Scary Halloween Research Paper

It was around 7:00 when I began prepping for my annual Halloween party. It was just like the parties in the movies you watched as a child. It had loud music, dancing, and too many costumes to count. Everyone left by 10:30 to make their curfew, but a few of my friends stayed to help clean up. When we finished cleaning, we decided to take on the challenge of finding the scariest place. Anna, Alli, Gracie, and I set off to find the scariest place.

We all went trick-or-treating for 1 hour, although I did see something that sorta freaked me out, a man with a scythe who seemed to lurk near us. We were headed back to the gas station to get some eggs, to perform the ritual of egging a house on Halloween. On Saturday, October 29, Corvallis DIY presents its first annual Halloween cover show, where five local bands pay tribute to their high school favorites. This free, all-ages event begins at 6:00 PM and will take place at Interzone, a coffee shop located at 1563 NW Monroe Ave. Costumes are highly encouraged and there will be a photo booth to add to the evening’s festivities.

Halloween is just around the corner and many kids are excited. Humans across the United States are preparing for the holiday by buying many things. People are buying costumes for trick or treating, lawn ornaments to put in their yard, and candies such as skittles and m&ms to hand out to kids. Some of the most popular lawn ornaments this year are tombstones, skeletons, and like almost every other year your classic Jack O'Lantern. There are also many new costume ideas this year including super hero and pokemon outfits. Except with the new clown sightings, many parents are worried for their children's safety, causing them to limit their children’s time out on the streets. Also some are choosing not to let their kids go at all.

The opening titles of the film are in black and orange, and they are stereotypically spooky colors. Along with these, there is a pumpkin which has suggestions of being spooky and evil as well as being a key symbol of Halloween which is linked too the film this pumpkin then slowly zooms in to fill the shot. Tense, creepy music plays in the background during the titles, this is a typical convention of Horror films. During the rest of the opening, no other sounds are used, besides footsteps and screams. This builds up uncertainty, and the silence of the scene makes the audience feel the suspension.

In honor of Halloween, MTV Productions decided to release Scream: The Halloween Special. This is a television special of the hit horror-drama series Scream. The Halloween Special takes place a year after the previous events from season two. In the Halloween Special, the mastermind behind all of the Lakewood murders, Keiran, was sentenced to life in prison.
