“If you want success, be unique.” (Natalie Massenet) To be successful, a person has to obtain a different identity and personality in order to have different ideas. The old definition for identity was, “sameness in all that constitutes the objective reality of a thing.” Identity is not how a person is similar to another group of people; it is who they are as an individual. A person’s identity is unique to themselves and what they do in their life. Identity is how someone lives their life based on what they are devoted to. One of the ways that I chose to be devoted in my life is through swimming with the people I love. I first started swimming when I was five and loved it. Every time I was in the water it felt so right, as if I was meant to be in the pool and not on some court or field. As the years went by, my love for the sport grew because I was becoming better and more dedicated. About a year ago I had a goal to get a certain time. I knew to accomplish the goal, I had to try harder than I ever had and do the absolute best I could. The weeks of training went by leading up to the big meet that I hoped to accomplish this goal. Every day after practice, I could smell the chlorine and sweat on my suit from the hard work I had put in that day. Eventually, the big day came. I slowly made my way to the blocks where I would dive off and hopefully accomplish the goal I was trying to reach. They blew the whistles and I stepped up onto the blocks. I placed my feet in
