The foreign policies of Roosevelt, Taft, and Wilson shared one key similarity, to establish the United States as a world power and increase trade with foreign countries. Although all the presidents shared a common goal they had different approaches to obtaining that goal. Roosevelt’s “Big Stick Policy” was focused on serving as a peacekeeper and mentor for other nation while upholding a public image of a super power. Taft wanted to maintain balance by investing and therefore developing foreign markets in poorer nations, the nations that the U.S. invested in were protected under his “Dollar Diplomacy”. Wilson was concentrated on the morality of American power on forging nations and remaining neutral in forging conflicts therefore his policy was rightfully names the “Moral Diplomacy”. All three presidents shared the goal of establishing the United States has a world power, however they all had different methodologies on obtaining world dominance.

President Woodrow Wilson tried to remain neutral when World War I broke out in 1914, but failed when the sinking of the Lusitania, caused by German hands, killed 124 Americans (Foner, 734). President Wilson viewed Germany as “the natural foe of liberty,” and declared war on April 1917 by insisting that “The world must be made safe for democracy,” (Foner, 735, Schwartz 2/16/16). After the relentless battle between nations the war ended November 11th, 1918 (Schwartz 2/16/16). The government’s involvement during World War I extended, once radical progressive ideals, into reality by shaping paths for the United States to become politically involved with the world with Wilson’s fourteen-point plan, and at home by ratifying prohibition and women suffrage.

In 1913 president Wilson passed the Underwood Act resulting and the Federal Reserve BIll which included honest tarrif rates and reducig rates for and istition tax. He estabablished the Federal Trade commininsion to limit any unfair trade. His goals led to America to be neutaland tried to keeping peace with Great Britain he tried his best to not take the U.S to war. Wilson also endored women’s right to vote which led to 19th Admendment being ratified by majoritey of ⅔ states in America. The president was known as the leader od World War 1 and his attemps to initate League of Nation. Wilson intoruced tghe Fourteen Points as our basis of the treaty at Versailles which was the last point of the League of Nation ensurig peace.

William Howard Taft was president in the 1910’s and served as the 27th president of the United States until 1913. His tendency to contemplate every side of an issue served him well as chief justice but rendered him indecisive as President. In general his presidency was seen as a failure.
