Anytime someone takes a complicated emotion and simplifies it so I know it like I know the ABC’s, my heart wells with pride and admiration with an intensity that's slightly embarrassing. The album is uniquely defining for me mainly because it fits into so many aspects of life. Although it has a seemingly shallow message about her ex-boyfriend Harry Styles, I have always thought of it as slightly deeper. With lyrics like “This love is alive back from the dead” and “Take my hand and don’t ever drop it, my love” I relate it to daily life. One song describes a time when all you want to do is hide, but the next track describes something beautiful and lovely. Just like one day the storms are raging everywhere I go, but the next God has cleared the skies and created something lovely. The album taught me to not be ashamed of who I am or what I believe, so for that I owe Swift big time. Her song ‘Inside Your Heaven’ reached No. 1 and album ‘Some Hearts’ also reached No. 1 on Billboard Country Albums. Between ‘06 and ‘10 she won 10 Academy of Country Music Awards. In ‘07 she released single ‘Wasted’, she sold 1 million copies and the song received a Gold Certification from The Recording Industry Association of America. You hear someone’s voice that is soft as an angle, but still has some sass to it. If you don’t already know who it is, her name is Carrie Underwood. Underwood was born March 10th in 1963 and lived on a farm in Muchagee, Oklahoma. Underwood started singing in church, school plays, and talent shows when she was just a young child. Underwood became a star after winning the American Idol competition in 2005. The contributions to music demonstrated by the career of Carrie Underwood proves beyond doubt that the Country Music Hall of Fame should induct this artist. Underwood’s worthiness of the award is shown in her charities, achievements, and major works.

One is for her character in the music video to warn her audience about the type of love that boys want, and the other for real life Taylor herself to poke holes into the media’s concept of her love life. The video is filled with satire and paradoxes to convince us that our idea of Taylor Swift is not an accurate opinion of her.

Taylor Swift or “America’s Sweetheart”, as I call her, is one of the biggest household names in the world. Her charm, style and personality are what draw people in but her music is what keeps her fans very loyal. Majority of her songs are relatable to any age group and range from relationships to girl power. Even though her songs are inspiring and catchy they can become incredibly annoying in a short amount of time. The main reason I choose Taylor Swift is because I think deep down inside we all like to poke fun at all of her “goody two-shoes” themed songs. I figured her hit “We are never getting back together” a good pick because it’s the most relatable. Everyone has an ex that they break up to make up with until they have reached their final breaking point and then they are completely done. As explained by the title Swift is letting her ex beau know that it’s over and there is no possibility that they can ever be what they once were.

For my Taylor Swift assignment, I took very detailed notes on the music video to try and help me get a good idea of exactly what was going on. I then decided to have my main focus on the dark spots on Taylor Swifts career. I decided to focus on these because most of the music video focused in on her past and how it has changed her to be a new person. In the video, there was also reference to taboos which I explained in my writing. I was very confident on this paper and decided not to revise for that reason.
