The majority of human beings in today’s society feel as if it is right and just that everyone should be compensated fairly for the work they put in. Sadly, those behind the scenes of NCAA Division 1 athletes do not feel the same. College athletics is well over a billion dollar industry, but it is clear that the hard workers behind all of these big bucks are not seeing enough of the profits. Sure, it may be argued that college athletes are compensated for their athletic achievements and hard work by having their tuition and school feels covered, but is that truly a fair trade? It should be mandatory that the NCAA takes the time to sit down with each university to look at annual revenue each sport creates, through these congregations they should come up with a fair salary for college athletes. Not any type of salary that would allow collegiate athletes living a lavish lifestyle, but definitely a salary that takes them completely out of the hands of a struggle lifestyle. These meetings and the salary that the NCAA and each university comes up for their hard working student athletes will solve an injustice. It is absolutely unheard of that in any organization in the United States where the most important people behind everything only make 13% percent of the total revenue.That is the case for NCAA Division 1 athletes. Many argue that college athletes are awarded and pretty much paid through the full scholarships the NCAA provides. In all sports the NCAA provides $1.4 billion dollars in scholarships a year. 1.4 billion dollars is a staggering amount of money, but in this industry it makes up only just around 13% of the total revenue of the NCAA a year.
