Canada is a remarkable large diverse country with everything from big urban cities to a stable government.Cuba is the largest of the islands in the Caribbean sea, surrounded by many small islands, facing serious problems. These two countries are very different when put together along with the factors of their environments, social problems and their political issues as well. Canada and Cuba enjoy a broad and diverse relationship built on a long history of important and growing economic and commercial relations Environmental & Physical Characteristics/Issues
Both countries have many physical characteristics that are somewhat different yet alike. As well as being the the second `s largest country,Canada`s physical features contain of 7 main

This eliminated the need for an exit visa, a document giving authorization to leave a particular country, which forced the Cuban residents to have permission to leave the island, as well as the reinforcement that if one leaves the country for a long time, they may not come back. This in effect for about five decades. Their president, Raul Castro had pledged to update their migration and soon, in 2016, President Barack Obama had stopped the rule and had allowed both U.S and Cuba to go to either of their countries as they wish. Another issue Cuba faces is poverty, in where at least 7 out of 10 Cubans live in poverty, In 2006, Cuba ranked 6th out of 102 countries on the human poverty index. Due to this, rations are given to the residents of Cuba because food has continued to be in short supply for the island, in which the rations allow each citizen to have a ration book, which allows them to buy only a certain amount of food supplies each week.Even with recent work to produce more food, there are just not enough farmlands available. The same is with it`s human rights,in where the Cuban government refuses to recognise human rights and denies legal status to human any human rights group. Government authorities also harass, assault and imprison human rights defenders who attempt to document abuses. Canada, on the other hand, Canada's aboriginals are treated very unfairly as they do not experience the rights that other Canadians receive. They experience poorer health due to unhealthy water and inadequate housing and crowding living spaces. Many Aboriginals live in poverty, same as Cubans, which will result in the country losing some money for the economy trying to help these
Canada and the US share many physical features such as natural resources, lakes and mountains, but the most noticeable of these would be the climate. Canada, unlike the US which contains a humid subtropical climate, has a subarctic or colder climate due to their location farther from the equator and closer to the poles.
The civic issue that I’ve chosen for this assignment is the increased pollution in Canada.
To begin, it is important to know about the history of Cuba to fully comprehend how things came to be as they are today. Since the Conquest and Colonization Era (1492-1898), many of the prominent European countries and the powerful neighbor to the north of Cuba, the United States of America, have attempted to take control of the land. It first began with the Spanish conquistadors, specifically Diego Velázquez, who was the first to explore and settle the land. Up until the end of the 19th century, the Spanish monarch was the authoritative figure overseeing the land and
Canada and the United States of America are two neighboring countries who besides the border share numerous other key aspects. Though similar in beliefs and culture the two countries are far from alike. Their legal structure particularly the penal system is one of most significant boundaries between Canada and the United States. Though not perfect, it's absolutely clear that Canada has the far more superior legal system.
The Federal government is responsible for insuring equal distribution and accessibility of health care services to citizens though they are not the only party that shape the policies of Canada’s healthcare but also the influence of doctors, health professionals, political parties, and businesses are also used (Canadian Stakeholders, n.d., para 2). The 1984 Canada Health Act outlines the requirements that provincial governments must meet. However; since there is not a descriptive list mentioning insurance services in the Act, the insured services in provinces vary creating a power shift (The Canada Health Act, 2005). Provinces also control the licensing of hospitals as well as doctors,
Cultural issues are complicated ones to solve. Sometimes it is even tough to express opinions about them. It is an area where one has had to establish one's bona fides before weighing in. The audience has to be assured that the commentator loves Canada more or at least as much as the next person and is willing to stop at nothing to protect our culture. Trade consultants wanting to mine the cultural field are well advised to have a Can-lit or artistic icon as an immediate family member. Otherwise, they need not even bother hanging up a shingle.
