School is an important part of every person’s life, in most cases it can shape the path of a person’s life. The purpose of school is to develop and prepare students to live dynamic lives in the world. School should prepare students to make great contributions to the world. School does this by developing in two ways: cognitively and socially. Schools develop students cognitively by promoting growth of skills such as: perception, attention, memory, motor skills, language, visual & spatial processing, problem solving, and etc. Basically these skills are responsible for the way we learn. These skills are really important because they help us carry out the most complex or basic tasks. School is also important because it develops students …show more content…
Also I believe students learn best when learning is student-centered and inquiry-based (Wiggins &McTighe,2011). Student-centered and inquiry-based learning shifts the way students learn. The learning styles now allow students to find and apply information themselves, instead of students listening and receiving information from teachers. Students become more involved and more interested in their learning (Wiggins &McTighe,2011). Being able to use these different teaching styles is very important in mathematics. Mathematics is the study of number, shapes, and change. As mathematics developed over time, more discoveries were made to explain the natural occurrences being discovered. Mathematics attempts to explain the natural phenomenon throughout the world to better understand the world we live in. Because mathematics attempts to understand and explain the world, it is important to learn. Mathematics should be taught because it trains and develops problem solving, logic, and reasoning skills. Effective mathematics teaching nurtures these three cognitive skills through learning and understanding mathematics. Problem solving is important to thrive in the workforce. Most if not all jobs are created to solve problems or needs we have in the world. To solve these problems, individuals need to be trained to problem solve. Also math trains and develops logic and reasoning skills. Not
Schools are the places where the children shape their personalities and behavior.A School is also a special place where small kids and even teenagers meet people from all different situations, backgrounds and all walks of life.A school is a place where kids get to determine their future and what they want to do in life.Kids will be thrown into a mix of people they don't know and have to work together. This is good for them because it sets them up for the future when they have to deal with people from the real world.
Every year, thousands of people move to the United States from all over the world to play sports. According to the district they threatened to flunk sports down because they were rolling to cause financial problems and it would cut the cost of equipment. Therefore, schools should not have sports because they can cause district's financial problems, academic failures and students will not have the proper rooms to teach.
Should kids have school all year? I don't think so but some school systems do, some think that and some think the total opposite . One of the schooling systems is called a 45-15 and that means a child would go to school for 45 days and then have 15 days of break, and that goes on for the whole year.
School is a place that a very young age you 're made to attend on a daily basis to get good grades and learn new subject matter to have a bright future and a fulfilling lifestyle. School is also a place where you are taught to believe that it is a safe place to be around in and that the staff and security (if there is any) are there to protect you and make you feel comfortable enough to approach them if any issue arises from within yourself or another
There are two types of school in this world and that is the schools that are between individuality and conformity. There are a lot of issues that school focus on that aren’t really necessary. Some schools focus on points likes dress code or testing or discipline. There are other schools that are more carefree and don’t really focus on forring thing except timing. School sometimes may even be thought as unimportant because the policies are so strict.
School is considered to be one of the most essential pieces in one’s life in order to flourish in the world. Schooling is the basis for one to find a job in which they can excel later in life. Without school, many are left scrambling to find a high enough paying job in order to make ends meet. The amount of schooling a person has acquired sets the bar for what kind of life they are eager to make for himself or herself. The people who want to succeed highly in life spend over a decade of their life going to school in order to earn diplomas and degrees. The degrees that one gains helps to set up their entire future. While considering these thoughts, imagine being able to sleep in and not have to worry about getting up at the crack of dawn in
You know that one kid you always had in class that asked the math teacher “Why are we learning this”? And the teacher's response was you will use math everyday in life. Math like other subjects are taught to prepare students for the future, and is considered crucial and important to our childrens learning.
Students aren't the only ones who stress out about sports but also the school district. The school district has to pay for all of the sports equipment and not just for one school but for all of the district's schools. ‘’In many schools , sports are so entrenched that no one realizes their actual cost’’ (2). The school has to pay for new bleachers which is half a million dollars and they also pay for the care of the field which also cost a very large amount of money. It stands to reason that schools should use their money for learning and not for sports and use it for more helpful things. Students might not think about the cost it takes but they still spend a lot of money to get the sports prepared.
