Writing is not just marking letters, words, or symbols on a piece of work. My perspective states that writing is not just expressing yourself through words; in fact, it is mostly one’s expression; your emotions, thoughts, beliefs, etc. Correspondingly, according to myself, writing is extremely artistic and evocative way to reveal one self’s personality. Most important, I am in the creative writing class, because I desired to be in it, due to the fact that it is my passion, it is a way I can express myself thoroughly, and it makes me feel as if I am in a whole different world where I can reveal everything I desire.

Writing Is a kind of typing symbols, letters and other writing tools to help the writer communicate with the reader or connect his ideas. It is the fourth skill in language skills and the most one that needs creation and imagination. In this essay, I am going to write about the importance of developing writing.

This past semester I have been taking English 219 which is formally known as essay composition and critical reading. In this class we have focussed mainly on analytical reading, writing summaries, and writing essays. Not only did we discuss how to successfully write an essay we also learned about different tools and techniques that can be used to help discover our position in regards to a topic and many different ways to overcome writers block. There have been many things that I feel I have learned in our English 219 class this semester. Even though I am very happy with the amount of learning I have completed I do still however have some areas that I need to focus on. I will be taking more English classes throughout my college and university education. In English 219 is has been confirmed that we will all have our own individual strengths, weaknesses, and ambitions for the future.

Before starting school, I incapable to write or speak English at all. Because English is my second language I had a hard time understanding how to read and write in English. My parents and older siblings would often teach me the basics of having to know my numbers, ABCs, and by making me memorizing saying simple sentences and questions. English is everyone in my family's second language and because we did not grow up learning how to speak, read, and write in English which made it difficult for me when school started.

When I first came this classroom, my basic writing was a way lower than I thought, because my writing was a kind of messy due to the missing of strong vocabulary words in my sentences, transitional word to tie up my sentences and how to use quotation more efficiently in my writing and to summarize someone else thought. In fact, a major part of those problems was related to my brainstorming because I was always doing a free writing, instead of organizing my thoughts or ideas after the brainstorming. Even though I was a poor, I learn the concept of organization and sentence structure, the way of summarizing and quoting, and to write the comparison and contrast essay.

Completing writing exercises and implementing reading journals can improve an individual’s writing skills. Writing is a participation to set a specific social practise. It is then shaped by social and historical understanding about what writing is, what form it takes and what it is good for in specific contexts (Cremin & Myhill, 2012). Writing, I mean the process that we implant our ideas in; use certain skills to arrange them in a pursuable way and of course polish the words with our heart, differs from what I learned under a circumstance of passing a class or getting a good grade in a language test. I am not born in a circumstance that widely use English, and writing to me is a subject that I need to pass my English classes. I do not like to write things with limited topics and selected materials because that is lame and it does not involve many personal interests in it, I like to write things that can deliver my ideas and thoughts with materials that I interested in. When teaching writing, I employed graphic organizers, drawings, and guiding questions to introduce components of essays and assist students in developing their writing. In addition, I designed courses to allow students to choose topics that they were interested in or relevant to their daily lives for writing assignments. Moreover, I gave mini-lessons on grammar especially when most students made similar grammatical mistakes. Furthermore, I employed Communicative Approach and selected daily topics (e.g., news, hobbies, travel, and favorite local and exotic food) to instruct students in English speaking. For listening, I utilized popular English songs, news videos, and excerpts from TV shows and audiobooks to enhance their listening competence. Since I incorporated various instructional materials and adopted different teaching approaches into my teaching, my students expressed that they enjoyed learning, and their academic performance showed great achievement. Those students who were afraid to speak English in the first class were willing to express their opinions and involved in class discussions in English after my instruction.
