Public vs. Private Education
I have examined and compared public versus private education. Also, this collection of information should help you understand differences between public and private schools. Aspects of equality and achievement in private and public education will be dissected and evaluated.
Observations
I have evaluated and examined both public and private education instittutional systems.
Public Education
Public schools are in crisis, and not because of any shortages of public funds (more money is spent on public education than ever before, but with declining results). Many people like to think the problem with our schools is precisely that they are public: "Government schools" are run like the rest of

The public's preference for the public schools would seem to be related to its positive assessment of those schools. Although respondents continued to desire improvement, they are generally pleased with their schools. Forty-nine percent assigned the public schools in the community a grade of A or B.
Problems facing the public schools. The general satisfaction with the public schools should not cause one to lose sight of the fact that the public wants those schools improved. It would be logical for such improvement to focus on areas in which problems exist. Down through the years, the public has been consistent in the area which shows lack of discipline. Other points of either drug abuse, lack of financial support, or lack of discipline has topped the list. This year, lack of discipline is identified as the top problem. Fighting/violence/gangs follows at high on the list and lack of financial support/funding/money is also an issue. Teachers and classroom sizes are recognized as a ongoing problem in public education.
Improvement strategies. How would the public improve its schools? The public continues to support zero tolerance policies with regard to drugs and alcohol Many people believe that violation of these policies should lead to automatic suspension. Smaller classrooms
In his new budget, President Obama proposed to substantially increase federal spending to improve public schools. Yet steady spending increases of the last three decades resulted in little change in the poor achievement of students that worries many citizens. Much research, however, shows that what works well is parental choice among schools fairly competing for students as in the case of traditional, tuition-based private schools. Rigorous studies comparing students randomly selected or not to oversubscribed private and charter schools as well as large, statistically controlled surveys show that these schools excel in achievement and parental satisfaction.
Thesis: Private school students are more likely to have a better viewpoint in learning, a firm stance in education, and will be more successful in colleges than of public school students.
In today’s economic environment even the wealthiest states and districts are having to cut funding for education, while districts which were already teetering on the edge are now in an even worse position. In some schools children have to face not having enough books, paper for copies, severe overcrowding,
Growing up in the public education system there are things that are noticed as you go through the system. The government places value in children receiving education and continue into higher education but, through my own experience there wasn’t the right focus nor the funds to reflect this value. I only attended public schools as my family made very little in terms of money but, there was something in common with all my schools and classes; there was a lot of students and not enough teachers. This poses a problem; as the student population grows there should be more teachers to compensate but, due to the way that funds are distributed to schools there are difficulties in just keeping the school running the way it is now. This funding problem leads to a variety of obstacles; placing a burden on the school management to meet the federal standard, affecting how teaching is done and making it difficult for students to receive a well rounded education.
A good education is an essential part of a child’s development. Today, parents have a choice in their child’s education and can evaluate both public and private schools. Although both public and private schools provide education and opportunities for students, parents should evaluate the differences and choose the option that best suits their child and families’ needs. In this paper, I will compare and contrast five major areas that relate to public and private schools including class size, cost, curriculum, services, and teachers.
