It is generally agreed upon that the Revolution was guaranteed- even foretold- since the idea of settling on it was even suggested- no one can give a large group of people the idea to run themselves and still keep control from thousands of miles away. England had it, but lost that control of their child nation in 1766 when they revoked the Stamp Act and gave the colonists the notion that they had the power and authority to independently run the budding country. After being allowed this minute freedom, the colonists were not pleased with Parliament 's taxes and attempts of an iron fist hold on the Americas- and along with their opposing views on nearly everything, decided that they were no longer pleased with being considered British. Salutary neglect also contributed to the colonists ' inflated sense of pride- aptly named because at this time England 'neglected ' the colonies, giving them room for individual theories, politics, beliefs, and the abilities to run their own lives for a while. The freedom was too much for them to go back to how things were before when England decided to tighten their grip. At this time, the colonists started a war to free themselves.

The American Revolution taking place first in 1765, was mainly because there was a want for a free and open government. After the battles of Lexington and Concord they colonies were debating whether fighting for independence or reconciliation was the best way to protect their liberties as colonies. If and when people decided that independence was the best option, they were still hesitant about openly seeking this freedom. Though Congress was sending out declarations that the colonies were loyal to King George, they were also preparing for war with the British, which was much of a contradiction. The two sides eyed each other and waited for the first move. No one is sure who made the first move, all we know is that a shot rang out and the fighting started. This first shot is called the “shot heard round the world”.The militia or residential army alongside the minutemen who claimed to able to be ready to fight within a minute were no match for the British troops. The Americans were defeated and the British moved on to concord to seize the gunpowder. The British troops were met by more minutemen and more of the militia. This time the battle was much harder for the British and eventually they had to retreat. The British retreated toward Boston and were again sucked into combat with the colonial minutemen and militia. The colonists killed over 125 people including British officers. These fights where the British had killed Americans were taken and made into propaganda to increase the tension between the two

Proclamation of 1763 was ordered on October 9,1763 by King George III, which was after Britain obtained French territory in America. The job was to create a newly gained territory in America and get a better relationship between the natives and the Europeans. They achieve this goal by regulating trade, settlement and buying land on the western frontier. The colonist thought that if they had fought a war to defend the land makes it theirs. The British wanted the colonist to maintain control of the land. The colonist used to move west of the proclamation line as a form of rebellions that foreshadowed the American Revolution.

In 1775 there was much friction between the American colonist and the British Crown. Britain was becoming increasingly jealous of the American prosperity and feared the growth of the colonies. Britain began to increase taxes and regulations on the colonists, which they resented. This lead to several confrontations including the Boston Massacre and the Tea Party. The British thought that they could represent the colonist from across the ocean, but the colonists felts this as unfair. Furthermore, colonists did not want to be controlled by a group of elite kings, and nobleman, but want everyman to have a chance to count. The Stamp Act was repealed in 1766, but the Townshend Act quickly followed in 1967 once again alienating the colonist and restarting the boycotts of British products (Schultz, 2010). The Boston Tea Party is what really set the wheels in motion for the colonist to start the Revolutionary War (Carp, 2012). With the British boosting troops in big city like New York, and Boston the colonist started stockpiles of weapons in nearby towns.

There are many different views on how the American Revolution came to be and how it actually was. One way is that the colonists that had money and were known as the elite were trying to preserve their power from the British and this is what caused the revolutionary war. Then on the other hand before the revolutionary war occurred when the colonists were being over controlled by the British, then in result of the American Revolution the colonists were able to win against the British and become stronger, more united, and have the type government they wanted. As described in Gordon S. Wood’s essay Radical Possibilities of the American Revolution, the colonists only wanted to be free from the control of the British and the only way they could accomplish that was to have a war with Britain to show that they could hold their own.

The American Revolution was caused by many built up issues between the British and their colonists in America. Two of the main issues were that the colonists wanted independence from Britain and when the British kept taxing the colonists without consent from them, they got even more fed up.

Britain was a dominant power in the early 17th century and colonized America in 1607. Unlike the majority of the colonies the British governed, America was given salutary neglect due to the arduous journey between America and Britain. Salutary neglect is the process of self governing, within colonies, away from the command of the motherland. The Americans cherished the neglect by the British as they established their own law and taxation system. However, this neglect soon ended when the colonists along with the British went to war against the French and Native Americans.

From the start the colonies were never paid much attention by Great Britain. Great Britain had a policy of salutary neglect. This means that Great Britain would stay hands off of most colonial affairs as long as the colonies paid and obeyed trade and tax laws. Great Britain believed as long as they minded their own business the colonies would stay in line. If not for this neglect many of the core principles the U.S. was founded on would not have been created. One of these is the legislative assembly in which every man is in some way represented and that assembly sets and follows its own laws. The American Revolution was evolutionary. It didn’t just start from one event, it progressed to a point where change was needed. During the French and Indian War England claimed they were protecting the colonists but they were only using them for profit and for people to fight the war for them. Beforehand there were many acts that were proposed which made the colonies generally upset. These acts not only banned the colonists from trading with other countries but it also affected their economy drastically. During the period before seventeen fifty, salutary neglect influenced the development of American society. Salutary neglect refers to the unofficial and long term British policy of avoiding strict enforcement of parliamentary laws meant to keep the American colonies obedient to England during the seventeenth and eighteenth century. While this was happening, American society changed and developed in many different ways. This was due to things like, being able to trade freely, having a localized government to solve disputes, and the opportunity to have religious freedom.

The American Revolution marks a significant event in American history in which the thirteen colonies fought for their independence against their mother country. Britain and the colonies fought together during the French and Indian War. Victory over the French was the reason that Colonists took great pleasure in being partners with the British. However, problems appeared when the war ended. A sequence of laws and taxes were forced upon the Colonists which triggered them to perform many rebellious acts against the British. The American Colonists were justified in waging war and breaking away from Britain because the British rejected peaceful negotiations, imposed unfair taxes, and mislead the Colonists into a false perception of security.
