Physical abuse is defined as deliberately act which causes injuries and intentionally hurting someone with the weapons. Physical violence is common among intimate partners. Most of the male partners often hit their female partners when they are angry or when their partners start arguing with them. Sometimes husband even breaks the bone of his wife over small things like if she is not ready on time or when the food is not cooked properly. Physical violence can cause various health problems in women like chronic joint or muscle pain, loss of hair, stab wounds, cuts, bites, sprains, chipped or lost teeth, internal injuries, chronic headache, high blood pressure, burns, chronic stomach pain and detached retina etc.. For example-In Mumbai’s Bhabha Hospital, people who are wounded among them, the number of women is large and most of the women who come there have been victims of domestic violence. In the consultancy department , almost 40% are women affected by domestic violence , there are the cases of poisoning, fracture, wounds, battered women, pregnant women, who say they fell but usually these are domestic violence cases. When the attacker was none other than her life partner, then how can she feel safe at home. The casualty ward in this hospital gets fewer cases of typhoid, malaria or TB and more women who are victims of domestic violence and this is about one hospital in one locality, in one day.
