The position of Panhellenic President at Kettering University plays an important role in sorority life by uniting the two chapters here on campus. The president should be able to maintain a neutral and supportive stance on all topics to create a productive counsel. I feel I could play this part to support Sorority Greek life based on my previous positions on campus. As a member of ASA I am currently acting as Standards chair, as part of this role I act as a mediator for concerns within the chapter and determine positive outlets to resolve those concerns. I believe these skills I have learned will aid in my ability to support the council. I have been a member of the Panhel counsel for the past two years and am very familiar with its operations.

Last semester, I was a new member of the sorority Alpha Phi, prior to its dismissal from our campus. Following the removal of Alpha Phi and the press release of an article that discussed the removal of the sorority, my fellow new members and I faced a significant amount of slander and exclusion from our classmates and other greek life members. Despite the disrespectful comments and unwelcoming environment on the campus in which I had grown to love, I found reassurance in the support of the 29 other freshman and sophomore girls in my pledge class. This group of young women united to be the rock each other needed at a time when no one knew the facts of what was occurring. For my college experience, my goal was to get involved on campus. I searched for organizations to join by looking online. I had a few organizations in mind, but I could not come to a decision. One day, my friend informed me that she was interested in recruitment for potentially joining a sorority. After she mentioned recruitment, I considered it and I decided to go through recruitment as well. Recruitment was filled with excitement and I had no patience of finding out my future home. After going through recruitment, I have found my home in Alpha Xi Delta. By joining this sorority, it has encouraged me to give back to my community such as raising awareness for autism. Alpha Xi Delta has a philanthropy which we proudly support Autism Speaks (gsu.alphaxidelta.org).

All participants were undergraduate students (X women, Mage =X years, age range: X-X) from a small, Midwestern university. Participants were all voluntarily enrolled in formal sorority recruitment. No benefit was given to potential new members for participating in the study as results were not given to chapter presidents until the completion of bid day. Since before the start of my senior year of high school, I knew that I wanted to get more involved in school clubs I would be a member of. At the start of the school year, I became a member Spanish National Honor Society and National Honor Society. My friend Hannah convinced me to join Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, a club that I had previously been strongly tied to without being an official member. The club had little membership and stood shrouded in the shadows from the rest of the school. After careful consideration, I decided to try to obtain the position of treasurer for FCCLA.

After nearly fifteen years of raising philanthropic funds in Birmingham for various nonprofit organizations, I am thrilled to be applying for the director of development position at the Raymond J. Harbert College of Business at Auburn University. I know I can make a strong impact right out of the gate in this position and I am confident that Auburn is where I want to be.

Like you, we want to grow the Panhellenic sisterhood at Binghamton and ensure continued success for the Greek-letter community. Our procedures for establishing a new Kappa chapter along with our knowledgeable support team ensure a successful start for a new chapter at Binghamton. A key component of our strategy is hiring two resident Chapter Consultants who will work with the new chapter for at least the first two years of existence. Kappa has operating funds specifically allocated to ensure success from establishment — the time when the chapter is developed and operational procedures are established — through formal Installation — when the chapter is presented with a charter and officially recognized as a full and functioning Kappa chapter. The Fraternity will provide immediate financial support to the new Kappa chapter upon announcement from Binghamton’s extension team. Establishment Process In addition to the Fraternity’s volunteer and advisory support structure, we assemble a team of volunteers and staff who will oversee the efforts to establish a new chapter at Binghamton. This team — comprised of members who have expertise in establishing new chapters and working with college women — will immediately begin working with campus partners to market Kappa’s brand to unaffiliated women. Our expert team includes the following. • Leadership Consultants are staff members and recent graduates who travel to our chapters and work closely with local
