Responsible For The Tragedy In Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet

Romeo and Juliet were two young people from feuding families, who fell in love. Their love was so strong, that they ended up dying for each other. The ironic twist at the end of the story surprised many who had read it. But who is to blame for this tragedy? Many characters in this play could be to blame. We believe that some of the characters to blame are Capulet, Friar Lawrence, plus Romeo and Juliet themselves.

As the old saying goes, young love is blind. Romeo and Juliet is a play written by William Shakespeare, two star-crossed lovers defying their families’ ancient grudge to be with each other, even if that means in death. The question is who is to blame? Romeo, even in death should be held responsible. If it weren’t for his series of misguided actions the outcome would have been very different. The situations he created for himself showed his fickle nature, impulsive behavior and impatient demeanor towards everything that occurred.

Everyone has their different opinions on who is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet is about two people that fall in love from two different families who are in a feud with each other. Lord Capulet is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because when Romeo was at the Capulet part he didn’t let Tybalt do anything to make Romeo leave. Reason two is he is the one that planned for Juliet to get married to Paris without her consent. The third reason is because after Juliet says okay to marrying Paris (going along with the Friar’s plan), Lord Capulet tries moving the wedding day up to Wednesday instead of Thursday.

There are three characters in the story of Romeo and Juliet that take some and most of the blame on the death of the two Romeo and Juliet. Two of the characters take some of the blame while the third character takes all of the blame. The two characters that take some of the blame are Lady Capulet And Lord Capulet. Lady Capulet is married to Lord Capulet and have a daughter named Juliet. The third person that takes most of the blame for their death is not a person at all. It is fate. Romeo, Benvolio, and the Capulet and Montague ancestors are to blame. Romeo is to blame because he acts rashly and does not think things through. Benvolio is at fault because he encourages Romeo to go to a Capulet party where he meets the love of his life. They forced an arranged marriage on her without her consent because they believed that someone who is royal and noble is perfect for anybody. On the other hand, the person that is the most responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s death is Friar Laurence, since he is a person who needs to plan stuff out more carefully, and who mostly cares for himself.

Romeo is to blame for the death of Juliet and himself because his intentions in the beginning of the story were of lust and not love. Romeo states, “Oh, she doth teach the torches to burn bright! It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night like a rich jewel in an Ethiop's ear, beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear. So shows a snowy dove trooping with crows as yonder lady o'er her fellows shows. The measure done, I’ll watch her place of stand, and, touching hers, make blessèd my rude hand.

Romeo, Capulet, and Tybalt are the most responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s death. Romeo is responsible for their deaths because Romeo reacts too early and makes rash decisions. Romeo’s immaturity blinds his decisions and lead to Juliet and his death. Romeo loving one girl to another real quick and choosing to kill himself without a plan. Capulet is responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s death because he was rushing Juliet’s marriage with Paris.

In this play Romeo and Juliet are mostly responsible for their own death, Juliet is mostly responsible for Romeos death because when she pretended to be dead so that her family wouldn’t force her to marry Paris she did not till Romeo that she is not really dead and that she is just pretending to be dead because of her family. When Romeo heard the news about Juliet’s death he decided to take his life and Romeo killed himself only because Juliet forgot to tell him about her fake death act. “ well, Juliet, I will lie with thee tonight”(5,1,36) Romeo thought that Juliet is really dead so he bought a bottle of poison and drank it so he could be with Juliet.

The parents wanted to disown Juliet when she came to them honestly about how she felt about Paris and that she did not want to marry Paris. For example 3:5:165-172 explains how the parents were disappointed, despised, angry towards her. The Capulet's were also unsupportive, selfish, and uncaring about her feelings and desires. Juliet is Lord Capulet last child and he neglects her, then forces her into a unwanted marriage. If he did not for her Juliet would not have to find a way out of marriage and she would not be found dead. Lady Capulet stops caring about what her daughter wants by this she chose to ignore her daughter wishes too. Her uncaring ways led Juliet depression. The Capulet's are to be blamed for Juliet death and others

No one ever truly does wrong unless they are wronged by others. It can happen in any way shape or form. The most usual cases are if you’ve been bullied or abused. It could also be a corruption of the mind at a young age. Or maybe there was never anyone there to explain to you what was right and wrong. In Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare shows that these three people are responsible for the deaths of the titular characters: Tybalt, Friar Laurence, and Romeo himself.
