The beginning of baseball has had it twist on who started the game and who made the rules to the game. The sport we know as baseball was original name stickball before it became an organized sport. Baseball was a game that many just played as part of their moderate exercise for recreational purpose or time and they used the game to stay in shape. It was usually a middle class white -collar worker who played the game. Many give credit to Abner Doubleday and his contribution to the game as the father of baseball. But many discredit Doubleday of his work and say that he didn’t invent the game. But what most people don’t know is that Doubleday actually made the rules to the game we know as baseball. Also the ball became known as “The Doubleday Baseball” and remains in the baseball hall of fame today. The rules that Doubleday made up to the game was diamond shape field, 21 acres, one bounce out fly, runner thrown-at, o strike zone, and pitcher roles = to feed the ball, and no gloves. The first game that is recorded in the hall of fame is in September of 1845 were the rules were first used in a game with the knickerbockers, led by a bank clerk named Alexander Cartwright. The first game was played in June against a team in Hoboken, New Jersey. But there is still some controversy between the two cities as who is the birthplace of baseball. But a lot of people still don’t understand the origin of the game before the Cartwright rules in 1845, as referred to by he baseball hall of fame. The rules of baseball though still received it changes to the games as the years past including Cartwright who made the foul lines and the rule that if the ball is caught flying or on the first bound is out. And the ball was not to be thrown at a player for an out and no base running on fouls. As the years went by base has had many rules that have been added and taken away to make it a better game to suit everyone regardless of race, sex, or creed. But baseball has and will always been known as created by Abner Doubleday even thought he didn’t invent the games but he started the game to were its at today.
