There is no greater time than time wasted. For once something is truly lost, one can never get it back again. These are principles that are applied in everyday life. In almost every sense like a career, an assignment, or the person themselves. Being on time and accomplishing a deadline are important because it displays the person’s character, it affects others around them, and it could affect your future. Being on time shows the kind of person you are. Its shows you’re reliable, diligent, and responsible. Important qualities if you were applying for a job. Giving a sense of trust towards one person and the other by telling the latter the kind of person you are. Showing you care about the people around you and that you’re not wasting their time as well. For time waits for no one. Most importantly, one doesn’t have to give or listen to an excuse from the other. Indeed, life is unpredictable, and events happen out of the blue. A death of someone close to you, getting injured, etc. That’s understandable but sometimes it simply doesn’t matter to others or the task. Everyone else is dealing with things that got out of hand and they also must do what …show more content…
Having deadlines helps you prioritize what you need to do, having to think ahead, and push yourself to finish what you need to do. Prioritizing what you need to do to help you finish the task at hand. Avoiding checking your phone or doing anything that could distract you from accomplishing the deadline. Forcing yourself to finish the task at hand so you can move on to do other duties. Thinking ahead forces yourself to think about what it will take to accomplish your goal, the steps to finish it. Knowing each step will take a certain amount of time and how long it will take to finish the job. Pushing yourself to finish the goal is what deadlines do best. Having to do the all-nighters just to finish your goals is what you might you have to do to push
Deadlines are there for a reason. Without a deadline to meet you could simply postpone whatever it is you have been working on for as long as possible resulting in work never getting done, which is hardly a productive way of working. It is therefore important to meet any deadlines that have been set. Failure to meet the deadlines puts you into a stressful position and may damage self motivation and efficiency with meeting set targets. The deadlines are there to help me as a learner achieve areas of my framework within a realistic timescale. Not meeting deadlines may result in falling behind other colleagues on work and could potentially assist in failure of tests/assessments that are carried out.
Procrastination is an effective tool for getting things done when you have a deadline. A study by Dan Ariely has shown that, with three groups, the group that performed the best had external deadlines reminding them each week. Our own deadlines have been proven to be less effective than other people's deadlines. We see ours as less immediate and therefore hesitate to react upon it. We also usually give ourselves time to put it off, making it a challenge to get started. However, the
Deadlines help you prioritize your tasks. The most important tasks should be handled and completed first and, then go down the list until you reach and complete the least important task on your list. You should complete each task to the best of your ability, in order to meet the deadline. You should focus on one task at a time. Give each task your full and complete attention and concentration. There is no need to rush or get frustrated when under a deadline, because that will cause you to get stressed out, and discourage,
For me, being able to manage my time wisely is a must. Every week I have a schedule that I try to stay as close too as possible. The problem is most of the time something happens to throw me off schedule and I find myself playing catch up. If I didn’t have the schedule already in place then I would never get anything done. “ the first step toward more effective time management is to increase awareness of its value” (Lucco, 1994). Time management is a lot easier in my private life because my family understands what I am trying to accomplish. Everyday I start my assignments at 4:30 and finish at 7:30 with no distractions. They understand that if I work during the week we can play on the weekends.
By setting deadlines we are able to move forward in a timely manner, ensuring the best quality work as an end result
Being on time has taught me a lot on how people look at you. If you’re a person who comes in a little early before you need to be, it shows them you’re ready to do your job and enjoy your job. I’m a person who’s usually on time and ready to start my day. If you’re a person who comes in late they look at you like you don’t care about the company or your job, you’re their just to get paid and not to make the company money.
1. One of our values is “We are on time, every time”. Please give an example of a time where you were about to miss a deadline or did miss a deadline. Explain what you did to either complete on time or compensate.
Everything has a time limit the point where when you meet that end and all you can do is look back, this is a deadline. When you should go to sleep, when favorite restaurant closes and where on time meets too late. Not all deadlines are forced yet most are never really by choice. The purpose they serve is important part of life in which the world moves forward and when work has to be done. It keeps the perspective of time management into focus and what I have to work with. Every day that starts with a plan has deadlines I plan to meet. I get dressed before five thirty. I try to sleep no more than nine hours to prevent oversleeping fatigue. I keep conversations under a minute so I don't lose track of what I was doing in the moment. When I go a trip I plan to leave early to avoid traffic on the road. Meeting this deadlines help to reduce the
Using your time wisely means being effective and efficient. We should spend our time on tasks that are both important and urgent, but always take in consideration to put those tasks that is approaching the due date to do first. To also minimize the stress on your body of getting task done in a rush, avoid procrastination of leaving work that needs to get done for last minute. It’s also important for one to prioritize and to know what’s important from what’s not important, because sometime not every task is important. Make sure to put urgent and important task first before other task that can be done at a later date or time. After you finish doing urgenimportant then you can do the other task that need to get done that’ not considered urgent or important. The difference between an urgent activity and an important activity is that, urgent activity demands your urgent attention and most time it’s related to others but not to you. While important activity does relate to you and can leads to your success in life wither in school or your everyday
The Time Management Assessment questionnaire opened my eyes to my lack of time management skills. From this self-assessment, I gathered that goal setting and prioritization are my weakest areas and there is much need for improvement. Some tips on time management that I learned about in our textbook readings and will use to improve my skills include a) have a weekly calendar to help keep track of activities and obligations, b) get enough sleep, exercise and eat healthy, c) review future goals and obligations often, and d) schedule least liked tasks in between the liked tasks to work faster on the least liked tasks in order to get to the liked tasks (Time Management Assessment, n.d.).
Time management is a critical element to being successful, not just in school or business, but in life. As people work to sharpen the skill of time management, they must always keep the end goal in sight, as that will keep most people focused. Being successful in time management takes a lot of practice and a little bit of skill. Knowing and implementing steps that can help us manage our time will not only lessen the stress' related to getting everything done in a short amount of time, it will also make life much better in general.
Using a planner or scheduler to organize events and deadlines, is a simple approach to time management. It also contributes a sense of gratification to an individual when crossing off an achievement or event. Another method is making a simple “To-Do” list; structurally showing all of the important tasks and projects that are needed to be done, will make sure nothing is disregarded or neglected. Lastly, individuals can improve their time managing by scrutinizing their attitudes towards time and doing away with time-wasting conducts, such as unnecessary TV time or daydreaming activities (Arnold, 2004)
After completing the Time Management Worksheet, I discovered that I do have some free time that I didn’t account for. Being more aware of the time and considering other factors that could interfere with being on time could help improve my time management skills (Waldum & McDaniel, 2016).
Goal setting can help us with such a simple thing has getting to work on time, however, goal setting is not just for time keeping.
“Time is money” if we use the time correctly all the things will complete on time. For this Time Management is very important. For the proper use of time requires aim, priorities, amount of time to the activity, planning scheduling. The effective time management is analyzing how currently spend time and deciding how you want to change how you spend your time. Time is managed properly, nothing worthwhile can be accomplished.
