Brittany Copeland January 1, 2015 Personal Statement No one is going to hand me success. I must go out & get it myself. That’s why I’m here, to dominate, to conquer. Both the world, and myself. — Unknown I am very excited to enter an MBA program that will allow me to focus on my interest in healthcare management as well as provide me with career possibilities and exposure to resources. My academic object is to receive a MBA with a concentration of healthcare Management. I believe that my education and work experience have provided me with a great introduction to healthcare. With my experience I gained an interest in management. I consider a Carlow University MBA to be needed to gain a broader understanding of management and to sharpen
At 16 I experienced rural healthcare at its worst. My older brother and I were home alone when he started having severe stomach pain. I had never seen him cry in pain before and I was terrified. There isn’t a doctor in our hometown, so I drove him to the closest hospital, about 30 minutes away. Neither one of had a cell phone and the hospital staff wouldn’t allow me to use their phone to call my parents because they both had long-distance phone numbers. Hours after we arrived, someone in the waiting room let me use her cell phone to call my mom. When my parents got there, they took my brother to an exam room and then immediately back to surgery—his appendix had burst. It wasn’t until I was older that I realized this experience was not normal. It wasn’t until I was much older that I realized similar experiences often happen in rural communities because of the need for primary care physicians and quality health care facilities.
By obtaining a degree in Healthcare Management I will develop a set of skills that will increase my knowledge in healthcare overall and contribute to the growth of Bioscrip in meeting its goals. To name a few of these skills I will possess is management , finance, accounting, healthcare systems in being able to incorporate document management procedures and techniques, as well as risk management. These skills will be applied in areas of Bioscrip such as Intake, Reimbursement and Finance.
Obtaining a degree is my way to change that, and guarantee a future in which I will be able to independently raise and provide for my son. A degree in healthcare management is a stepping-stone to a diverse array of opportunities. Healthcare is an expanding field, and explicitly, healthcare management is growing faster than average.
I believe that the Master’s program will challenge me in subjects that I am not proficient in. I believe that the Master’s program will balance my education with a better understanding of the business aspects of health care. I do lack in a firm foundation of business knowledge and I am excited to learn. I know that the finance aspects of the Master’s program will be difficult for me but I will seek additional resources through the University of Phoenix. I also will utilize the resources I have around me on a daily basis with the current leadership I work with.
I have had a passion for becoming a healthcare provider for children for quite a while (for a long time). Children are one of the most important individuals of society because they are the future and will one day be in charge of the world. Their health at a young age is indicative to how their health will be as adults. Childhood has a great effect on how a person turns out to be so I hope to help children I hope to use prevention and education to preserve and restore the health of my patients. My career goals are to prevent children from having to spend time in hospitals or in pain and to help them live out their life and dreams to the fullest extent. Children play a very large role in their families, and when a child becomes sick, the whole family becomes distressed. Pediatricians not only heal children, but they help and prevent a family from suffering. I love medicine and children, and I hope to combine these two passions by becoming a pediatrician.
Ever since I was a freshman in high school i always wanted to persue a career in the medical field.
Health care administrators have wide-ranging influence within the world of medicine. The leadership that these professionals provide sets the future course not only for the facilities they manage but also for the health care system as a whole.
The Marylhurst Healthcare MBA program and 26 years of work experience in the healthcare industry will enable me to help others find and receive affordable quality healthcare. Even though, we have Obama Care people are complaining that they cannot receive quality medical care at affordable prices. In some cases, they are going without medical treatment because they cannot afford the co-pays. In addition, some people want to obtain natural healthcare and most insurance companies will not cover important naturopathy testing. It is this that has inspired me to learning the business aspect of running a hospital and using this knowledge to become a healthcare advocate.
Throughout this document, readers will understand a few syllabus that I feel are important for my future career within the healthcare industry, some challenges I encountered, accomplishments, and opportunities that I have gained over the past seven weeks. In addition, taking the step to further my education is an accomplishment for me because if I did not decide to seek my dreams I would still be working at a convenience store. Furthermore, without this course I will not be able to obtain my college degree and seek employment in the healthcare industry. Therefore, it was a pleasure taking this class because I had the ability to gain more knowledge and skills for an administrative job. In addition, there are several insurance plans available throughout the United States; therefore, it is important to have the patient bring their insurance card with them upon arrival to verify his/her coverage.
I would like to thank you and your staff for a great experience. The lessons I learned have taught me so much about this field and I now know that I should not limit myself just to coding and that there are many opportunities in other areas.
My time-tested attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and project coordination skills under ongoing deadline pressure will help me serve Legacy Health System and its clients effectively as a Service Rep Courier in the Eugene area. Friends with Oregon Medical Group suggested this role with Legacy as a way I can start to contribute in the medical field.
I’m still not 100% what I want to do after obtaining my degree, but a Health Coach is something I have strong interest in. A Health Coach helps clients to cultivate a healthier lifestyle. Many of their duties include, assessing a client’s current health conditions, developing goals, providing counseling services, treatment meals, health screening and tracking client’s progress. Health Coaches play a huge role in a person’s life by being a positive and educational influence in their daily lives, and could save and prolong lives.
Some people have wanted to be in the health care field for as long as they can remember. Some people have a moment or one specific incident that they can point to and say "this is the reason I want to be in the health care field." I am not one of those people. My interest has developed more slowly and steady. As I progressed through school I noticed that the subjects I enjoy the most are the sciences. Learning about the human body and disease fascinates me. I began to realize I wanted to have a career where I have a true purpose. Healthcare allows me to truly make a difference in people's lives while also pursuing my desire for scientific knowledge. So, when I first began my college studies I decided I would be pre-med and become a doctor.
Peter Drucker argues that we live in an age of unprecedented opportunity; that people can make it to the top no matter where they start (Drucker, 2005). However, no matter what natural talents you may possess, people still need to learn how to manage their lives and their careers over a fifty or more year period. He asks people to ask five primary questions honestly about their career.
Management as it relates to the health services realm requires a deep understanding of coordinating the delivery of healthcare. One must be able to utilize frameworks to recognize and develop solutions to challenges within managing healthcare. My desire to become a health services manager (HSM) spawns directly from this concept of identifying an issue and being able to present interventions and approaches to improve the overall quality of life for communities.