School, the place where most kids spend their youths to learn. Schools today are not teaching the life skills necessary for students to use when they become an adult. Academic skills are important; however, life skills are absolutely necessary. Life skills can range from knowing how to correctly write a check to something as simple as communication. After graduating high school it is a big leap to join a environment without school. At this point whatever you learned in history about the presidents will have no significant value at all. Life skills are what really matters after high school; how to manage your time, what is interest on buying a car or house, is it worth taking out loans for education, and insurance policies are just a few key essential skills.. These life skills needs to be taught, and taught at school because it is the most efficient place to learn. This genre of a class can also pique the students interests on learning. High school needs to have a life skills class as a graduation requirement for students. This will solve all the addressed issues that will be coming their way in the future. By tweaking the school curriculum it can solve life problems that will drag the students down in the future.
Are you a Junior or Senior high school student getting tired of not being able to get a job because school is too time consuming. There are many reasons why students should get paid to go to school. I believe that students should get paid your last two years of high school so the student can start saving up for college or be able to pay for there car. Also getting payed to go to school with help the students learn a sense of responsibility.
According to Wolff (2012), it helps the child to be successful in his/her life existence by preparing him not just academically, but also socially. Some, believe that crucial skills children need to be successful in school include saying the ABCs, naming colors, identifying shapes, writing their names, doing arts & crafts and counting numbers just like 1, 2, 3…but school is not simply about getting straight s or performing good in class, it is also about learning how to get on with others and knowing how to develop friendships. A child who is happy in school is a child who can focus more on studying and doing well. He/she wants to be there and be a part of things and getting excited to go to school because he/she found new fiends and playmates
In today’s society mathematics is a vital part of day-to-day life. No matter what a person is doing at home or at the workplace, he/she is constantly using different mathematics skills to simply function. Then what does this mean for mathematics education? When someone needs to utilize a skill every day then he/she needs a strong background in the skill. Therefore, today’s students need more than a just a working knowledge of mathematics or enough knowledge to pass a test. Today’s students need to understand how mathematics works and how to utilize mathematics skills in the best way possible.
Mathematics, like every creation of man, have evolved without really knowing how far you can get with them: the scope of the computer, physics, chemistry, algebra, all are evidence of this. Every aspect of our culture is based in some way or another in Mathematics: language, music, dance, art, sculpture, architecture, biology, daily life. All these areas of measurements and calculations are accurate. Even in nature, everything follows a precise pattern and a precise order: a flower, a shell, a butterfly, day and night, the seasons. All this makes mathematics essential for human life and they can not be limited only to a matter within the school curriculum; here lies the importance of teaching math in a pleasure, enjoyable and understandable way. Mathematics is an aid to the development of the child and should be seen as an aid to life and not as an obstacle in their lifes.
The purpose of school is to teach us how to make it in the real world. We are supposed to learn how to function and essentially grow up. We learn to write our names and to read. We learn to stand in straight lines and raise our hand if we have something to say. We learn that one plus one equals two and we memorize the multiplication table. We learn that cells make up all living things and what photosynthesis is. We learn state capitals and even state birds. We learn about wars and battles of our world’s past. We learn to write in complete sentences and that a haiku is a poem written in five, seven, five syllable count. To be honest I don’t remember most of what I was taught in school. I can’t recite the Gettysburg address or all the names of our presidents. I don’t remember how to find the area of a square or the angels of a triangle. What I do remember are the lessons I learned without realizing I was being taught. I learned that life is full of embarrassing moments, peer pressure can affect anyone and our relationships with other people influence who we are.
It is important to teach or at least try to teach students problem solving related to math. Problem solving plays a big part in the math process. Teaching problem solving is beneficial to students because helps the students find solutions when struggling. It helps math to be more interesting and less stressful. Students see math with less negative reaction and more hope. Problem solving helps and improves student’s ability to think, solve, and find solutions. It is important for students to have the ability to have problem solving skills and this is what it teaches the students. Ultimately, problem solving helps students focus increase and learn what works best for them.
