different. In the movie and the book Our America, there were many differences such as Principal Williams momentarily becoming an antagonist, Davis Isay was more important, and Lloyd’s life was focused on more in the movie.
The American Revolution is almost like the civil war but, it is split in three parts instead of two, happened in late 1700s. The movie, The Patriot, is a fictional movie that shows us the battles and life during American Revolution. Some people were forced to fight because their family members died and some did not fight because they did not wanted to risk their family even though both sides are die-hearted patriot. Family could make people do anything. The producers of the movie The Patriot, Dean Devlin, Mark Gordon, and Gary Levinsohn, chose a composite of different colonists, like Francis Marion, Colonel Daniel Morgan, Elijah Clark, Thomas Sumter, and Andrew Pickens, to make Benjamin Martin look better and the hero with no fault what-so-ever.
The most famous patriot at the time was probably the first President of the United States George Washington who led the Continental Army. Other famous Patriots included Paul Revere, Samuel Adams, Ethan Allen, Patrick Henry, and Ben Franklin. Or if you support the other side of the argument here are some famous loyalists. Since the loyalists lost the war, there weren 't as many famous loyalists as there are Patriots. Benedict Arnold was a general in the Continental Army who fought for the British. Another example of a loyalist was Joseph Galloway who was the Pennsylvania delegate to the Continental Congress but later started to work for the British army. Other famous loyalists could be Thomas Hutchinson (the governor of Massachusetts colony), Andrew Allen, John Butler (the leader of the loyalist 's troops Butler 's Rangers), and David Mathews (not the famous singer) (the mayor of New York City). He has to support both of the argument so it will not be biased and there have been some instances wherever the United Kingdom protected America, however, he was on the Patriot 's side Paine begins the pamphlet sense with comments relating to the govt. He sees that folks confuse government with society. Paine argues that society is typically one issue to try to form, where as a result of the govt. is "a necessary evil." Society fosters the fulfillment of our needs, whereas the govt.. is there solely to stay man from gratification his vices. If all folks
From the day you are born you hear the same phrase, “I would do anything to protect you.” A mother’s cause is to protect her child, no matter the situation or dangers it would put her in. The same goes for the brave men that fought for and embraced our independence; their cause was the independence of our new nation and justice for the courageous men that suffered due to the actions of the British. The men that fought in the war were influenced to do so by the authoritative words of Thomas Paine, The Crisis, Number I; Patrick Henry, Speech in the Virginia Convention; and Thomas Jefferson, The Declaration of Independence. Furthermore, in the movie The Patriot, Benjamin Martin uses powerful language and rhetorical questions to persuade people

Historic movies are often produced with the premise that they will tell an honest tale about the past, but how accurate are they really? This includes his interaction with the soldiers and generals, his political stance, and his involvement through the towns. Because the Benjamin Martin is fictional The Patriot cannot be called 100% accurate, but that doesn't mean that other aspects shown were inaccurate. Enemy of the State (1998) is a dramatic movie set in the American context, which critically analyzes the notion, and potential implication, of unrestricted state surveillance. The synopsis of this film is that a man named Robert Clayton (played by Will Smith) is a lawyer who had a chance run-in at a lingerie store with a former college colleague named Jason. Jason is in the midst of attempting to escape from some National Security Agency (NSA) agents. His home was raided shortly before this encounter, because Jason was in possession of a video recording that showed the identity of a congressman’s assassin, and the killer also happened to be a high ranking federal agent named Reynolds. Unbeknownst to Robert, Jason slips this tape into a bag that Robert is holding. The information on that tape could be very damaging to the NSA and so, as the title would suggest, Robert then becomes an enemy of the state.
