After months and months of preparing for the big race, the day has finally come. It was a perfect summer day, when Ronald Raptor and his friends Tiffany, Travis, and Barbra strolled up to the Blaze’n Race’n Track. Someone else was walking up too, a ginormous, mean, green, dinosaur named Tyrone the T-rex. Just a glance in his direction makes the hairs on the back of your neck spike up, but he was jealous of Ronald. To sum it up, Ronald wins at life, he has friends , he’s cool, and he beats Tyrone every year. “But, this year would be different” Tyrone thought with a evil smirk on his face, “I have a plan”. Interrupting Tyrone’s mastermind plot was Ronald’s laugh, making him remember how lonely he was, but nevermind that. It was time to start. …show more content…
“3, 2, 1 Go!” and they were off, in a matter of seconds the racers were around the bend. Before the race started, everyone knew it was a two man match, but it was still magnificent. They swerved in and out, and the lead changed at least once every second. Tyrone shouted “I’m going to beat you today!” with the same little smirk as before. “Nope” was the only thing Tyrone heard before Ronald left him in the dust. Ronald rounded the second curve about 100 meters ahead of Tyrone, he never saw it coming. Both of Ronald’s back tires blew out. 100 meters, was a sizeable lead, but stopped, racers passed him one by one, and before he knew it Ronald was in last place. “Is this how it will end?” Ronald sadly asked to himself.(24)“No” Said his friends who just arrived, “We won’t let a cheater win!”. With a newfound boost of confidence, they fixed the car and Ronald was back on his way. Driving faster than ever with his fixed car, Ronald started passing multiple people. Now back in the race, Ronald needed a way to beat Tyrone. “Aha!” He accidentally said aloud, he would take the shortcut. Quickly, Ronald jerked the steering wheel onto the short
They comprise a competitive gender that feels the need to outdo each other. During the race, he muses: “This is ridiculous. These are middle aged guys, supposedly adults and they’re out there bragging about their performance in this juvenile footrace. Finally I couldn’t stand it anymore” (918) . In the end, Barry falls for a pointless challenge, trying to prove to his fellow co-workers how pointless worrying about how fast they can run a forty yard dash is compared to real world achievements. Barry ends up getting hurt and is reminded by his coworker’s comment, “Just remember, you didn’t beat my time,”, that no matter the challenge or how hard you tried, guys will continue to feel the need to challenge the ending
After the race, Dave is convinced to enter the cycling race against the college students by his friends. Yet, his friend Mike is hesitant about the competition commenting that maybe the university students are better. However, this comment is made because Mike became timid after he had challenged the college student to a race swimming in the quarry and lost because he had hit his head on a rock. During the race at the university, Dave becomes hurt. This scene shows how Dave and his friends try to overcome the stereotypes about
Brenda begins to time Neil as he runs around the track. “We were the only ones there, and it reminded me of one of those scenes in race-horse movies, where an old trainer like Walter Brennan and a young handsome man clock the beautiful girl’s horse in the early Kentucky morning, to see if it really is the fastest two-year-old alive” (72). The use of “race” in this passage is significantly different from other uses throughout the book; Neil is comparing his relationship with Brenda to that of one between race-horse and trainer. Not only does this comparison evoke the motif of competition so frequently found in the text, but Neil likens himself to an animal. Neil sees his part in their relationship as that of a lesser being. Brenda is getting Neil into shape, both physically and to ready him to be almost further inducted into the Patimkin family. Their relationship here is not romantic; Neil is akin to an object or a subordinate entity. He runs in competition with himself, to improve himself for Brenda. This example of racing put forth by the text is consistent with the etymological roots of the word, as Neil rashly enters into a new world of competition in order to keep up with the
In the novel The Perfect Mile, three men each set out on their own journey of breaking 4 minutes in the mile. A quote that captures the theme of the novel is “ Further, the four-minute mile had to be won alone. There could be no teammates to blame, no coach during halftime to inspire a comeback. One might hide behind the excuses of cold weather, an unkind wind, a slow track or jostling competition but ultimately these obstacles had to be defied. Winning a foot race, particularly one waged against the clock, was ultimately a battle with oneself, over oneself. The three men, John Landy,Roger Bannister and Wes Santee put it to the test and overcame mental and physical challenges, defeated criticism and were determined to break the barrier.
‘He started to roll down the hill swerving a tree, and almost being stung by a big fat bee, nearly at the lake he had to swerve a car’.
Knees weak from climbing a flight of stairs or the anticipation of meeting Brian, I walked into his office announcing my presence with a raspy, delayed voice. Upon flinging open the door, his face lifted of his desk and stared at me with a distant expression. My first take of Brian caught me off guard, with his apple red mohawk, wearing his branded castle racing jacket and pants. Looking at his appearance you just knew he was into racing. After building up the confidence to murmur good morning we left his office to his own personal race track he made at his house. “There is more to just sitting down on a vehicle and holding down the throttle. If it was that easy everyone would do it.” For Brian racing has come at a cost and has been through adversity on and off the track.
Finally,it was time for the big race. The sun was very bright that day.Raymond was very confident he will win the race.He didn’t think the other racers were good enough to beat him.He thought even if he drives carelessly and slowly he will still win the race.Raymond was not a sturdy man and he could not withstand being under pressure. All

People were chanting Mars Bar and Maniac’s name. Why are people chanting their names you ask? Maniac and Mars Bar were racing again and Mars Bar promised himself that he wouldn't stop running until he beat Maniac at least once. All of a sudden, a black car with translucent windows pulled up in front of the alley. A tall man in a suit and tie stepped out of the car with a briefcase in his right hand. In the other hand he held his phone which he seemed to just have gotten off of. He heard the shouting, applauds, and name chanting. The man’s name was Mr.OzWerth. He saw how fast Maniac was and how he beat Mars Bar by 100 yards. A few minutes after Mars Bar reached the finish line, finally, Mr. OzWerth introduced himself. Maniac had introduced himself and after a long conversation of racing, Mr. OzWerth asked Maniac if he would like to star in the Junior Olympics. Maniac Wasn't sure yet so Mr. OzWerth just gave Maniac one of his business cards and left. Maniac rushed home and told the Beales all about this huge offer. He told them about how much money he would get if he won and how much fun he would have. Maniac was too excited and Mr. and Mrs. Beale couldn't turn him down. Plus, Mr. and Mrs. Beale could use some of the money to pay for the overdue taxes and bills. Maniac pulled out the business card Mr. OzWerth gave him and with one quick call, Mr. OzWerth had Maniac packing and to the airport by 2:00. They had just finished racing in the practice race and Neil left earlier than the others. As he was travelling on the highway, he noticed an old woman stopped with some car troubles. He stopped his bike and went to help her when suddenly a truck came and rear-ended her car and took Neil with it. He died on his way to the hospital due to internal injuries. So at age 5 his father bought a cheap “Go-Kart” for him to start out with. And you have to have a track to drive on of-cores. So, he and his dad hired someone to build a little ¼ mile track so that he could race his “Go-Kart” on it. And then Denny says,
Braaaaaap! Braaaaaaap! Ricky Charmichael takes the lead! He made the pass in the air over the 80 foot triple. Something that I love to do more than anything in the world is motocross. Motocross is racing over rough ground on specially strengthened motorcycles.