In the spectrum of OECD (Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development) countries, Canada has higher poverty rates and inequality of incomes than most. From 1994 until 2008 Canada has shown steady economic growth, yet the increase in wellbeing of Canadians was not strong enough in comparison. 1 After the 2008 recession, the gap between the Canadians at the top and the ones at the bottom of the pay scale continue to grow, resulting in the decreased wellbeing of those on both extremes of the socioeconomic ladder, often seen in unbalanced societies. With the living wage in Toronto being about $18.52 an hour between two working parents with two children in 20152 about 3.3 million workers earning less than $20,000 in Ontario as
The labeling of individuals and groups as ‘different’ is part of the process of creating social hierarchies, which represents the foundation of oppression (de Leeuw, Kobayashi, & Cameron, 2011). This story brings to light the denial of systematic racism of the indigenous people in Canada. It was established that although Canada prides itself in the great variety of culture and ethnicity and religion. However, despite such practices, racism is still a significant issue. Oppression is a contemporary issue for indigenous people because Canadians are still ignorant about aboriginal history. There is a misconception that aboriginals are either living in an idyllic utopian society or in a primitive world. “underprivileged” and “disadvantage”, lazy,
How current norms are affecting Canadian marriage. You should consider norms such as courtship, intimacy, monogamy, age at the time of marriage, role of each partner. Statistics Canada (2011), states that in 2008, the common age for men to marry was 31.1 years, and for women 29.1 years. This was older than in the former decades, including the 1930s and 1940s when the standard age at first marriage spiked at approximately 28 years for men, and 25 years for women. In the 1960s and beginning of the 1970s, the age at first marriage dropped to just over 22 years for women and 25 years for men.
Societal Change contributes to an ever changing society in Canada. Two distinct adaptations that contribute to this developing society include Immigration and Equality. Immigration was almost non-existent in 1939, with Canada being a largely white settler dominion. As the years progressed, Immigration began to increase until Canada moved to become a multicultural, multiracial society at its current stage in 2017. By 2039, I would expect Canada to be even more multicultural, taking into account the Syrian Refugee crisis, many more refugees will be coming to Canada, thus influencing this idea of more racially diverse community. Equality between sexes was also something that contributed to this changing society in Canada. Women moved from being
In the wake of recent events myself and the Canadian Government would like to release a statement on the current state of our country’s race relations. Last month with the recent riots in Baltimore that took place on the 28th of april following Freddie Gray 's funeral. Freddie Gray was a member of a sadly impoverished community of African-Americans in Baltimore who like many others in such a situation had trouble with the police. These riots were preceded by peaceful protests that shed light on the current state of America’s police system but sadly they were overshadowed by riots and violence.
In this paper, it will be arguing how Canada hasn’t begun to fix the poverty situation that many Canadians deal with in a daily bases. Structural Functionalism Theory, Conflict Theory and the Feminist Perspective are going to be used in for this argument in this paper. This will give reader a better understanding and depth of the country’s Poverty issues that are currently taken place. It describes a brief history of poverty to today’s current issues in our communities, and what are some of the solutions we could do to fix poverty in Canada. This issue of poverty is very important to the writer, as she went through it with her family many years ago.
There are always many differences and similarities between two countries, even they are in close geographical area. Both United States and Canada are on the America continental, therefore the United States and Canada are in close geographical location and in the neighborhoods, most people think that culturally they are same .But this is not true. Despite all similarities between these two countries, there are many differences between them.
Canada is regarded as one of the wealthiest industrialized countries in the world. This indication is contrary to the well-being reality affecting Canadians. Despite being part of the Organization for Economic Co-operation Development (OECD), Canada has lagged behind her otherwise wealthy counterparts in the industrialized countries being position 19 out of 22 nations (Breznitz and Zysman, 2013). This has been attributed to the precarious levels of poverty in a majority of Canadian households. The country has not recognized any official poverty measurement although other universal measures such as LICO is used for measuring relative poverty, a more determinable measure of poverty for wealthy countries.
Globally, the world is made of continent which in turn on countries. Physically, the countries are separated by boundary, climate, language, social make-up, economic make-up, and political make-up, and social problems and the ways of addressing problem. Country are classified under three major; Developed, Developing, and Under developing country. This categorizing is basically of the country is ways of addressing Amenities. The point in question is social problems and how it is address. On the paper, I want focus on Britain, Canada, and compare contrast these two countries with United States of America, how each social problem is handle and address in the
