Adding exercises into one’s daily routines can change their whole lifestyle. Many people look at exercise as being something just for people who want to lose weight or to become muscle bound, but there are a great deal of benefits that can be received from exercising regularly. Of course gaining muscle and losing fat are the two most popular reasons that usually attract people to the gym, but they make up a small part of the potential benefits that can be achieved with exercise. There are several ways in which I have benefited in my life from exercising regularly, besides just making me bigger and stronger. It has made me become more organized, helped me make better decisions, and motivated me to take on new challenges in life. When I …show more content…
I began to slack off on my exercising, being that I could already lift a great deal more than any of my friends, not to mention I had gained an additional five pounds bringing my total weight gain to twenty pounds. Adding even more difficultly to maintaining my exercise routine, I took on a career as a traveling salesman, requiring me work long days and living out of hotels most of the year. I also continued in poor eating, abuse alcohol, and sleep for only a few hours a night. Over the next two years of irregular and undedicated exercise, I had lost ten pounds and nearly all my strength. I began to notice my life style had suddenly taking a toll on my overall health, sending me to the emergency room on several occasions. I soon realized that I needed to make a change in my life style or it was going to destroy me. I again turned to exercise for the answers I needed to make the change. I had heard many times before, while talking to other people who worked out, that it is very important to eat healthy, get enough sleep, and avoid alcohol if I wanted to see results from exercising. I was always quick to brush off advice like this, because I seemed to be making progress without following such strict rules, but I knew now that I need to make a change. I set out to achieve a healthy life style and began to use exercise as a source of
It all started on June 2014, I was uncomfortable in my own skin. I was underweight and was always out of breath. I ran like a turtle. At that time, I weighed only 115 pounds. I wanted to make a change for the better, wanting a better lifestyle. So I decided to sign up for the gym. That day changed my life forever. The gym made me fit, healthier, but most importantly it made me a better person which is who I am today.
The athletic training program at my school, many times our supervisor would let us take the lead when it came to treating a patient and diagnosing them. The biggest obstacle I face through this was doubting my confidence. One time as we were on watch during a game, a player had fallen and was in great pain. I was the next in line to go with the trainer to help the player, when we approached I began to feel my confidence dwindle. Yet I knew I had a duty to the player and was able to overcome this barrier.
I have always been physically active and I have participated in many sports and athletic activities and programs throughout my life. However, one thing that I have never considered to improve my fitness was just going out for a walk! Engaging in walking activity has improved so many areas of my life. I have become more health conscience and through this new perspective I have begun to make better fitness decisions that are helping me live a happier, healthier life. I first noticed a change in my fitness level when I was at soccer summer camp. At the camp, we had to run a mile around the field. I remember how last summer I had been really out of shape and I had struggled to run the course. However, this summer, because of my keeping up with my walking program
Running affects my life by making it easier for me to get rid of most of the negativity in it. It helps me stay more focused, gives me time to think about my goals in life, and about my choices to life a better life. Running keeps me in shape, makes me healthier, and more active. I run so I won’t get too lazy to anything else. Once I get lazy I don’t want to do anything active besides eat junk foods and watch tv. When I get lazy and not do anything at all, I start to feel sick, so that is another reason I run. Some people wish they could run, but they can’t because they might have a disability or something else, and I don’t want to take that for granted.
Along with my specialty of running into mailboxes, I am also known for tripping over flat surfaces, eating my weight in pasta, braiding my teammates’ hair before races, and face planting at the bottoms of hills. Life is short, running makes it longer. Despite all of this, lacing up a pair of shoes and heading out the door is a passion of mine that continually challenges me day in and day out to improve myself. Running clears my head and makes me feel like I can conquer anything. I cannot wait to make more sensational memories and friendships with this sport.
