Nikki was a slim and athletic college graduate. However, once she was diagnosed with lupus , she lost her job and health insurance. One day, Nikki collapsed at her home in Tennessee and was rushed to a hospital emergency room, which was required to treat her without payment until her condition stabilized. Unfortunately, she passed away a few months later. We now have a chance to reform this healthcare system. If we let that chance slip away, there will be another Nikki dying every half-hour.

US health care is one of the most talked about or controversial topics in last few years. We often come across debates, articles or columns relating to this topic. This is a hot topic of this generation. Why everyone should have insurance? Why people should have for something that might not use? These are some of the questions we found ourselves surrounding by. In my opinion US citizens should be required to have insurance. Both men and women have separate needs when it comes to health. More women are facing health issues because of teen pregnancies and child birth, it is important to for everyone to have a health care plan according to their needs. So when the time comes right treatment and medical attention can be provided. In this piece I will be presenting some ideas and arguments supporting my side and also looking at the flip side of the discussion.

The United States health care system has its own unique way of delivery, unlike many other developed countries where health care is a right for all and almost all the citizens have access to basic health care services. In the United States, health care is market based. If you cannot afford it, then you shouldn’t expect to receive coverage. This causes a human right crisis and deprives millions of Americans from receiving the care they need. The privatization of the U.S. health care system results in a substantial number of Americans who are without health insurance. The health care system is constantly undergoing changes, in response to fears of access, quality and cost. Despite all of these changes, there are still significant disparities

The United States spends twice as much per citizen for health insurance as any other country in the entire world, but continues to fall behind other countries when it comes to coverage and quality (Rangel, 2011). There are nearly forty-six million uninsured Americans, and millions more have inadequate coverage. The affordable health care act, was designed to help millions of Americans. But, to Americans it is questionable at best. Obamacare is so fundamentally inconsistent that it is taking Americans in the opposite direction of the necessary reforms needed. The root cause for our health care system include misaligned reimbursement policies and incentives, lack of integrated patient care process, and poorly coordinated patient care treatment (Health Care Delivery System Reform, 2015). America cannot build sustainable health reform on a dysfunctional health care system. The United States needs to get rid of Obamacare and pass a new comprehensive reform that makes health care affordable for families, businesses, and the government.

Anyone who wants the treat at the hospital, emergency room or doctor's office should be required to have health care/insurance, or money and anybody who cannot afford insurance are eligible for subsidies or government programs such as Medicaid according to the government plan. Many of Americans they oppose these ideas; before making coverage obligatory, we need to reform the health insurance market, to make stronger public health insurance programs, and finance premium lower for people who can’t afford coverage on their own. Those who support these ideas they are saying no one in the richest nation on earth should go without health care.

The United States healthcare system has failed Americans because the government has treated it as though only the wealthy should be taken care of. Universal Healthcare has benefited industrialized countries like Sweden, France, and Canada because they recognize the fact that healthcare should be a human right, and not a privilege. The debate continues over whether the reform will benefit the people and not put the government into greater debt while politicians are raising the constitutional flag on the reform, stating it is not constitutional to make it law that all Americans have health insurance. The issue of healthcare and what method is right for America is an important question and one that cannot be answered hastily.

Health insurance costs have been rising steadily for years. It can be a big chunk of your budget. If you are young and healthy, it can be tempting to skip this cost. But when you skeptically ask yourself, should I buy health insurance?, you need to not just assume the answer is no. Instead, ask yourself these other questions first:

If the government and hospitals really care about people’s health, then why do they make insurance and premiums so high that people cannot afford them? If the government says that they care about human life, then there should just be universal coverage so everyone can get their healthcare needs met no matter if that person is poor or rich.
