As an undergraduate student at the University of New Mexico I have become increasingly aware of the complex network problems that I face as a citizen of the world. I have also realized the progress and success that I enjoy in the same capacity as the frontiers of medicine, technology and communication continue to expand. I will be visiting Raleigh in late August, to explore the area for retirement, for visits up to six months of the year. It may be a challenge to meet interesting people, who have the time and desire to connect, but still, I am hopeful for companionship one day, a shared life, wherever destiny leads.

I, Moin Ahmed and my spouse Ismat Ara, continuing our married life since August 22, 2014. I have been working in a prestigious university, as a Lecture since April 8, 2012, and getting a lump sum salary. My organization already provided me No Objection Certificate which is attached with this application and there it is mentioned that, my institution will have no objection if I go abroad to reunite with my spouse, and I will get leave of absence and will be able to join in the same organization after coming back in my country. This NOC is giving me the opportunity to apply for this visa and accompany my wife in her hard times when she is struggling to cope up with a new culture and new environment.

I have no other option, but to write this humble request. I am going through challenging times, and respectfully ask for help. The reason behind this charitable request is the growing cost of healthcare expenses which includes a needed hernia surgery and owed dental bills.

I first want to apologize that due to some circumstances that relates to me, everyone has to take time from their day to be here. Today, I am not here to plea for any sympathy or to convince anyone that the current situation is not correct, but am here to share with you all my perspective in regards to the current situation.

I did not file a Federal tax return for the year 2014, because I have not worked during the year. I am retire and my only form of income is Social Security. Since I made no income for the year of any type, I was not required to file an income tax return with the Internal Revenue Service.

I have been a communications officer in FCR for 8yrs, I was also a special constable for 7yrs, during my time as a comms officer I have progressed through call taking and dispatching. Last year I was successfully promoted to scale 5 and have been working as a senior comms officer since that time. I am a tutor and have tutored 9 new members of staff on call taking and dispatch and 2 others on the ANPR desk. I am fully trained in ANPR, VODS, recruitment and selection interviewing and as an acting supervisor. I am also the health and safety SPOC along with first aid and fire marshal for FCR a role I volunteered to take on alongside my normal duties. When I took my USC tour before my freshman year, I fell in love with the campus and became very interested in exploring all the opportunities presented by the ambassador. I fell in love with the beauty of the Horseshoe and greatly appreciated the generosity and politeness of the people I met. I want to inspire prospective students to fall in love with USC as I did. I would also like to explore this opportunity to develop as a person and make good friends in the process. It gives me great pride to tell people I attend the University of South Carolina and cheer on my team at every football game. When people ask me why I went to school so far away, I generally stick to three answers. The weather is great, the sports are amazing, and the people who comprise the University are fantastic.

I bet almost all of the essay’s you read today will be chalked full of clichés about how “I hope to grow as a learner and as a person.”, “I want to learn as much as I can and get a good education”, “I want to expand my horizons.” Here’s the thing about statements like these they are all cliché and dull but they are all true.

I thrive on gaining knowledge. Even now, as a non-traditional student and busy mother to two young children, learning excites me. As an 18-year-old in Germany, I began a 10-year career as a military analyst that honed my ability to think critically, pay attention to detail, and visualize holistic solutions to unique problems. However, I spent my free time riding a bike along The Rhine searching for a quiet space to settle in with the wisdom of books such as The Art of Happiness and The Elegant Universe. There, on those riverbanks, I discovered within myself an innate curiosity of the mind and the fundamental nature of the world.

In our lives, we have to make important choices, and sometimes our choices determine our happiness or sadness. As a Filipino, our families tell us to do well in school and to not make bad choices because they want us to be successful and to have ethical morals. Growing up as a Catholic, I was taught to be obedient and respectful to my family which has shaped who I am today. Yet, I too made some mistakes, and I learned from the consequences. From my failures, I learned to not belittle myself, but to grow.

I have a wide range of skills and knowledge that I have acquired throughout my personal and professional life. I can communicate with different types of people regardless of age, race or class. I have accessed a huge range of courses that have enabled me to develop interpersonal skills including negotiation and dealing with different types of people and personalities. I also have the knowledge, drive and enthusiasm to work alone when required as I am self-motivated and can meet targets and deadlines. I believe that challenges are best met positively by developing and improving knowledge and skills and through professional reflective dialogue that leads to change. I am very hard-working and reliable. I work well under pressure achieving a high standard of work. I have practical and organisational skills and I can find solutions to problems and face challenges confidently.