One day after eight hours of work, I was sitting on my couch watching television when I saw a commercial showing a man who had lost fifty pounds in six months. Having seen similar commercials over the years, I really did not give it much thought. However, a couple hours later the commercial still lingered in my mind. I stopped for a second and thought, “Why don’t I work out, but to gain muscle instead of losing weight?” I decided to join a gym with two goals in mind, to gain muscle and become fit; I did not want to be the skinny kid anymore. I began working out four days per week, doing squats, sit ups, push ups, bench press and deadlift reps. Pushing through the pain and exhaustion has made me a better person. My perseverance has taught me
“I need to work out today.” Everyone in their lifetime has probably said that more than 100 times. But, do they need to work out? Yes. Working out or exercising is a key part in staying healthy. I think that the 3 key parts of staying healthy are 1: Eating healthy, 2: Getting a good amount of sleep, and of course, 3: exercising. That’s why people “need” to work out. They want to follow these healthy habits. Of course, most people don’t succeed. But, we all try. Because, working out or exercising is for you and your overall health.
For the past two months, starting on March 1st, I have aimed to improve my physical wellness. Fitness has always been my weakest aspect of wellness, and I knew it needed to change, which is why I set two primary goals for myself, one involving physical activity and the other related to my sleep habits. I aimed to go on a hike, practice yoga, and do one other exercise routine, each once a week, and get to bed by 10pm nightly. Hiking has always been a passion of mine, I had been wanting to start doing yoga, and in the past I’ve struggled with poor sleep habits which were detrimental to my health, which was how I decided on each of my goals. In a checklist, I wrote that I would buy exercise materials, go to my doctor, and take a hike that was

Exercise plays a big role in today's world and people don't realize how important It really Is. The number one chronic disease that's killing people these days is heart disease.(Page 6 In Fit and Well book) The percentage of people who are overweight Is increasing as time goes on. Which is actually really sad because it's something people that people just avoid instead of realizing they can actually do something about it. Exercise can not only help your physical appearance but it can also reduce your overall health problems.”Physical activity allows the body to respond and adapt to demands and stress of physical effort”(Page 8 of my Fit and Well book). The reason exercise is a great thing Is because of all the different benefits it has, and
I was introduced to running at a young age going on runs with my Dad at our local park. My Dad at the time was training to run marathons and I would join him on his shorter runs because that’s really all I could do at the time. Then came 8th Grade when I decided to run cross-country. This experience changed my life and made me realize something that I would have never thought was possible, I would love running. Through my past 4 years at high school my love for running has intensified. This sport has been a talent that has helped shape my life.
Exercise is something that has turned my life around, changed me, and made me a n overall better, happier person. I was never really interested in exercise when I was a kid, always signing up for sports teams and quitting after a season or two because my heart just wasn’t there. I was pretty positive that I would never find a sport that I loved and would never be deemed an “athlete”, but I decided to try out basically the last sport on my list, track and field, my sophomore year of high school. The first day of winter practice, sprinting through the halls of my high school and doing lunges in the middle of the cafeteria, I fell in love. The lifting, sprinting, and mileage was definitely a challenge, but unlike all of the other sports I had tried in the past, it was a challenge that I loved and a challenge that I was determined to overcome. I began to notice changes in my body, in my mood, and in my life in general. I was infinitely more fit than I had ever been in my life and I felt as though I was constantly on a high. I even started performing better in school, getting more sleep, and craving healthier foods. Ever since then, I have been fascinated by how my body made these drastic changes and what my body was actually enduring as I was doing these exercises and running
When I was twelve I tried roller skating for the first time. As a chubby kid, I did not have the courage to take part in sports, but aspired to learn one professionally. On the rink one day, I requested one of the trainers to teach me the basics. I was shy and hesitant to leave the rails or skate fast, it annoyed him. He gave up, and irritably said, “You are too fat to skate. Don’t bother trying" and walked off. I immediately left the rink, and kept quiet about the incident. His comments deterred me from taking part in physical activities for a long time, I started skipping P.E. classes at school, and avoided any form of athletic endeavor until I had health issues. This experience familiarized me with failure, constructive criticism, and gave
How many people’s lives have changed from fitness/working out? Well it is more than I count which isn’t to high but still. The impacts from fitness is an amazing thing not only can it change you, but the people around you. I think you can learn a lot about life in a weight room. I also think many people can motivate you. My Dad was one of those examples.
There are compelling benefits to carrying out regular exercise to an individual, such as weight loss, increased strength, physical as well as mental health improvements, confidence and social aspects. Similarly, the benefits to the community are also noteworthy, including improving community spirit, reduction of NHS costings and greater infrastructure.
