In the speech,”Everything you know about addiction is wrong,” spoken by Johann Hari, attempts to inform the audience about how society takes drug addiction the wrong way and is completely normal for a human to use drugs as a last resort in life. The presentation starts off when he explains to the audience the many different drug addicts he has met in his life a few years ago while traveling a long 30,000 mile journey. He then goes onto stating from his research that everything humanity has been taught about drugs is completely backwards. A experiment was done in the 50’s to show the relationship between drugs and social life. The reason people start drugs is not because they want to, but it is caused by not being able to bear a present in your life. Moreover, there is cruel punishments of drug abuse in America and how Portugal has tried to change it in their country. Luckily people can get over any kind of addiction when they have a friend or blood relative that they can call on if they have a crisis. Finally, people should be more supportive and open in their heart when it comes to others that have a addiction. The author uses logos and pathos to emotionally connect and comfort the people that have thought about drugs in their life and people that dislike drugs and addicts, but using ethos he tries to make a change in the natural drug habitat.

Heroin, an addictive opiate, is the utmost hazardous drugs present in the universe. It conveys numerous possible dangers, including psychological, physical, and social measures for the one who consumes the drug. In a diary of heroin addict, Ben Rogers suffers from heroine and for the past two years, he recorded a video diary of his struggles and pains. He suffered from a 14-year heroine addiction and died at the age of 34. Due to a withdrawal of drugs, Ben died from a brain hemorrhage after reserving himself into a detox program in order to overcome his heroine addiction 24 hours before. After Ben eats food that his mom cooked for him, Ben states in the video, “I hope you realize, Mr. Editor, that I’m dying with every minute.” Due to Ben’s severe addiction, this caused a lot of stress on his family. His mother didn’t agree with Ben’s beliefs when she saw the videos Ben had created originally. Ben’s father was diagnosed with cancer and died a few months after Ben’s death due to the continuous stress he had to go through looking out after his son. After a year, Ben’s mother, Anne changed her mind and wanted the video to be ale to be watched by the audience. She wanted to bring awareness to the authority since she felt as though heroin addicts don’t have any rank in society. The purpose was to show society what actually addiction is like and how it can affect one’s life. As a species, humans have been getting high since the prehistoric age. Drugs have been with us for a long time. Whether drug use is for the greater good or worse has been a subject of debate for social and scientific communities ever since the disciplines came into existence. While drugs have advanced us a species, with modern medicines such as penicillin and the vaccine for polio, drugs, have also hindered us as well with issues such as drug wars and drug addictions. In the documentary Swansea Love Story, directed by Leo Leigh and Andy Capper, the film takes a somewhat qualitative approach to portray what happened to the community of Swansea, Wales, as heroin use continues to rise along with the existent alcoholism throughout the community. The film follows a young couple who are a part of the drug problem. The couple themselves and almost everyone shown in the video used some type of drug. While heroin use does play a massive part the deterioration of Swansea, there were also structural and cultural forces at work.

Drugs have been a very big problem in the United States and all over the world for centuries now. But, On September 10, 1996 the mother of Ian James Eaccarino found her son dead in his bed of an accidental heroin and valium overdose. He was a promising college student with everything to live for. He was bright, athletic, popular, and handsome. His mother was unaware that he was using drugs and thought the changes were just adolescent behavior. The death of James made her curious of why her son would do what he did. So, she went to a drug awareness program, which opened my eyes to what was really happening in her home. He was only 20 years old when this happened.

The temptation to use drugs is everywhere and is presented every day in today’s society, and although some people see this as a new occurrence, it has been a continuously prevalent issue. Music has had influence on drug use, and is viewed as a problem that has been around for decades and is continuing to rise with the social acceptance of risky lyrics that are being put into music increasingly more often. Currently Rap, Pop, Hip Hop and R&B artists are the ones supposedly corrupting our youth, but in the past both country and rock artists, such as Brandy Clark and J.J. Cale. Drugs are not a new thing by any means and have been commonplace in most cultures at one point or another. Throughout the known history of the world humans have used drugs to provide mind and mood altering experiences. Evidence of the production of alcohol can be traced back to the description of a brewery in an Egyptian papyrus as early as 3500 B.C (Fort, J. 1969). On a seemingly primal level, humans have always had some incessant need to alter their state of consciousness. Whether it’s spinning around in a circle as a young child to feel dizzy or participating in some adrenaline fueling activity, people seek ways to change the way they feel. While the aforementioned activities are considered normal by most accounts, the end results are essentially no different from the use of drugs. Unlike spinning in circles, watching a scary movie or skydiving naked from airplane though, the use of drugs to create an altered state of consciousness has created a series of problems for societies.

This article uses proof from the dedicated researchers and describes how and what is bad. It also supports how addictive it can be and why people cannot quit. The researchers know what can possibly happen, with the evidence from scientists. It may even discuss how one could help a friend quit using drugs as a "get away." People might question, what is in the drug called "Molly" or what could possibly be in it. Media tells the public to stop smoking or why do drugs, but people want to act cool and have bad cognitive skills.

Each article portrays the ruinous and pernicious things that heroin can do to the body. Heroin is a lethal substance that can ruin one’s live in minutes time and can ruin one’s reputation after they have worked so hard in life to earn it; one needle can make it all go away. According to The Guardian (News and Media), there are many experiences where addicts, former or current, struggle to reach sobriety and deal with the mental and physical challenges that co-occur. “It's easy to become complacent in your recovery. That's why I attend 12-step meetings, so that I don't forget what it was like, to remind myself that I'm only one drink or drug away from the person I once was. If I had one drink or one hit, my illness would make me want more and more, something the 'normal' person may not understand” (Mike, two-and-a-half years clean). “The longer one takes heroin the greater one's tolerance becomes. Eventually, the little bags weren't enough to stave off the symptoms of withdrawal, and more and more was required just to get me to work, just to get me to sleep, just to get through this trauma, just to not feel how miserable I was” (Vanessa, 17 years clean).

During 2014, a total of 47,055 drug overdose deaths occurred in the United States, showing a 1-year increase of 6.5 per cent, from 13.8 per 100,000 people in 2013 to 14.7 per 100,000 people in 2014. People do not realize that one hundred people each day die from a drug overdose. Overdosing is now the leading cause of accidental death in the United States, accounting for more deaths than traffic fatalities or gun homicides and suicides. People believe that if they’re sick if they take certain types of drugs and they will get better, but all it does is hide the symptom’s until they become too sick to ignore the facts.

Often times society is worried about the type of drugs that are present around their community (Karen,Foster, 2013). Not only for their wellbeing, but for their close friends and families also (Karen,Foster, 2013). Although on the other hand, families are also preoccupied with what type of pharmaceutical drugs they should be purchasing for themselves and their loved ones, to deal with certain physical and mental pains, which they so desperately need, to endure a joyful life (King,2014). In this paper i will prove that drugs are used by different types of people to fill a gap in their life , to heal a physical and mental pain, to keep up with todays lifestyle’s and to feel a sense of masculinity and power.

Around the world, people are getting hooked on something, it’s causing a problem, affecting people's health, it’s called overdosing, every year, hundreds of thousands of people die to overdosing, either to alcohol, or drugs. People start off living a normal, but then they get introduced to the world of drugs, they become someone that they’re not, they went from someone that had a well paying job with a good family, to someone that is now homeless and is hooked on drugs.
