Speeding is a huge issue on the road for australians. Why is speeding an issue, there are four main reasons why, which are; speeding is a major contributing factor in road crashes, speeding increases the risk of crashing, speeding increases a result of an injury and speeding is a main source of car crash which increases death for passengers or bystanders. There are different types of speeding they are, Low level speeding (5 km/h to 10 km/h), Excessive speeding (Way over the limit), and inappropriate speeding (speeding in bad weather conditions). There are numbers of ways Australia are coming together to create new ways to reduce spedding. Some ways the government are trying to reduce speeding are speed cameras, demerit points and campaigns. …show more content…
Visual videos make younger adolescents more involved and concentrated on the film. In campaign videos it more visual to see the direct message that it's trying to set out. An example of a campaign known is the ''pinkie'', the Roads and Traffic Authority's advertisement ''Speeding: No One Thinks Big of You'' featured several young and old women waving their pinkie fingers at young men speeding, suggesting the size of their manhood had driven them to speed. “On the Sydney Morning Herald” it states “The behavioural change campaign, splashed across television, radio, print and billboards from 2007 to 2009, became one of NSW's most successful campaigns.” This ad is the third most shared story in the world, from this most of young drivers in Australia had been encouraged to stick to the speed limit. Finally demerit points are another way to reduce the speeding. Demerit points are a way to stop speeding and ensure and encourage safe and responsible driving. Double demerit points are also a way to stop speeding. Double demerits occur on public holidays and long weekends. This is effective because on those specific days it's known people to speed to get to places and to attend an event, they make us slow down on speed. In “Do double demerits work - WAGA” “For fatal crashes, the decrease during double demerit periods was 24%, compared to an increase of 32% during non double demerit
My best friend will likely be the death of me, but I still love her. I have known her for three years and would trust her with anything, or so I thought. Everything changed the moment she got her license. Suddenly the need for coffee was completely eliminated, and all I had to do was ride to school with her. Through many close encounters and two accidents so far, I have learned the definition of a terrible driver. Every ride with her is an adventure involving skipped stop signs, speeding, and near collisions. She is the reason why many adults believe that teenagers should not their license because of poor driving.
A very effective piece of propaganda in that it captures the reader’s attention successfully by placing a picture of a child in the focal point of the advertisement. The child plays a vital role in this piece of propaganda in that it represents a loved one, family member and anything cherished. It shows what could be left behind, if a driver chooses to ignore safe driving. Choosing a sorrowful child’s face, further enhanced the emotions of the reader, as the advertisement would not have the same effect if an adult was shown instead. The advertisement also suggests that the driver has been negligent in his/her duty of care toward their family. This also instigates a number of feelings in the viewers mind about their family, and the result to their loved ones.
If you get a ticket in California, you maybe able to have it masked from your record if you go to traffic school. Unfortunately, this can be a time consuming process if you opt for a traditional classroom setting. Instead, consider attending traffic school online at 5bucksschool.com.
More and more people are dying from those crucial disgusting accidents. People should understand that those crucial habits should not be tolerated and it cannot be done. Hopefully, this has been persuasive enough so that you don’t need to kill innocent people and you do not need to live with a miserable life. Driving is fun, but killing people is not. Hence, people can grow with some more aware driving skills, and simplify the deaths per year. If people stay away from texting while driving, impaired driving and speed
Even though few states do have laws in place to prevent distracted driving, it has not been a top priority for police officers, most likely because it's tougher to charge someone for eating or texting than it is for speeding. Though in all reality, other countries are much harsher when it comes to distracted driving than the
Everyday we drive to work, your house, the store, the gas station, we drive everywhere. Over recent decades, driving has almost become a necessity to many young adults since some jobs require a farther commute and colleges are not located in every town. Driving is a privilege and many people neglect this privilege by developing dangerous driving habits. Some of these include speeding, distracted driving, road rage and driving under the influence. In today's age people live a very fast paced, rushed lifestyle. Speeding is becoming a problem because people are impatient. Speeding decreases your reaction time for avoiding collisions and is becoming a profitable scheme for law enforcement through speed traps. I speed all the time and realize the dangers of doing so. I have not been in a collision yet or been pulled over by a police officer because they could not keep
There is a term used in Northern Ontario called White knuckle driving. This is a simple description of what northern drivers experience when they are forced to drive on one of our highways after a snowfall. Our knuckles turn white from gripping the steering wheel so tight because of the life-threatening driving conditions in the North.
