Political Party Issues In political campaigns, the viewpoints of the individual candidates are often reflective of the positions of their political parties. In the upcoming presidential election, there are issues which have the power to divide the nation. One of the most divisive issues at present is the question of gay marriage and whether or not the federal government should weigh in on what has thus far been a states' rights issue. Both on the state and national levels, the perspective of the people in the various political jurisdictions will determine the way in which they vote. If a party agrees with the population's view on an issue, the people will be more likely to vote with that party. The two major parties, the Republicans and Democrats, have officially been against gay marriage although a few have differed from the party's position. Less is known where some of the "third" parties, such as the Green Party, Libertarian Party, and Constitution Party, stand on the issue. I support same-sex marriage because I see no valid arguments against it. The majority of arguments against gay marriage are based on religious perspective. In the United States, the First Amendment to the Constitution guarantees separation of church and state. Therefore, religion should not have a place in either the formulation or implementation of legislation, including questions of who has the right to get married in this country. The Green Party was founded with the intention of making
Political parties are composed of several different parties for example; Democratic Party, Republican Party, Libertarian Party, and Green Party. The two major parties are Democratic and Republican Majority of Americans classify as these two. Political parties are essential institutions of democracy. Democrats, believe that government can and should work to make everyone's lives better. Republicans tend to take a more conservative stand on issues, and They believe that the federal government should not play a big role in people's lives.
Political parties today started to form in the late 1600’s. In 1787, Hamilton and other leaders joined and called themselves the Federalist. The Federalist party is the party which is most qualified for the presidency because the Federalist want a central government, want to avoid foreign affairs, and also want a central banking system. First a strong central governments.
Generally speaking, anyone who lives in the United States of America knows that there are two main political parties—the Republicans and the Democrats. Having two main parties has its advantages and, of course, its disadvantages. For example, in By the People James E. Monroe and Rogan Kersh (301) point out having this type of system creates “predictability and stability.” However, they also declare (301) it can “lead to a gridlock.” This is not a new concept either as there has been a divide since the beginning of both parties. The two parties more often than not disagree on various issues, while rarely agreeing on what is best for the country.
Republicans and Democrats take up complete different ideas in this category. Republicans believe in traditional marriage, where a man and woman marry. They firmly disagree with same sex marriage, as it is not in the Bible. According to www.RepublicanViews.org, “The Republican Party stands behind a traditional definition of marriage as a legal union between one man and one woman.” It also says, “... in terms of raising a family, having a male and female authority figure is a healthier and more balanced way for a child to grow up. These are some of the common arguments against gay marriage” (Republican Views on Gay Marriage.) Democrats believe in the ability to marry whoever you want, being of the same sex or not. They stand for gay marriage and states rights to control the marriage requirements. As www.RepublicanViews.org/democratic-views-on-gay-marriage states, “Democratic views on gay marriage support full equality under the law for same-sex couples. Democrats believe that gay marriage should be left a state issue, and that religious entities should be allowed to make decisions about marriage as a religious sacrament on their own” (Democratic Views on Gay Marriage.) The two parties clash on this subject
In the United States of America, the political party system is pivotal to the function of our nation. The political party system in our society today is separated between the Democrats and the Republicans. Although political parties do possess uncertainties their advantages outweigh their drawbacks in America. The United States of America is made up of two basic political parties, the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. A political party is a group of individuals who share similar interest and they work together with one another to construct and execute policies. The Democratic Party was established in 1828, by Andrew Jackson. The Democratic Party was created based on a belief in an unyielding government and an advocacy of social and
There were many political disputes that happened in the United States. Many people were fighting over which party they should go to or which one was better. They had the Republicans and the Federalists who wanted to sway the vote to their side. They opposed each other and disputed against each other. This caused many conflicts in the United States.
Although the founding fathers advised against the establishment of “political factions” as the Constitution was going through the ratification process, which was the split between the men in President George Washington’s cabinet. Their initiative was to move toward the idea of political party. By the end of the of the first decade, the existence of the United States under its current constitution, a two-party system, had began. Although these two political entities were steadfast in their initials ideals, both parties had to modify some of their original positions on various issues as they faced the reality of governance.
The next topic that is debated between the Republican and Democratic parties is the separation of church and state. This is defined by the detachment of the government when dealing with religion. The Establishment Clause and the Free Exercise Clause both enforce the idea that the people have the right to explore and live out their religion of choice while have neutrality in the federal government.
Gay marriage should be legal because as woman and man, all individuals have the same right in society; because same-sex couples can constitute a good based family; because it is just a way to make official a common union nowadays, even with the religious issue; because it is not related to polygamy; and because love matters and it does not differ in nature according to the sex of its object or the person who experiences it.
A same-sex marriage is a hot topic in today’s politics and society. Our views are changing each day as our culture is changing. Today nearly fifty percent of American’s support same-sex marriages. We are changing our views to be more accepting of all and that is why party stances on this issue are very subject to change.
Same-sex marriage should be marriage because everyone is equal, love is always right, and people have a right to choose their own soulmates. First, equality is a basic right, which means everyone should get the same treatment. The restriction against same-sex marriage is an offense to the dignity of lesbians and gays, because it limits the range of relationship options open to them (Mello). The limit of same-sex marriage is against homosexuals to enjoy the same right as heterosexuals. It is not fair for homosexual to get the different treatment. There is a law to declare that legalizing homosexual marriage is to achieve the basis of equality come true. (Albertson).
In America we have two main political parties the Democratic Party and the Republican Party, each with different point of views. Democrats are labeled as liberals and the Republicans are considered conservatives. Neither of the two parties are made up of people who totally agree with everything the party stands for. Both parties disagree on three major issues abortion, same-sex marriage and universal health care. I found that my beliefs, ideas and views tend to lean more towards the Democratic side, and will be focusing on supporting the democrat party on these three main issues in association to civil rights.
Those that are oppose same sex marriage focus their reasoning on religious beliefs. Same sex couples do not want to be treated as second class citizens, they do not focus on what religion states; they just want to be treated as equal as heterosexuals when it comes to their right. Same sex couples believe if one is to bar any class of people from marrying whomever they choose, it then deprives them of their social institution; that many feel defines the most meaningful part of life, to marry someone one loves. Same sex couples believe that their relationships are no different than that of a heterosexual marriage. Same sex couples can have maintain a home together, provide an environment that children can thrive in and care for each other the same as heterosexual married couples do (Goldberg-Hiller, 2002).
As the society changing, the history of marriage also changes. Marriage is legally recognized union of two people as partners in a personal relationship, but do those two partners always have to be a man and a woman? Most people believe that homosexuals should be granted equal rights as heterosexual couples. Being as an important social issue, same-sex marriage has become a hot topic of public debates in the recent years. For over the past decade, public support for the same-sex marriage has quickly risen. The United States is one of over twenty countries that allow gay and lesbian couples to wed. I believe that same-sex marriage should be legalized in all countries for several reasons, such as being an issue of equal rights, separation of church and state, no negative effect on the heterosexual communities, increasing in child adoption, and decreasing divorce and suicide rates.
