Identity is a group of characteristics, data or information that belongs exactly to one person or a group of people and that make it possible to establish differences between them. The consciousness that people have about themselves is part of their identity as well as what makes them unique. According to psychologists, identity is a consistent definition of one’s self as a unique individual, in terms of role, attitudes, beliefs and aspirations. Identity tries to define who people are, what they are, where they go or what they want to be or to do. Identity could depend on self-knowledge, self-esteem, or the ability of individuals to achieve their goals. Through self-analysis people can define who they are and who the people around them

Identity, as defined by Merriam-Webster dictionary, is “the distinguishing character or personality of an individual,” (Identity). Identification is the act that people employ to distinguish themselves from others, creating a unique set of qualities or characteristics that one believes makes them dissimilar to others. One's identity is taking oneself from the general population, and categorizing oneself into various sub-lets of the global community.

Identity is what makes a person unique. It is the soul and the essence of a human being. People are not born with a fixed identity. Identity is inherently dynamic; it changes and evolves over time. A person’s identity is ultimately shaped by their decisions. My identity is different from those who surround me. I create my own identity.

What identity means to me is how a person or thing describes itself or is described. A person’s identity is based on their personality and who they are as a person. If a person is kind to other people and helps others this shows the person is caring so one of the person’s identity is that he/she is caring. People might identify themselves by saying that their compassionate, courageous, easygoing, determined, sensitive or even that their independent . Three words that identify me are that I am venturesome, ambitious, and athletic.

Identity. What is identity? One will say that it is the distinct personality of an individual. Others will say that identity is the behavior of a person in response to their surrounding environment. At certain points of time, some people search for their identity in order to understand their existence in life. In regards, identity is shaped into an individual through the social trials of life that involve family and peers, the religious beliefs by the practice of certain faiths, and cultural awareness through family history and traditions. These are what shape the identity of an individual.

Webster’s dictionary defines Identity as, “the distinguishing character or personality of an individual”. It is the sole factor of what makes a person unique from the millions of others. Finding a person’s identity can be a difficult task. Equality from the dystopian novel, Anthem by Ayn Rand has to go through an immense journey of self-discovery before he found his identity. His journey was one that was filled with hardships and difficulties but in the end his goal was met. Similarly, Mario Della Grotta who was popularized by the non-fiction article, who holds the clicker, by Lauren Slater also had to go through a similar journey. Identity is the all encompassing view of who you are as an individual and contain many different parts such as your goals, values and beliefs as well as your standards for behavior and decision-making (Schwartz, Luyckx, & Vignoles, 2011).

Identity is defined as the fact of being who or what a person or thing is. A person should be able to define their own identity, but it sometimes seems as if others define it for us. But when it comes down to it, we are merely who we want to be, even if it is influenced by others.

I would simply define identity as who you are or what makes you different. When quickly compared to peers, we may seem like copies of each other. We wake up, go to school, eat, sleep and hangout with friends, but there is still something that makes me, me. “Your identity is your most valuable possession. Protect it”. Although said by Elastigirl from the pixar movie The Incredibles, this quote is powerful. Our identity is a powerful possession, as it helps us establish who we are and what our purpose is in the world.

Identity according to the definition is the fact of being who or what a person or thing is. Identity in my own words is what distinguishes a person in their social relations with others or other collectives. Every single human being in this universe is different from everyone else, Everyone has their own unique traits which from them; who they are. We are in charge of our fate, who we are, who we want to be, we are in charge of ourselves, we decide how we act, how we think, we decide all of these sorts of things. Through the horrific and through the happiest periods of time, We decide if we are going to persevere through them and keep our heads from clashing with weakness or if we are going to give up; feel frail and adapt to a very fragile mindset that keeps the head bowed down.

Identity. The definition of identity is The fact of being who or what a person or thing is. Identity is who you are. Your fingerprint is different. Your DNA is different. Even your eyeball pattern is different than the guy next to you. Some things that i like to do that not all people might not like are to play football and basketball, do water sports like ski and wakeboard and go hunting and fishing. Three things that make me unique are that i'm an athlete, funny, and laid back.

What is identity? Does it define who you are? Does it make you more or less of a person? Is identity what you see when you look in a mirror? Identity is one of the building blocks of who you are. It’s the basis that gives us a starting point to how we want ourselves to be. For some, it might take a short amount of time, but for most, it might take several years. It’s all one long journey that you take to find yourself.

What is an identity? Some people claim you’re born with it, other says that your identity is molded throughout your lifetime. An identity is what makes you the person that you are. When someone describes you to someone else, they are describing your identity. The morals that you live by, and the way you live your life is your identity. Many different factors make your identity different from everyone else’s. I think this because everyone goes through different events in their life and that’s what alters a person’s identity.

Many theorists see Identity as something that is solid and unchanging - something that is true to your inner-self. Others argue that your identity is something that is constantly changing and adapting, and something that requires commitment and action to sustain. Problems that occur with finding an identity lie in that people seek to be accepted into that new identity and be validated by others.

Identity is what evolves us, it is what makes us think the way we do, and act the way we act, in essence, a person’s identity is their everything. Identity separates us from everyone else, and while one may be very similar to another, there is no one who is exactly like you; someone who has experienced exactly what you have, feels the way you do about subjects, and reacts the same to the events and experiences you have had. This became prevalent to me as I read through many books, that everyone goes through the process of finding who they are.
