Respecting Veterans Essay

Our nation past was, well, not always perfect. Without some of our veterans, our country wouldn’t be as free as it is. Veterans continue to make our country a free country, which also makes it a better place to live in. Veterans stood up for our country; whether the ones forced to go during the draft, or the ones who voluntarily go. Whether the cause, they were always ready to go and fight for the people’s freedom. INTRODUCTION: How many people have a Veteran in their family or know one? If yes do you help them or is it someone else’s problem. Well many people think it’s someone else problem, but the truth is it’s our problem.

In today's society where opinion matters, people have been extremely vocal about the lack of support the government has provided to our veterans. Many feel as if the government should do more, while others feel as if they are doing enough. Everyone will have a difference of opinion no matter if they have severed in the military or not. No matter how one may feel, is extremely important to take care of our veterans. As they have sacrificed their lives, time, and family to protect our country. Contrary to one's belief, the government provides a substantial amount of programs, which support the veterans. Honestly more could be done. On any given day you could see women and men standing on the corner holding signs implying they are homeless veterans and will work for food. A few programs the government offers our veterans are funding for mental health services, The Wounded Warrior Project and Vocational Rehabilitation and Education, which will be discussed throughout this essay. When you research the programs, they make it sound as if all proceeds are going towards the best treatment and care money could buy.

The American veterans did a lot for us. If it wasn’t for them we wouldn't be able to do the things we want to do. So appreciate those who serve for us. Think of this as a gift. If you open a gift you are happy. Just like when the Veterans serve for us we are happy. Also when you open the gift you are thankful. Just like when you found out the Veterans served for us you were thankful.

The reason why I appreciate America’s Veterans, is because they do everything for our country. We all should appreciate every single American Veteran. They risk their lives for us mostly every single day.

Veterans have risked their lives throughout the history of the United States to keep its people safe and free from all harm. All military personnel should be taken for granted and treat with respect even if the soldier is active or a veteran. Today veterans are left homeless on the streets and have difficulties with life after serving in the military. America offers veterans some benefits but it can be difficult to acquire them. I think that the United States can take better care of their veterans by making it easier to get health care, help veterans get jobs easier after the service, and improve the GI bill.

Americans citizens can help their military and appreciate them more. therefore these people die for our country and risk their lives to protect us so we should just be there for them. I believe we can make change and set up more homes for the homeless veterans and be more supportive to veterans with PTSD.

We can keep Lincoln's promise to our veterans and their families by giving our time and donating to them. Lincoln's promise is “ To care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow, and his orphan.” This means if a veteran got hurt in war then someone would help them recover or take care of them. Also if a veteran dies than the Veterans Administration (VA) should help the families financially or with services like health care. We can help keep this promise by donating to the VA to help give veterans and their families money so they can recover. You could also give time to organisation that help veterans so you could help a veteran after they come back from helping our country. Another thing we could do is donate money to hospitals

Lincoln made a promise stated, “To care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan”. This quote is being neglected by us as Americans in trying to provide for our veterans. Do the research and you will see that veterans who have served for our country are living homeless. Also, thousands of veterans are forced to buy food stamps and they struggle to feed their families. Veterans in hospitals who suffer from PTSD attempt to commit suicide more than you would think. In this essay, I’m going to explain how our government can help provide better housing, food benefits, and ways we can help provide better mental health facilities.

Veterans have sacrificed so much for us, just so we can be free. They leave their families and friends to go serve. When leaving, their family can be sad and worried, but they might not come back. So much stress is taking on, but it's all for a good cause therefore, we show our gratitude by providing goods and services to help the friends and families.

I believe that every American should have the duty to show the people who fight for our country respect. They risk their lives so that we can wake up every morning knowing that we are free and that we all have a fair chance to pursue our dreams. Realizing what veterans have been through in their lifetime and taking it into consideration is part of my responsibility to America. I must also be respectful to veterans’ families. The families of veterans go through some hard times.

Without the sacrifice of the millions of brave veterans, this world that we live in would change drastically. All veterans inspire me. In rough times for our country, they’d fight for the things that are most important to them. They don’t care about the risks they have to take, they prepare to die for the cause of freedom in this world. A veteran is someone who should be honored.
