Mars Colony Essay For many years, people have envisaged a colony on Mars. Though the task may be daunting to some, the ideas and resources needed to sustain a colony on Mars is very important. The similarities and differences between the ideas presented will be analyzed so that the ideas that will form the future for Earth can be used. Moreover, these ideas will also be compared and contrasted to those from the movie, The Martian. In the Mars-X colony, the government was a popular sovereignty, in other words the people’s say. The Mars-X colony was established on ground rules that stated that everyone shall be equal no matter how wealthy one may be. This can also be said for the other colonies. The Hellas Planitia colony chose to bring livestock embryos and seeds. The livestock embryos could be fertilized and the animal would be born. This would be effective because the livestock embryos would weigh less, than the animal itself. Something else that made the Mars-X colony stand by itself was its all organic way. Unlike other colonies, that brought GMO foods or frozen food, the Mars-X colony didn’t do that. The goal was to give fresh food so that the people on Mars will have a healthy diet. Since GMO foods have chemicals, the Mars-X colony didn’t want any unwanted stuff in the body. In the Martian, Mark Watney used his own feces to plant potatoes. This is similar to the Mars-X colony and others did hydroponic farming. Since human feces will have nutrients that weren’t taken into the digestive system, those nutrients will be able to help the plants grow. In hydroponic farming, the nutrients are delivered in a water solvent so that the plants can absorb the vitamins and minerals they need. In conclusion, both ways of obtaining food were similar. In order for all of this to happen to happen you need energy. Though there were many similarities between how the colonies would receive energy and the Martian, but other colonies used extra energy sources. The Hellas Planitia colony said that they would get energy by solar panels and other means. Mostly all of the colonies stated that they would use solar panels, because of the simplicity. Imagine a new planet with an atmosphere and people roaming around like it was Earth. Scientists can do that by sending just four people to Mars than adding more as the colonists on Mars make additional progress. Scientists have built technology, like a machine that could take the carbon dioxide on Mars and change it into oxygen so people could breath up there. If they are willing to never come back down to Earth let them go up. Colonizing Mars is a terrific idea so the Earth can use the ice hidden underground, the people on Earth will believe that anything is possible, and the people can live up there.

The people that go to mars are risking their lives they can die of many things, including lack of oxygen and sickness. Then we would have a new place to start a new world and find new resources.Once we do this now then we will have all the expenses done and paid for but, if we wait for the future when we have no resources to to make any money then we wouldn’t be able to pay the six billion dollar bill. Mars was just like Earth about four billion years ago. Mars used have a very similar atmosphere and magnetic field until something that is disputed happened around 3.7 billion ago whether that be a huge asteroid hit it, solarwinds destroyed it, or Mars lost it due to its low gravity. The first reason Mars is up for colonization is because Mars has frozen water in its soil. Which means a lot for colonization like the ability to grow plants and a drinking source. Humans have always searched for something better in every aspect of life. Out of this thirst came innovations such as the telephone, motorized vehicle, and even plumbing. Now, some are searching for a new planet to live on altogether, and their eyes are fixed on Mars. A new planet would mean the possibility of saving Earth’s resources by using resource and idea exports from Mars, but also major implications, such as the problems with how Mars’s economy and government will run. Arguments for both staying on Earth and leaving it are strong, but the theories of colonizing Mars cannot be researched without the economic and political lenses.
