Nothing Beats a Relatable Meme You know that feeling. That feeling when you call your teacher Mom. That feeling when the waiter says, “Enjoy your meal” and you reply with, “You too.” That feeling when you think a person is waving to you and you wave back, but they are really waving to the person behind you. That feeling is strong enough to make you want to shrivel up into a ball and lock yourself in your room and never come out. When trying to feel better some people believe to ask for a sign from the universe on how to feel better after this awkward encounter, but I believe in a relatable meme. Evil Kermit Meme: Me- I should really leave her alone after breaking her heart. Me to Me- Text that you miss her. The Evil Kermit Meme is one of the most relatable memes on the internet. This meme displays a person's inner thoughts of good and evil and offers a valuable lesson. People are faced every day with a choice. A choice to get out of bed on time. A choice to do the day’s homework that night, and not in 1st period the next day. There are always two options for each choice: a good one or a bad one. This meme teaches a person that even the purest …show more content…
That is mathematically correct. But for some odd reason on my last math quiz, I thought 2 + 2 = 6. You could not imagine how I felt when I got that quiz back and saw the score 1 out of 2 all because I added 2 + 2 incorrectly. I wanted to bang my head on the desk until my face left an imprint. There is a meme out there on the internet that could illustrate my internal thoughts perfectly. That meme is called Bad Luck Brian. The Bad Luck Brian meme is a picture of an unfortunate school student that suffers from bad school picture disorder. There is usually an ironic statement that goes along with this picture of Brian. I have learned from this meme not to worry about silly mistakes. That everyone has some bad luck in their life and that cannot bring them down. I believe in relatable
How can you tell if a “bad guy”--the villain, the monster, the thief--is necessarily a bad guy? Is it by the images they choose to ink on their skin? Their crooked smile, or maybe perhaps the way they like to crack their knuckles? Maybe it’s just their attire: it’s too dark, too scary. And what of their eyes? There’s something there...something about the way they’re placed, something about how they flicker and gleam with every mention of what they desire. But what of their feelings? The ever-circling wheels of emotions from deep inside that manage to control the raging tides of life? Do they not care like we do?
Bad Frog filed a new application in August, resubmitting the prior labels and slogans, but omitting the label with the slogan "He's mean, green and obscene," a slogan the Authority had previously found rendered the entire label obscene. That slogan was replaced with a new slogan, "Turning bad into good." The second application, like the first, included promotional material making the extravagant claim that the frog's gesture, whatever its past meaning in
The most dark, evil, and twisted individual does not always stay the “bad guy” and can sometimes have a heart of gold deep down inside. It has been proven by character, Felonius Gru in the movie Despicable Me. It is an American 3-D animated children’s movie released in July 2010 (Whitlock, 2013). In the film, Gru is portrayed as a selfish villain focused on taking fun and happiness out of everyone’s lives. Against his mother’s wishes, his childhood dream has been to steal the moon. With the help of Gru’s yellow minion workers, high-tech gadgets and vehicles nothing will stand in his way of accomplishing the most heinous crime ever, including another villain. During a moment of defeat, Gru adopts three orphaned girls to bring down the defense of his opponent. While using them for self-gain, the girls tug at Gru’s
Bananas. The one item every minion wants. These adorable, yellow, Tic Tac-like creatures depicted in the hit movies Despicable Me, Despicable Me 2, and Minions work hard and don’t expect much in return.Their work ethic has received praise from esteemed figures such as Barack Obama, who says that “minions stand for every ideal that America was built on” (Kevin 53). The problem is that minions only work for villains with nefarious plans of taking over the world. In American society, studies found that “99% of the people feel like henchmen to the biggest companies in all sectors of society, from Walmart to Wall Street” (Bob 17). The relationship between the minions and villains bears many similarities to the modern economic and political system of America. The Despicable Me movie franchise is a comprehensive representation of capitalism in America.
According to Alan Bass, math is the building block upon which every science originates; which opens the doors to higher education and better income potential. However there are many high earners that never graduated college like Albert Einstein who states “everybody is a genius. But, if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid”. Not everyone is good at math.
[In lesson 1 at time stamp 2:44, I illustrated a Math Mountain and asked students, “What Math Mountain is that?” A student gave an answer of six. I elicited the student’s response by asking, “How do you know that (name)?” The student responded by telling the class that one more than five is six. I continued to build on the students’ answer and circled the six at the top of the mountain. I explained that this was our big total, a vocabulary phrase. I ask students to raise their hands and tell us what the word total means. Some students were hesitant in defining this word, so they did not raise their hands. I went back to what a student mentioned earlier and circled the numbers as I spoke, “(Name) said that five plus one equal six. What do you think total means?” The same student gave the answer, “All of the numbers together.” I paraphrased their response and added to it by motioning my arms in a big circle while repeating, “Big total, it’s going to be the biggest number.” I also had the class repeat the word big total.
