Personal Narrative: Breanna Brinning

A quick aside with my own personally experiences as the youngest of three brothers. Often my siblings have set the curve for what is acceptable and not – weather that be academics or that be sports. In my own competitive nature, I have sought to surpass my brothers, with me being the first of the three to go to

If someone were to ever tell my younger self that I would one day be one of five siblings, I would have never believed them. Unquestionably, my siblings are an enormous part of who I am; aspiring me to become an intelligent and an affectionate human being. Life doesn't always hurl obstacles in your way, but when it does, it can turn out to be completely disparate and even fascinating from the original thought. At the ripe old age of eleven years old, I was expected to step up to the plate and take care of my new adopted siblings, David and Alysa. Countless responsibilities, circumstances, and a world of authority and gratitude have shaped me along the way due to that one event. Indeed, I am grateful that my parents went through with the adoption because even though I had an impact on my adopted siblings, they have propelled me to become an exceptional brother, son, friend, and student.

Bryce enjoys being around his friends and enjoys the extracurricular activities they get to participate in. He does a great job in expressing his idea and viewpoint on things he is passionate about and receiving feedback on even though I think sometimes feedback from his peers doesn’t matter to him. Most times in group or when with teachers Bryce is the example child or the child that would be most trusted to be the leader but if chosen not to be the leader he does good in following directions.

In the novel Tangerine, the author uses the examples of the Costello brotherhood and Fisher brotherhood to convey the idea of a strong brotherhood and a weak one. Mike, the eldest Costello plays on the Lake Windsor High School football team. He loves and cares for his little brother, Joey, as Joey looks up to him. Mike takes Joey to and from soccer practice like it says on page 46, “ nah, I’ll catch a ride with Mike.” This shows that joey also trusts his brother and that they have a strong relationship based on love, trust and stability. Bryce Bennett, He was a 17 year old kid who had a creative mind. He was the only child and he lived with his mother they lived in a decent sized 2 bedroom house. I chose this picture of my sisters because it is my favorite one. I am on the far left, my little sister, Karrie, is in the middle, and my older sister, Kassie, is on the far right. This picture just seems like another picture of sisters but we are so much more, we are best friends. We are all so different but all so alike. We all go by shortened names, Kassie is Kasandra, Katie is short for Katelyn, and Karrie is short for Karrington. We have age gaps of six years in between Kassie and I, and four years in between Karrie and I. Not to mention how different we all look. On June 13 2001 a girl named Jillian Suess was born at Grey’s Nuns hospital. That girl was me.I am the 6 th and last child of my extended family. Being the youngest child has its perks, like no matter what you do your older siblings will get in trouble even if it isn't your fault. Also you will never have to do as many chores. Standing almost six feet tall, she walks down the looming white halls of the hospital, her lithe-framed body softly oscillating.. Wendi Briseno combs her thin fingers through her medium-length pale brown hair; a breath of warm air sweeps from between her lips. Lives are saved by the hour because of her, and the wellbeing of many is enhanced due to her imminent solicitude. As she thinks of her contribution to the vigor of many, a smile stretches across her face, and her shiny braces become evident. Lightly applied makeup is smudged as she gently prods at her ice blue eyes. A long hallway lay before her, and her eyes trail along this hallway. Eventually, they discover her destination: the break room.

Even though youngest siblings always try to do what they can to not be compared to their siblings, being the youngest does not always have perks. We do not get as much attention like our older siblings do and we sometimes do not feel the same love the parents give to their first-born.
