The Importance Of Respect

In daily life showing respect is easy. For example, holding the door for someone and not letting it slam in their face, giving up your seat on the bus to the elderly or someone else who needs it, or by simply ignoring an opinion that may differ from ours instead of berating the original poster on why they are wrong. With a little bit of respect for one another we can all make the world a better place for everyone that lives on Earth.

Respect is very important both in the military and in the civilian world. In most cases, people can easily tell when someone respects them or not. Once they feel that they are being respected, they can instill more trust into a person, respect them back, and take what the person says to heart. They can put faith into that person. Once we earn someone’s respect, it is much easier to gain his or her cooperation. It is much easier to have them support us and take our sides. We don’t have to put as much effort in to getting them to listen to an order or doing what they are told. Respect must be EARNED. You must provide someone with your respect before they show you the same respect. This is what I mean by earning it. I do not believe that respect can be demanded or forced. Demanding someone’s respect will most likely lead to some type of conflict. Respect

Respect is something that we all want and it's a major aspect of esteem. Getting respect from people requires behaving like a respectful person. This means showing dedication to your career, your sobriety, and treating them with the respect they deserve.

When we respect each other, there are fewer conflicts. People get along easier and avoid the unnecessary drama associated with a lack of respect.

It is created when people treat others as they want to be treated. So the growth of something, such as respect, often nourishes itself from its own process and dynamics. Being the first to accord respect, and with time, it will develop amongst all the conflicting parties. Avoid insulting people or how they feel about certain situations. Respect is holding something or someone in high regard. Respect has an impact on all aspects of my life, both personally and professionally. As a personal value, respect is twofold; I must respect everyone around me as well as respecting myself. I will demonstrate respect for others by treating everyone equally and without judgement. If we look for the good qualities in other people it is easier to remember the good qualities in ourselves.

Respect is an important value to be taught when growing up. Through the years I have learned that in order to learn anything you must have respect for others. I have learned many valuable lessons from listening to my grandmother. She has told me many of her experiences, which has made me a better person. Having respect for other people has allowed me to be more open-minded and see qualities in people that most would not. I have always listened to what my friends and family has to say. That doesn’t always mean that I agree with them, but it is their opinion, so I respect it. In return I receive respect from them. As people begin to respect me more their trust in me also grows.

A society without respect would be full of ignorance and selfishness. People would start to believe that showing respect for another person is a sign of weakness, when in reality it shows strong values.