The movie Despicable Me directed by Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud was released in 2010. The movie is about an evil villain named Gru, who is the protagonist. Gru comes up with a wicked plan to steal the moon. To succeed in his plan, he needs the help of three little girls who he adopts. These three little girls turn his world upside down, showing him he can be a loving father. These girls change his heart. Coffin and Renaud have used film and narrative techniques to illustrate the theme that good can overpower evil. They also explore the themes, anyone’s heart can be changed by love and how important it is to have a loving family. The directors present these themes through the characters and events of the film.
¨You are a loser, you are ugly, you are dumb¨, I notice as I scroll through the comments of a picture I just posted. I cry, and I cry, and as I keep crying, I go tell my parents what is going on, and they decide the solution is that my time online should be limited. Much time passes, and I feel much better! Thanks for limiting my time online, it makes myself feel much better about life!
The meme "Bad Luck Brian" was arguably one the most influentially viral meme of our generation. In the city of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, a young Brian, more locally known as Kyle Craven, had no idea the impact his school yearbook picture would have in the years to come. Though some may not be familiar with the meme today, "Bad Luck Brian" has helped to shape the meme industry by setting the tone for ironic and misfortunate scenarios within the macro imagery, and the micro literate communities. Kyle was an ordinary kid in on his way to school one morning in 2006.
Kermit is a good choice for a meme character because he is a widely recognized children's character that has achieved worldwide recognition and having been around since 1955 allows him to have an audience with a wide age range. When one looks at three memes one’s attention is automatically focused on the big white lettering at the top and bottom of each meme. Upon closer inspection it is very clear to see what is the recurring phrase in each meme, which we can call the punch line. For these particular memes the punch line seems to be “but that’s none of my business.” This is also further emphasized by Kermit the Frog facing off in another direction, his attention seemingly on something else entirely, just enjoying his tea. In the first meme the customized phrase for it is “Your phone screen is brighter than your future.” This phrase is meant to attack or make fun of a specific individual or group of individuals of whom the creator of the meme does not think have a very good chance of succeeding in life. This is funny because the very thought that a phone screen can be brighter than a person's future is implying that the targeted group must specialize in failure. This metaphor is very relevant in today’s time due to the fact that due to the increase in popularity of the cell phone many people have lost interest in participating in other activities, including striving for a better future. The second meme follows in the first one’s footsteps and uses the same recognizable styling, the only big difference being the custom phrase at the top. The second meme states, “I saw you pull that food stamp card outta ya Gucci bag.” This particular phrase is aimed at a common stereotype found in lower income communities. The stereotype is formed around a group of people who go out and buy very expensive brand name items even though they do not have
I always seemed to get the bad ones, and I could never understand why. Everyone else would always have messages of happiness and joy, even the unpleasant ones were usually put in a comforting way. This however, was not the case for me.
How could one plus one equal two? Wait. If there was a one, where did the other one come from, then? And why did they have to add together? That was already the big problem. Well, supposing dad plus mom, would clearly equal three after they had been combined because I then, was born as a three after their combination. Also, if I assumed that the combination of my parents still continued, I would have had a younger sibling, and it would be four. If my sibling had another younger sibling, then it would be five. Now let’s presumed that one were a tiger, another one were a rabbit, when they combined, the tiger would eat the poor rabbit and the answer would only be one. If each one were each mercury, they would be one big mercury after the adding.
I hate going to the grocery store - Harsh fluorescent lights buzz away overhead, a sea of screaming colors jump off the shelves, and god forbid you should make eye contact. When you finally reach the checkout stand, the cashier offers the obligatory "did you find everything today?", and whether or not you did, you say "yes". The cashier says "you saved $9.67 today". When you reach for the receipt your eyes meet, and for a fleeting second, you actually see the person standing in front of you. You linger a millisecond longer than intended, and in that moment the world stops. Slightly embarrassed you both turn away. As you walk away, you realize that was the most honest communication you've had all day. Then you get behind the wheel, and off you
“The proudest spirit can be broken with love” is something I may have said, but would a true villain really say that? Out of all of the statements I have made I simply do not understand how this is evil. Just one thing before you call me a villain. Just please hear my side of the story.