The public school system in America is a topic that is surrounded by great debate. There are many questions that surround this topic. The research question for this paper was, is the public school system failing to prepare our children for the future? And, what solutions are available if the system is failing? The methodology the researcher used in this paper was literature review, and he also conducted an interview with someone working in the field. In this paper the researcher explains how the public school system is failing to prepare our children for the future. The paper also explains how the teaching styles are out dated. The researcher also explains the solutions that are already in place and
Without question one would think that public school is the ideal route to take when deciding a child’s education; public school allows a convenient and tuition free education for all families seeking to provide schooling for a child but does it provide an exceptional academic program for its students? In recent studies done by the National Center for Education Statistics, approximately 10 percent of students in the U.S attend private school and 90 percent attends public school. Public schools are a tax and government funded program that offers state certified teachers who are excellent at providing an education for all students. Providing programs for individuals with diverse learning capabilities including special education programs and social backgrounds; all which subtly teach tolerance of others. Though these are appealing contributions to public education the effects of attending public schools with larger class settings can be detrimental to the academic excellence of a student. Studies done by the National Center of Education Statistics showed that to produce a child with a higher chance of academic excellence that the teacher to student ratio should be approximately 13:1 but in recent years it was recorded at an astounding 27:1. Having larger class settings can produce children that are highly probable to be less engaged in classroom discussions which could doubtfully lead to poor grades. In addition, public schools have less flexibility when it comes to the curriculum, this can be seen as a positive or a negative effect of the public-school system because though it is of high significance for students
After having children many parents question which school system is better suited for their kids and which aspect is more important, convenience or quality education? Some people believe the public schools provide the same education but at a lower cost. Tooley, Dixon, and Gomathi state “many assume that private education is concerned only with serving the privileged, so is irrelevant to concerns about extending access to the poor.” Although there are some private schools that are expensive, most are affordable for lower income families. However, others feel that private schools encourage a more advanced education because there are less students and smaller classrooms. I attended a private sector for five years in McAlester, Oklahoma, during
When raising children and sending them through a schooling system, many parents will take into consideration sending them to a private school, because the believe that it will provide their child with a better education and leave them better prepared for the future. A better education comes at a price, private schools have a high tuition and many parents do not know if it will be worth it in the end. While private schools and public schools both have the same overall goal of educating young minds, their teaching methods and curriculum differ in many ways; furthermore, the results that the schools see in their students are vastly different.
Children go to school to learn basic skills in reading and writing. It is also a place where children learn how to be independent from their parents and how to interact with other people. Parents have a hard decision deciding where to send their children, and picking between private and public schools seems to be the hardest choice out of it all. Both private and public schools appear very different in their own ways and need to be taken into deep consideration when choosing the right school to send their child. Private schools would prepare a student better for college, but public schools would better prepare a student for the real world after high school because private school teachers have greater discipline towards the children and
As time has gone by, Americans have increasingly paid more attention to the schooling process, trying harder all the time to get the best education possible for their children. As a result, more parents are turning from the public school systems to the private schools. This happens for several reasons. First, students that graduate from private schools tend to be better prepared for college. Second, private schools open up many opportunities to succeed in the business world. Last, the private schools allow the parents and the student to decide which school they feel will give the student the best education possible. Overall, private schools offer a better education for high school students than do public schools.
Ever since gaining education became the national standard, a question has arisen regarding the quality of a public school education in comparison to its counterpart, private school. Today, those taught in a private school tend, on average, to have higher grades and test scores, and greater academic improvement. These two statistics coupled can lead to a greater rate of college acceptance and higher academic success in college. Historically, nearly all research has pointed to a “private school advantage” for the difference in academics and overall intellect. Yet, recent studies have begun to take a closer look at the true difference and have uncovered that this advantage lies mainly outside of the classroom and has little to do with the school. All modern research draws similar conclusions for the causes of these differences in academic achievement among private and public school. By investigating the causes of the higher academic achievement we can gain knowledge in order to better our public school system to create stronger curriculum and better learning environments for our future generations. Private school/Religious schools consistently produce overall stronger graduates largely due to the differences in socioeconomic status, prior achievement, and student/family background.
Raising a kid cannot possibly be an easy task. With the responsibility of raising a child, there comes a point in every parent/guardian’s life that they much choose between the two forms of schooling offered, public or private. This can be a challenging task for parents, or on the contrary a very simple task. All parents have their own thought process on why one is better than the other but by far public school has the most to offer over private school. While choosing between the two, parents may be faced with economical, physical, religious barriers that
Private and public educational intuitions in Michigan have been in the industries the 1800s. Many people discuss wither private schools or public schools are subsequently better investment to how students adapt and learn over the years. By looking back at local articles and information, I can find the information needed to examine how local private schools and public schools differ but, in addition, have similarities.
Your child is going the start kindergarten soon...and there's some big question you have to ask yourself: private school or public school? Which is better for my child? Which one will help them succeed in life? I know I am just a kid and my opinion will not sway you as much as an expert's will...but hear me out. I am currently in the public school system, but for six years I went to private school (kindergarten through fifth grade). I am not just using my own opinion, I surveyed kids who have been to both public and private school. With this survey, I asked them their opinions regarding the two. After being in both types of schools, I have come to the conclusion that public schools are superior to private schools because they offer abounding benefits to students.
