A number of individuals and pro-medical marijuana organizations have fought for years for the legalization of medical marijuana. Numerous studies have also tried to prove or disprove the medical properties of marijuana.

In the United States, twenty-one states have no laws on legal marijuana use, even for medicinal marijuana. Another twenty-one have legalized marijuana for medical use only. As for the other eight, those states have legalized the use marijuana for medicinal and recreational. The states that have fully legalized marijuana have seen a boost in the economy due to taxes from marijuana sales. Along with helping the economy, marijuana is proven to provide medical aid for illnesses, such as cancer and Parkinson’s Disease. The legalization of marijuana for medicinal and recreational use will be a benefit to society.

Cannabis is a popular topic amongst teens, adults and medical doctors these days. Cannabis, also known as marijuana, pot, weed and hash can be quite controversial across America, since you have those who disapprove and those who condone its use. You might know someone who uses it, or maybe you have even tried it before. They say more than 1 in 3 people in America have tried marijuana at one point in their lives (Web MD). As of 2017, 29 states plus the District of Columbia have legalized medical marijuana to some extent (Healthline). Recreational use of marijuana has been legalized in 8 states, with the age restriction being 21 years or older (CNN).

A very common argument is whether or not medical marijuana should be legal throughout our country. As some states choose to be legal, more research is being done to show the impact that it is made. Many worry that it will do more damage than good, giving people to opportunity to abuse it. What we need to be paying attention to is the effect it has on people with diseases, the money involved, and whether or not it is proving itself. I will argue that medical marijuana should become legal in all states of the United States of America.

While you might have heard many people say that weed can cause diseases, scientific research and studies show that it can help cure many diseases and physical problems. From helping fight Glaucoma, controlling epileptic seizures, helping prevent cancer from spreading, slowing Alzheimer’s, easing multiple sclerosis pain, reducing Hepatitis C side-effects, treating inflammatory bowels, relieving arthritis pain, helping you get through chemo and a lot more.

The Cannabis Sativa Plant is one if the world's finest herbal medicines. Doctors have prescribed the Cannabis Sativa plant, also known as marijuana for over five thousand years and quoted it as a first rate pain killer and a multi-purpose healer up until nineteen thirty- seven when it was sadly prohibited. This has resulted in a poorer, more crime filled nation in which our citizens are denied natural relief. If we only sanctioned marijuana for medical use our country would become a richer, less crime filled place in which natural relief is given to our citizens.

Marijuana is a topic of significant public discussion in the United States, while many are familiar with the discussion, it is not always easy to find an answer to the common questions about its health effects, benefits and the differences between federal and state law concerning the drug. Many people have used Marijuana all over the United States. Marijuana is a psychoactive drug that crosses the blood brain barrier and acts on the nervous system and it temporally changes in perception, mood and behavior (drug 2004). Just over half of all Americans believe that marijuana should be legal in all states of America while three quarters of all physicians suggest that marijuana be used for treatment as they have found that it has eased the pain in women who suffer from breast cancer as well as children who have seizures. Legalization of marijuana in the United States will reap more benefits but the justice system will just not admit it, it would aid in medical conditions and benefit us economically.

Medical marijuana has become accepted in the United States for adults, but not a lot has been considered for children. Many states have already legalized marijuana for medical purposes and other states are considering legislative change. A huge problem is the Schedule 1 status marijuana hold in the United States, this make it extremely hard to do research on medical marijuana for children. With the lack of scientific research, it leaves parents in a vulnerable position of trial and error. Considering that the medical marijuana is for their children, in my research I have noticed that most parents use it as their last resort. Parents are seeing their kids suffer from Epilepsy, Leukemia, Cancer, ADHD and other mental conditions. Parents that have tried Medical marijuana for their children have seen a significant improvement, but because of how new the medical marijuana concept is and a lack of scientific research parents are not aware of long term effects on their children. This issue could be resolved if the federal government would take the Schedule 1 status off of marijuana.

Has a person ever witnessed a high-speed chase on the interstate or just anywhere with a person that was high from marijuana? I do not think a person has or ever will. Even though marijuana is being the most abused drug, it has the potential to be very useful. Unlike other drugs and illegal substances, marijuana is an herb; it serves for medicinal purposes. Marijuana originates from a combination of “cannabis sativa” which is dried flowers that are a greenish-gray (NIDA). During the Mexican Revolution in the 1900s, the term “cannabis” was the word in place for marijuana. The term “cannabis” was used because at that time, marijuana was used for medicinal purposes and household remedies (Wilcox). Today, it is mostly used for recreational purposes. Marijuana can be known as weed, pot, Mary Jane, gas, loud and many other terms that can be found all over the world (NIDA). Nearly every day, we see arrests or probation violations due to the use of marijuana, in turn, progressively increasing the amount we, as taxpayers, are having to pay every year. Marijuana is a progressively heated issue in America today, and is one that will need to be discussed in a more critical approach in the future. With marijuana being discussed, there are many pros and cons that can be found in this situation.