Trying to patrol the number of impaired drivers on the road is the first step of failure that we as a nation have faced already. The fact that state legislation has had the ability to overrule federal laws is somewhat absurd. Either way, if marijuana use does or does not impair one’s senses, mandatory action should be taken regardless. It’s not the act of using narcotics, whether lethal or not, and it’s not even the fact that someone gets behind the wheel; it’s the aftermath of all those events combined. According to www.thinkprogress.org in their article Marijuana Doesn’t Make You More Likely To Crash Your Car, they stated “media reports and anti-pot legalization advocates have hyped the idea that ‘drugged driving’ would wreak havoc on the
In conclusion, there are many dangerous habits that drivers commit daily. Speeding, driving tired and distracted driving are habits that drivers should realize have no place on the road. To make the streets safer drivers must learn to avoid doing these dangerous acts. Habits are difficult to break, but doing so will save lives. Think about the all of the people around you while driving. Do not take unnecessary risks and make it home safe and
In several states of the United States, undocumented people don’t have the right to maintain a driver’s license. They don’t have the privilege to apply for a license since the prerequisite is to obtain a social security number which they don’t have. Undocumented people not having a license is alike as not having freedom considering they can’t go out unless they want to go walking or find a transportation. They could also risk of not having a license and still drive, but many of them are terrified to get inside of the car because they never know what could occur just by going to the store or anywhere in particular. If they have the capacity to drive a car and pass the driving test there shouldn’t be any reason why they can not obtain a driving

How and why has speed become the number one cause of death to our children and a contributing factor for many of our older citizens? Speed has become such an epidemic among our teenagers that government agencies such as the Center for Disease Control (CDC) now publish records and statistics yearly. During the course of this paper we will review accident statistics, speed limits, road conditions and driving habits which are the leading causes of speeding. Even though speed is not the main factor for vehicle fatalities, speed is dangerous resulting in accidents and influencing many fatalities. Additionally, the information provided will examine some of the tools provided by law enforcement and the policies of many insurance companies today to help deter speeders and prevent automotive fatalities.
In urban environment, drivers must frequently stop or slow down for different forms of regulatory control at intersections such as traffic signal stop sign or yield signs, pedestrian crossings, rail crossing, emergency vehicle way, and reduce travel speed areas near schools and shopping zones. Travel speed also affected by congestion where preceding vehicle prevent the adoption of discretionary free-flow speed. Factors such as these cause large amounts of variance in individual speed even during off peak periods. Lowering average travel speeds in urban and metropolitan area will bring considerable reductions in road trauma especially accident at emergency lane. (Symmons, 2008). Lowering
Speeding is defined as the act or an instance of driving, especially a motor vehicle, faster than is allowed by law. Speeding is often one component of aggressive driving which is defined as committing a combination of moving traffic offenses so as to endanger other persons or property. There are strong direct relationships between the speed at which we drive and the risk of crash involvement and the injuries sustained if a crash results. The probability of injury and the severity of those injuries increases exponentially with vehicle speed. Even small increases in speeds result in a large increase in the forces experienced by the vehicle occupants or other road users. Put simply, the faster you drive, the harder you hit and the more severe the injuries you or someone else are likely to suffer. Traveling over the speed limit can be especially dangerous in bad weather conditions. Speeding was a factor in 53 percent of fatal crashes that occurred when there was snow or slush on
