The Vedic Age and the Xia, Shang, and Zhou dynasties set the ground work for some of the prevailing spiritual principals of their societies. On the surface, these beliefs appear to be different, but a closer look may uncover some similar experiences and commonalities.
In the beginning of the Vedic Age, Aryan gods were recognized, revered, and feared. Ritual animal sacrifices were performed by priests with the hope of pleasing the gods and in turn being rewarded. Conversely, the Xia, Shang, and Zhou dynasties did not rely on organized religion, supreme deities, or priests. The people learned their faith through myths and legends as opposed to organized religious tradition.

They were soon able to create a system of canals and spillways that helped

Ancient Chinese civilization can be marked back to the Xia and Shang dynasties. Existing before were agricultural communities; people fished, raised livestock, hunted, and gathered. They grew millet (malted into beer) where water and field were available. They knitted, spun threads into cloth, created things, art. They lived in pit homes, forming villages.
